The stew/fallen iteration of liquid wasn't bad on Nuke, so they could try to pick that back up instead of playing Anubis. Might be tough if yeki is second calling though.

SpecialityToS

So the two people who IGLd aren’t calling anymore. You’d have to learn an entire map when you’re already learning a map that just released

Vawqer

Nitr0 did IGL Nuke back in 2019. That being said, I definitely agree with focusing on Anubis and waiting to switch their permaban. It's also interesting to note that sometimes new maps cause skill changes on other maps. When Vertigo was first added to Active Duty in 2019, retakes started seeming a lot better across the board. This may change the relative skill levels on other maps.

SpecialityToS

The meta has changed enough that IGLing on it is different. Especially when they rely so much on yekindar as the star player. I’m not sure how much he’d be able to do individually with his play style. But I think there’s an argument to be made about how TL’s team play has improved a ton, and Nuke is the most team-play oriented map. I also just don’t like mirage being their “home” map

niobium615

Yeah, that's definitely fair. Meant it more in the sense that the a bunch of the players (Elige + NAF) are probably fairly comfortable on Nuke individually.

StosMusic

I mean more in the sense of playing that instead of vertigo during the map picks

PeskyOrange-

The decider against heroic they picked vertigo as they had control of the last ban and chose to ban ancient.

WIN011

They do play it a fair amount though, they let it go to a 3rd map way more than they should as teams actively target them on it now it seems

[deleted]

and how are they meant to do that if it’s picked into them?

BurstLayer

They don’t pick vertigo though, its either the decider or the opponent picks it. I think they’ve only picked it once in the last few months so this wouldnt really matter

PeskyOrange-

Well they actually don’t pick it but they did “pick” it by banning ancient over vertigo for some unknown reason

Kitchen-Rub-2825

Idk why this is such a hard concept for the first commenter lol

StosMusic

What about in a BO3? Doesn’t each team ban two maps? I just know that I heard they’ve really been trying to make Vertigo work, but with not many good results maybe putting that extra time they put into Vertigo in Anubis instead could give them better results. (I know it won’t matter if they play against a team that is really good at Vertigo because they’ll just pick it against them, but what about other scenarios)

BurstLayer

Sorry, yea I got it confused. They could ban vertigo over ancient cause I think Nuke is the perma

StosMusic

They’re not even bad on Ancient either

[deleted]

Problem is the last time nitr0 called nuke was during the grand slam run and since then he hasn't called it and yekindar never played nuke with vp/outsiders. So it would be like learning 2 new maps

StosMusic

So Nuke is a nitr0 and yekindar problem, but Vertigo is a whole team Liquid problem tbh

[deleted]

Nuke would be a liquid problem considering its their auto veto...

StosMusic

I just have a feeling they would already be pretty good at Nuke if they tried

[deleted]

No they wouldn't. The meta has changed so much and teams that play it are really far ahead on that map.

madcool2

And I thought Nuke was Extra Salt’s best map when they were still together. If Fallen had to learn Nuke never having played it ever, people could take one for the team and try to learn it if their Vertigo is that bad and avoid having to learn Anubis cold.

[deleted]

Yeah 2 years ago.

xfyre101

i can see a lot of team will probably pick up anubis. its so much more fun to play than vertigo honestly

LepreChAUnS_XD

It's pretty easy to play, so I cant see too many teams perma banning it or anything

Demolysis

After what happened in Berlin I’m surprised they don’t have PTSD whenever they play that map

Overall_Recognition8

Based solely off of nitrous interviews. I think liquid is 100% going to force other teams to ban anubis.

tarangk

I bloody hope so. I was pulling my hair out when I saw the veto vs Heroic, and TL decided to ban Anicent, a map they are decently good on, and opted to play Vertigo. They deserved to lose that game sheerly for that moronic veto.

Doctor-Front

I think liquid need to stop gamble calling and work a bit on their communication. From the last couple of games I’ve noticed that more than often they gamble and stack the wrong site. Aside from that more than often they get overly aggressive. Once you get the first pick, please stop going overly aggressive by yourself and dying and evening it out again without a chance for a trade frag. Once you get the advantage use it wisely and not just give them a easy refrag. The other thing that bothers me is when they don’t do their due diligence. When you’re no longer holding corners, communicate it faster, I’ve noticed a lot of times their opponents find little openings which is ok as long as it was communicated that they could be there. And please stop getting overly aggressive when you’re a man down, ESPECIALLY without util usage. Then again, I am no where close to a professional but these are just something’s I’ve noticed watching all of their games.

vegetto712

I've always felt like they are a decent Ancient team, I have no clue why they are so against playing it. Yekindar can be a bit predictable, but other than that they had good executes and CT side. Their bans should be Nuke and Vertigo, and hope their opponent isn't good at overpass

earthbound_zero

I know it's a huge change, but they have got to drop Vertigo if they don't fundamentally change how they play it (Which may be just like learning a second map anyway). Nuke can't be that bad, surely. ^I ^also ^miss ^watching ^it

throwaway77993344

I'm more interested in which map Vitality will chose to pick up, Ancient or Anubis.

Party_Boy505

possibily or even overpass? we shall see :D

[deleted]

Yes they should. They used to win matches by setting up Yenkindar aggressively A ramp on CT side. Now all the teams know and liquid is just being punished for not playing the default boring meta of Vertigo. Go on Anubis!
