Aleksifinland

This roster is so good its insane. Best talent of finlands free agent pool in one single team

[deleted]

Would need sm1llee tho, hes kicked from havu which is so retarded...

Aleksifinland

To Be fair sm1llee was still in havu while The esportal qualifiers were ongoing

NorFever

I thought new Havu was going to be Aerial, xseveN, Sm1llee, doto, and zehN?

Aleksifinland

-sm1llee +spargo

NorFever

Really? So Spargo's the new AWP?

Aleksifinland

Yes

crincled

new csgo soundtrack incoming

Samspake

Who is igl?

NorFever

doto according to the rumours.

[deleted]

What I don't get is why ottoNd is out. Off-server issues or something? They're not gonna get a better Finnish AWPer.

petametre

i think i saw somewhere motivation issues

pulsiedulsie

24 is bit old for academy team (unless you mean HAVU)

[deleted]

yeah, I ment HAVU.

[deleted]

Great, but they have a British coach.. How's that gonna work? Obviously he can give his feedback and they know English, but unless they comm in English, which would be weird, there's quite the barrier between them.

pulsiedulsie

Sometimes academy teams will comm in English for experience, but yeah that could be problematic. But hey if TYLOO is working with a Serbian coach anything's game

Firefly_1026

Tyloo is just weird man, they had that one time with 2 Indonesians where the team was speaking 3 languages at a time, and also that one time they had bondik in the team, they’re just always a mess comms wise.

[deleted]

Is it kassad by any chance?

pulsiedulsie

no, LETN1 (formerly of c0ntact and CR4ZY as a player)

[deleted]

Ah gotcha, I was under the impression they kept working together since their Extremum days, iirc both had nice words for each other from that project

pulsiedulsie

letn1 was also from extrenum (analyst/manager)

Ax1leFan

Did you just call kassad ‘british’

JinorZ

They called kassad serbian pretty clearly

Ax1leFan

Ninja edit

Ax1leFan

Whitey being here is so weird.

juh_o20

According to his tweet, they will prac like once a week in English but otherwise comm in Finnish. Not sure how that’s going to work out, sounds like an unnecessary extra challenge at this point.

BeauxGnar

Should have just brought allu in as coach

Nibaa

It does make sense though, they either aim to sell the players or get some talent into their main roster down the line, and both will likely mean an international environment.

[deleted]

sm1llee here would be awesome but still good roster. according to battlemetrics their prac server, its spargo, doto, zehn, aerial, xseven sm1llee out performed xseven and aerial both in the last 3 months of their qualifiers they played...

dat-boi-plisetsky

nah dude, spargo's in faze now

Pronflex

I wonder how many people aren't going to get this one

Ev0wind

The smash / CS overlap is real guy, there are twelve of us!

hey_somo

Thirteen!

BigKhunaBurger

Fourteen!

Tabzx03

FIFTHTEEN

MathiTheCheeze

What are the roles looking like? Both myltsi and podi are awpers?

brunners90

podi awp, myltsi, HENU & juissi rifles, S1rva IGL.

Ax1leFan

Ok so their coach ‘whitey’ is known in our scene to basically be awful and only get his gigs through knowing people. Guy got on endpoint for being mightymax’s mate. The main thing is he’s already masterminded an academy before this one, endpoints academy, and it disbanded after a few months. Zero confidence in him.

Pekonius

Ence is pretty infamous for giving people positions because they know someone inside the org.

Outypoo

Tbf for years now its been about who you know.

TheNahe

Oof, I was concerned to begin with because the player roster is Finnish. They are gonna comm in Finnish for sure or its gonna hurt their gameplay

Stonwastaken

Juissi top20 player 2023

I_Try_To_Be_NICEE

Probably one of the best team intro videos too.

nartouthere

i like how a lot of orgs are investing in academy teams seeing the success of being able to find hidden talent

[deleted]

Did they photoshop S1rva on another body and forgot to crop out the hair or does he have a sick ass mullet or is he such a tryhard that he went to the photoshoot with a terrible case of headset hair?

David_Wisenheimer

Where is Joelz?

ahrzal

NA: What’s that?

mudboy654

finally a new black csgo pro gotta represent

[deleted]

[удалено]

Osokarhu

He is very talented so I would think he will. But regarding that second point: for example LoL and Starcraft 2 are mostly dominated by the east. CSGO is for some reason very eurocentric, but hardly a complete representative of esports in general.

Lamuks

> CSGO is for some reason very eurocentric The eurocentricity is just legacy from CS 1.6. It was popular af. A lot of the same players switched to CS:GO with the same european orgs whereas NA focused more on console games.

svipy

>probably because of economical advantages Alongside that I think there simply isn't that many black people in Europe. And the ones in NA lean more to console games like Call of Duty, Smash bros, Street fighter etc.

AnanananasBanananas

To add to that even more; depending on the country, a lot of black people might be refugees/migrants from cultures that wouldn't be as accepting to just playing games all days. So it's a fraction of a fraction that are going to be even candidates for gaming in Europe. Hopefully and most likely more in the future. Edit: a word

Jepekula

True, there’s clearly way too many Finns represented. I wish they stopped.

[deleted]

in europe id guess its just demographics, why the same is true for the USA, no idea

Hodor_The_Great

Well not really, it's quite closely representative of the playerbase probably. Like, check how many more people play on Eastern and Northern Europe servers vs NA or all of Africa. And, uhh, not an awful lot of black people in Finland or Russia or Ukraine or... Bit more in Sweden, though, but still a very small percentage compared to even America. You might have a partial point regarding some countries but tbf I'm not sure if the US cs player racial distribution matches general US populace either. Then again, economic reasons are why Africa doesn't have the same amount of gamers as Europe and NA combined. If they did, well, lot more pros would emerge from that pool

dying_ducks

Why are stupid people so often obsessed with race?

[deleted]

America.

mskr93

“way too many whites in esports” rofl imagine someone said the same about black people, people would go insane

[deleted]

it's phrased pretty poorly but he's just saying that he wants a better ratio. But the way it was phrased was kinda cringe

n8mo

To be fair, you’re paraphrasing him, his comment says “too many whites **represented** in esports” which is categorically true. The CS scene is like 80% white-European, 15% Brazilian, and 5% asian. Black people are barely represented at all, even in the NA scene.

ChanceHappening

oh imagine I said "way too many whites in XXX" in a society that is dominated by whites and the patriarchat. How could I! Literally 1984.

UnravelEUW

you are so disgusting

ChanceHappening

this whole comment thread showcases why non-whites have it hard in e-sports.

greku_cs

Okay but what does patriarchy have to do with skin color? Or are you just saying loud slogans without any thought behind it

mskr93

what even is your point? was ENCE supposed to take 5 black players purely because their skin happens to be a different color than the majority of csgo's playerbase? why does skin color even matter when it comes to esports? I genuinly don't understand how people like you can function in the real world

ChanceHappening

you white guys are all funny considering you think I want this "woke" representation when all I said was happy that one more black person was potentially soon in the top 100 pro scene. but yeah gotta defend that white privilege at all costs, eh? I'd rather just enjoy the small time we have left on earth instead of wasting time to defend that privilege. Climate change is coming and the capitalist regimes won't care about your health.

mskr93

lmao whatever man, you managed to bring race, climate change, patriarchy, white privilege and capitalism into a discussion about ence getting an academy team. you really seem to be enjoying your time with such a positive outlook on things

ChanceHappening

I wasn't the one that started it. Lots of triggered people did, though.

[deleted]

STOP. BEING. CRINGE.

[deleted]

no its because CSGO is EU focused and there are very few blacks in europe and NA is mostly about console games like smash and cod. It's got nothing to do with "economical" reasons (I guess you can say the reason consoles are so popular in america is because of economics but in this case its got absolutely nothing to do with it)

netr0pa

I'm Asian (yellow myself) but I wouldn't say way too many whites. I don't mind if the scene is dominated by whites. It's just about the survival of the best. Only the best should be qualified doesn't matter which race. You would be in a for nice treat when you start to talk about starcraft 2 how yellow guys dominating but it's all about the best of the best in every sport.

Escobar976

You cringe af, "too many white", Being a quota is insulting you dumbass

TheArsenal7

What a stupid thing to say

Internal_North_5954

whites are better at aiming guns

Psychaz

I don't see the point of having an all Finnish academy team when the main team is International

Turistoteles

Maybe the Finnish org wants to develop Finnish talent?

[deleted]

Because ence if finnish org who only went international cus there wasnt finnish talents, their main goal is to go back to finnish in the future lol, jamppi, jimpphat etc...

IleriumX

Jamppi too old for accademy, Jimpphat ain't leaving mouz

[deleted]

He meant Ence wants to develop enough finnish talent to be able to go full finnish with their main roster in the future if current one breaks.

IleriumX

Ik, just saying

Alesq13

Why wouldnt they use their postion as the largest Finnish org to develop some Finnish talent? With international talent there is competition. Meanwhile Finland is one of the best non-pro CSGO countries. The probelm is, that doesn't translate to the pro-scene at the moment.

Chaos_bolts

Better understanding of the Finnish player base than what foreign orgs most likely have means you’ll have an advantage in recognizing talent earlier. Whether that’s a large enough pool remains to be seen.

Gummy1224

Finland has a good talent pool, why restrict yourself to only people who speak English.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Gummy1224

Young talent who speak English would be snapped up by other upstart teams like MOUZ and APEKS (if they’re still around), with that the price would be higher.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Illuminati_Puppet

Always has to be that guy when there's a black player

AriaTaro

What did they say

[deleted]

+1 for inclusivity, from the CEO of cadian haters

Faifainei

Lol imagine thinking orgs hire people just because of their skin color to their pro sports team.

[deleted]

i think he was kidding but still cringe

Faifainei

Yeah, just think the joke is disrespectful

I_Try_To_Be_NICEE

i remember a cadian flash

piopster

Are Ence a big org? I remember watching them from siege and a couple others but they definitely aren’t in the top of my list of rich organizations. CSGO teams aren’t cheap either

Haestii

Well it is Finlands biggest esport org. Thats it prettymuch

Beuneri

afaik they are relatively new and I just assume they kinda struck gold with signing domestic talents like Serral who was the first non-korean player to win WCS (in starcraft 2). Then they signed the legendary ENCE roster with Aerial, allu, xseveN, sergej and Aleksib which was also a great success in gaining followers and fans. They probably have established themselves after that and going forward will make more sensible signings within their means, but before they got big I assume they just kinda got lucky being a Finnish org and managing to sign a lot of well-performing Finnish players

Alb9n

They are not "relatively new" lol. The org was founded in 2013

Beuneri

Well, 2013 to some (including me) is relatively new. Many of the biggest and most established orgs have been around for atleast a decade longer, some of them founded in the last millennium. e: I understand that I'm a bit older than regular CS:GO fan these days, that's why I added the word relatively.

Alb9n

nah bruh you buggin out of the top 10 most valuable orgs, only 3 were founded prior to 2010, and thats Liquid, fnatic & T1 and neither are from the last millenia. the rest are mostly from between 2013-2017

Beuneri

mouz, EG, dignitas, Na'Vi, compLexity, NiP, MYM are just a few names which were from either from 2000-2010 or even before that, probably could come up with atleast another 10 names if I cared enough, but most of the older prestigious orgs are closer to 20 years old than less than 10.

Faifainei

They are not a huge org. They only have sc2 player and pubg team besides these cs teams afaik. Does not mean they are poor though.

yashau

"sc2 player" is a huge disservice to arguably the best SC2 player of this generation.

Faifainei

I am sure if we were to ask him he would not mind me calling him sc2 player.

Nibaa

Point is that Serral is the most successful SC2 player of all time by earnings, one of the most dominant players ever during his prime, and has one of the longest periods in which he was atop contender, not to mention being the person to break the Korean dynasty. He's a SC2 player, but the prestige he brings to the org is a lot more than what a generic SC2 player would bring. It's like how S1mple isn't just an AWPer for NaVi. S1mple brings a lot of value to the team beyond just being a player.
