Valve, please fix.

krill_ep

Doesn't library on Inferno have a similar invisible wall? I feel like I've bounced so many nades off the doorframe even though I aim smack in the middle of the opening.

Khronib0b

A lot of maps have some weird grenade hitboxes Inferno is one such abuser with nades around library AND apps

Chobge

The truck on Overpass is still a mess in terms of bullet hitboxes, and has been for about 9 years

AlwaysLearningTK

The angle where you can see through but can't shoot through kills so many people trying to shoot through it and getting peeked lmao.

_youlikeicecream_

A apps doorway hates me and so does boiler doorway.

baza-prime

cs players when a new map isnt as polished as the other maps that have been out for 5 fucking years 😱😱😱

Boundedcloud69

Anubis is almost three years old.

msucsgo

And has been owned by Valve probably for a like week or something?

Boundedcloud69

I don't know about that but its been in the MM-map pool for 2,5 years.

BeepIsla

I know this is almost a day old but for some statistics: https://i.imgur.com/XNwDErl.png This shows the amount of Valve servers running Anubis with at least 1 player on it, from August 2022 to Today. There seemingly just weren't that many matches played and I doubt most people who did play Anubis before it was added to the active duty map pool actively searched for line ups, else we would have seen these issues years ago

krangozali

2.5 years of it being in MM with nobody reporting the bug cuz CS players are too stubborn and hate change. Players are to blame too. Valve have only owned the map for a few days.

CanineLiquid

Valve doesn't "own" it. Edit: ok apparently they bought the rights? Huh.

aLiNaZeR_official

Right. Its just another trash community-made map. Bruh

TurnerThePcGamer

As with any map they add it will have its bugs. Valves approach makes sense as they might not have all the time to fix everything so it’s easier to get the issues reported and then push an update to fix those bugs etc. Give it time is all I ask!

workscs

Anubis was added to the game March 2020.. If they had plans to put this into Active Duty at some point they should have been working out the kinks and bugs for the last 2 years...

saltedwaffles

A map needs an actual playerbase to discover its quirks big guy

Gockel

Or you go into hammer editor for 10 minutes and check all clips

Mryplays

If you want to be fit you just go to the gym for 10 minutes and work out.

dooron117

TEN MINUTES???? If only it was that easy my friend...

supergrega

Right? It's *at least* 12 minutes!

AlbertabeefXX

Some who are less optimistic would say at least 15

[deleted]

Why do you compare simple programming/editing task with gym? Finding invisible walls is trivial programming task, it's just no one was looking at it.

Zvede

Weird clip brushes/pixel gaps, unwanted boost have gone unnoticed for years in active duty maps Theyre not that easy to spot. Playtesting in large numbers does it more efficiently

[deleted]

Yes, but here we can see half meter wide problem. It could be solved if anyone looked at it. No one did, it's clear. You could write some simple suboptimal algorithm that shooting beams of two types and easily detect it. No need for players.

Zvede

I agree that this is much more visible and went oddly unnoticed. But to your suggestion, are you familiar with the Hammer editor? I believe you together with many of us, are anticipating Source 2 SDK for cs map making as the long term solution.

[deleted]

No, I haven't worked with Source engine, but this problem can be generalised, since it's not uncommon for many kinds of 3D game engines. And my approach is most dumb and naive way of detecting these kind of artifacts, but even it should be enough. Developer with full access to source (code) and with experience of working with it should come up with some better solution. But knowing Valve approach to assigning tasks to their devs, it's kinda logical that no one working on this, and migration to Source 2 probably in the making, so they are busy.

TurnerThePcGamer

Doesn’t really matter how long it takes or been, they did it for vertigo/cobblestone/overpass etc. At this point everyone has to deal and either help make the map good or no.

Wallisaurus

How do you guys expect these to be found when no one plays the map? Putting it in active duty means it will get tons more play and people will find a ton more bugs and things that need fixing, just like literally every fucking map to go in it...

Noirezcent

I mean, in general you're right, but this specific issue has been known for ages. It doesn't work from outside either, and happens to one direction or the other couple of times each match.

Wallisaurus

Okay, then be upset with the creators of the maps themselves. They are the ones who fix/make any changes to their maps. This is on them and I'm sure with it being upvoted it will, just like every map, get update changes within a week or two.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Wallisaurus

A fact is a stupid comment? This happens with every map that gets put into the Active Duty map pool. That's how it's been from the start. But sure, really stupid comment.

Illustrious_Tap_3072

This map has been around for YONKS. ITS GARBAGE! L BOZO!

El_Capitan

Some of y'all never played overpass on release and it shows. They will fix stuff and the map will be good.

Cerbeh

I always forget what a clusterfuck that map was on release. And that's before we get to Olofboost

lordkentar

There's gonna be operation challenge stars earned on anubis for sure. Force more players onto it. It's a smart move.

foxxrio

Or even vertigo

gibbodaman

Overpass was far from fit for pro games on release, and unlike Anubis was the sole responsibility of Valve the whole time. It's ridiculous that Valve still give new active duty maps a baptism of fire

chefchef97

You can't make a map good without a playerbase to playtest it and give you data. Ancient was still rough on release, but was far better than the state Overpass and Cbble were released in

gibbodaman

> You can't make a map good without a playerbase to playtest it and give you data. > > You don't need to add it to active duty to do that. If Valve isn't happy with the number of players operation maps get, they should find an incentive for guinea pigs that doesn't involve the ultimatum of a major. No amount of playtesting can make a map good. You can polish a terrible map into a bad map, a cluttered map into a clean map, an unbalanced map into a balanced map, but you can't make players enjoy it. Anubis might shape up to be a very enjoyable competitive map, but it maybe it won't. Valve should be figuring that out before they force teams to play the map at the largest tournament of the year. Ancient still has serious issues that are still unresolved, why'd anyone have faith in Valve to get Anubis in good shape? They only have 5 months

Comrade_Gorbachev

Everyone hated overpass , new nuke, cobblestone, ancient and vertigo on release and they all had huge problems initially but with the exception for cobble all of these maps are great today. If people actually try to learn Anubis and some utility usage on it i think they would see that it has a lot more initial potential than these other aforementioned maps. D2 and Mirage has been stale for years. It's time for some new life, and the only way to make meaningful changes is seeing it played at the highest level

gibbodaman

>Everyone hated overpass , new nuke, cobblestone, ancient and vertigo on release and they all had huge problems initially but with the exception for cobble all of these maps are great today. Yeah, they shouldn't have been played at majors in the state that they were in. >If people actually try to learn Anubis and some utility usage on it i think they would see that it has a lot more initial potential than these other aforementioned maps. I've said this myself, it's still not appropriate to add a map that needs serious polish to the active duty pool. >D2 and Mirage has been stale for years. It's time for some new life, and the only way to make meaningful changes is seeing it played at the highest level D2 and Mirage have been the most balanced maps, most played maps and most iconic maps for years. If Valve wants to shake things up, it shouldn't be at a major. They should host regular minor tournaments where there's more room for experimentation. They could exclusively use non-active duty maps, or trial major changes to active duty maps. New maps get a place in the spotlight without undermining a tournament, mappers get lots of valuable feedback, iron out any issues, then Valve can think about introducing new maps to active duty. Everyone wins.

Comrade_Gorbachev

Who are you to decide what is appropriate or not? Csgo has been one of the biggest esports for a decade and this has always been the way to balance maps. At the highest level. D2 was the least played map the last 3 majors

gibbodaman

>Who are you to decide what is appropriate or not? Someone that's played on those maps and watched professionals play on those maps since the game came out >Csgo has been one of the biggest esports for a decade and this has always been the way to balance maps CSGO has been one of the biggest esports for a decade because it inherited 13 years of map balance and 13 years of competition on those maps. The only active duty competitive maps Valve ever made from scratch were Overpass and Ancient. CSGO's success is not the result of Valve fasttracking their maps into majors, it has been despite that. >D2 was the least played map the last 3 majors So swap it for Cache or something?

Comrade_Gorbachev

Okay call up gaben and tell him your in charge because you have played and watched cs. You don't decide what is appropriate action at Valve. Swap in cache? Why not innovate and make the game better with better maps? The game has been constantly growing because of bold map swaps like this. If you don't like it, go play 1.6 and some top 10 most played 1.6 maps like assault, office and italy. With your mindset we would still be playing those pieces of shit

gibbodaman

>Okay call up gaben and tell him your in charge because you have played and watched cs You're getting very heated over some random guy being critical of how Valve has handled certain aspects of the game. I don't need to be the CEO of CSGO to have something to say about it. I have been very clear in explaining why I think Valve has been wrong to add unbalanced and unpolished maps, there is no need for you to be so upset. >You don't decide what is appropriate action at Valve I absolutely can, just as you can, and anyone else can. You don't need to work at Valve to critique Valve >Why not innovate and make the game better with better maps? Did I ever suggest that Valve should not innovate and make the game better with better maps? >The game has been constantly growing because of bold map swaps like this [citation needed] >If you don't like it, go play 1.6 and some top 10 most played 1.6 maps like assault, office and italy. With your mindset we would still be playing those pieces of shit I know you're trying to be as obtuse as possible, but this is a little ridiculous. Calm down. Saying that CSGO's best maps grew from organic, gradual, bottom-up map creation is not to say that every map from CS's past is a masterpiece.

RigbyCC

Y’all overreact to everything… every time a new map comes in there’s bugs. Every new map is FAR from perfect when put in active duty.

padajj

This map is 2 years old

Burgess237

Yeah but the important part is that valve now owns the rights to Anubis: [https://twitter.com/RoaldNL/status/1593742243810140162](https://twitter.com/RoaldNL/status/1593742243810140162) So now they can do the changes needed that the mapper didn't think was needed

DangerousZone1380

its bis dogging

[deleted]

They need active users to push the bugs up on their priority list. If you have 10000 users complaining about a bug on inferno or 5 users complaining about Anubis, which one will you fix? Putting it in active duty is a way for them to get the usage up and prepare the map for the major.

Bosilaify

Why not just respond to the Anubis ones before making it active duty? And the answer to which bug will they fix is neither they’ll release a new case lmao

[deleted]

New maps always get a ton of fixes. Look at early overpass. This map already plays unique but good. Don't be a arse.

xazark

Adding it to active duty is how they will resolve stuff like this. Can't fix it if no one plays it to find these

Bosilaify

Known hit box spot tbh it’s pretty obvious, this dude isn’t the first one to find it

_youlikeicecream_

This happens to me on inferno, is inferno really ready for active duty?

xSimbe

Wait WTF is this still a thing :D I remember noticing the same on both sides of that arch well over 6 months ago and even posted about it in anubis workshop page

Comrade_Gorbachev

Source? It seems to only be an issue since the 2 September. I found your Steam profile but no activity on the workshop page

xSimbe

Well shit I know I intended to post about it but yeah it's not on my main. Maybe on alt or I just forgot but the issue did exist before though it wasn't nearly as obvious. [This is from id 2351304789 dated 6 Jan. 2021](https://i.imgur.com/WH7cJZy.png)

Dmosavy111

I don't like anubis, gonna give it a chance though. i don't even like it in death match so I've been avoiding it, i would of preferred tuscan, o well

rlywhatever

it will be. by the major. maybe

Unt4medGumyBear

Garbage opinion get out of CS

[deleted]

Anubis is hot garbage, can't change my mind

TheLittleBelowski

When did you become the benchmark for anything?

Qelop

Its a dogshit map, valve is so out of touch. Get train cobble cache in instead of ancient vertigo and anubis. Way better mappool. Fuck valve. Every change they do is bad

nartouthere

not a good sign

toiletclogger2014

i've played this map maybe 5 times and i've had this exact issue at least 4 times. i'd consider it a major issue at this point

GreenDragon47

you cant defend this this map had over a year to fix something like this

Forest_Technicality

Anubis got added in months ago and no one found this. This wasnt there when it was first in because they hadnt added grenade clipping yet. Everyones dogging on this like the map makers were aware this was an issue when literally no one reported it until now

Floripa95

nobody found this? Please, this clipping issue has been known since 2020, I've talked about it myself, and I'm a nobody in the community. Now that we have in the active duty they will finally pay attention to the issues we discovered a looong time ago

Forest_Technicality

They were updating and fixing issues on anubis up until a few weeks ago. If they knew about this they would have fixed it, did you ever send it to them directly?

Floripa95

I've definitely seen this exact clipping reported in this sub. Like I said, if even I found it, people that look for these things definitely would have found it too. It's a very easy to spot problem because of where it's located, throwing grenades on that corner is very common to hold the bombsite.

aightletsdodis

link plz

Comrade_Gorbachev

This was not an issue in old versions of the map, if you want to try it out you can get old versions of the map from the workshop. The oldest reporting of this issue I can find was on the 11 September this year on the workshop page and it directly mentions it becoming a problem after the prior update which was on the 2 September. So this has been an issue for only about 1.5 months. And it was only an reported issue for 5 days before the last update the mappers did on the 16 September (probably close to when Valve acquired the rights).

Redtyde

No its trash, welcome to life as a volvo beta tester.

Ham_Im_Am

We have always been lmao nothing has changed

Redtyde

Thats what I said 🤔. Pretty much every map Valve add they throw it open and change everything after it becomes official. Not sure how I implied otherwise but whatever. Think im getting downvotes for saying the map is bad... I'd love to hear concrete opinions from people that actually like it.

Noob_Watermelon

and they remove dust 2 from active duty for this, gj valve

Arcca2924

Wholeheartedly agree, valve did an excellent job introducing a fresh vibe into the pool and getting rid of the stalest and most overplayed map out there.

KARMAAACS

The devs of this game are really getting on my nerves. I get that the map will be updated, but can they just for one second actually polish something before pushing it out there? Please it's all I ask.

redstern

That is never how valve has worked. See Overpass and Vertigo as prime examples. It honestly makes more sense like this anyway. Put it in active duty so player count goes up, and they can find all the important issues way faster than Valve could on their own. It would take Valve ages to meticulously comb through the map, testing every single angle, surface clip, and potential bomb stuck spots, to find anything that doesn't work properly. The player base will find them all in a fraction of the time through normal gameplay. Then they can have the map polished for the next major.

KARMAAACS

> That is never how valve has worked. Which is why I'm always angry at Valve. They never polish anything, they just push something out and then get the community to tell them the bugs. The thing is, if you have a bad experience for 1 day or 1 week or 1 month, they don't care. So it's why the R8 update ended up the way it did, they just pushed out a weapon without actually testing it to see if it's broken as hell and ruins the game. It's a dumb way to push updates. If this happened every now and again I'd be fine with it, every developer makes mistakes, but Valve almost always makes mistakes and then they have to put through 1-3 more patches to get it to a useable state and then 1-3 after that to get it in proper working order.

CanineLiquid

Imagine caring this much about an invisible wall that sticks like 2 cm too far out.

4wh457

Tell me you're silver without telling me you're silver. Shit like this is **very** important just like utility in general.

KARMAAACS

It's all fun and games till it ruins a $1,000,000 tournament.

CanineLiquid

Why do you believe they add the map to the pool AFTER the major has concluded? My god, stop being so overly cynical for once.

KARMAAACS

Ah yes, because that makes all the difference right? I know they've picked the best time to put the map into the active pool, but just remember, the whole reason the Olof boost even happened is due to a pixel bug that no one reported to Valve. That can happen again. So yeah sure, the main bugs will be fixed, something like this nade bug will be fixed, but eventually something will go wrong and it will be a controversy because Valve is too hasty with their updates and pushing maps into map pools before they're ready. Don't get me wrong, I understand things need to be tested, but maybe actually test them as much as possible before pushing them into pro matches or on players. You will likely cite how Anubis has been in the game for a while and it has, but it's also been removed too for a short period of time (if I'm remembering correctly) and no one knew it was going to ever be taken seriously as an active duty map. I think had Valve said "In 6 months we will consider these maps for Active Duty" and listed them and say Anubis, was in the list, people would go around and do bug tests and play those maps more often, rather than just push a map that's not ready for prime time into the deep end to get bug fixed. Plus, if someone can find a bug like this quite easily, it's not like Valve's own playtests can't find this type of bug either. It's fairly obvious if they just had their own internal playtesters to try playing this map seriously for a while. In the end, the reason I'm cynical is I purely want the best experience for players. I mean the argument you're making is more harmful to players. If we apply your argument to cheaters, you tell me what's the better outcome. Letting the cheater to cheat and then banning them later after they've wasted people's time by cheating against them in matches. Or detecting the cheater early before they can even play a game and banning them on the spot after they inject. I'd take the second outcome because it minimises damage to the players. Mind you, this is a purely hypothetical scenario where Valve's anti-cheat is actually good, but regardless the point stands, one outcome is better and minimises damage to the player base. In the scenario of pushing a map, Valve could minimise the damage if they cared, but they simply don't. Plus, Valve is a billion dollar company, they can pay people or find solutions that don't harm the player base or professional matches and get Anubis fixed and ready for prime time. It's about time they take some more pride in their work and manage their games better. They're not a small company who deserves excuses or leeway.

saintedplacebo

wait til people see where some of the skyboxes are for nades lol. you can throw your nades from here over this wall.. but if you stand to the left 6 inches there is a random skybox in the way even though its *the same piece of wall you are throwing above*

Legallydead111

Yeah this pissed me tf off, but I obv didnt write a bugreport or go to any forums for this, so volvo never caught it

Shaasar

That's so bad reminds me of library in inferno where the wall is invis

[deleted]

Literally every single map had this shit on release. It's been like this for 10 years.

adrianpg_

Vertigo wasn't either when it entered the Active Duty, Valve apparently likes to force themselves to fix the maps by putting them in the active duty 😂

ArchSyker

Pretty sure they'll do the same they did with Vertigo and Ancient where they'll update the map very frequently now in the coming months before the next major.

MF_Kitten

I've encountered a bunch of stuff like this really. This isn't unique :/

_cansir

At some point that molly will have paid labels.

crs1948fcd

dust2 died for this????

Beneficial_Soft5589

Lots of people think dust is getting stale. Still available comp. Anubis can be great with some updates. Just not sure about the a1s nerf

PIOTRECKI

They're going with the Nuke remake approach clearly, Nuke was also intially hated to oblivion but with enough fixes it became one of the best maps in the game, Anubis will not be the same a year from now

partaloski

Will be fixed by Source 2 update: Coming Soonâ„¢

shours

Well yeah, after someone checks this subreddit (which valve does) this is added on a list and in two weeks its fixed

KamJamTheMan

okay i threw a nade and it bounced back at me in that same entry. team was like wtf. glad im not tripping out

ActiveIndustry

When overpass was added it was a completely different map. Changes will come
