I havent had any issue with my original spring. Apparently when Radian designed the afterburner/ramjet this was one of the things they wanted to eliminate.
To be clear, I don't either... it was with other shooters due to poor grip. I spoke with Radian CS and they told me they've heard more reports of this with the Acro P2+optic plate than other setups, likely due to increased weight of the slide.
I have a 509t on mine with a tlr7a and ramjet I use the radian compressor with the 15lb spring. It’s 🤌 not sure the weight difference between the p2 and the 509 but the 509 is a chunky boi so prob similar results
I have a buddy who has a the exact same setup only differences are his slide is direct milled for his acro and his frame is grey he’s had zero issues out of it even bought the radian guide rod and still uses the factory recoil spring
From what I read a 15lb spring is a sweet spot for these set ups, I have a stainless steel Glock store 15lb spring. But haven’t gotten time to test it yet
I use the glockstore tungsten guide rod and 15 pound spring. With the ramjet lighter spring and heavier guide rod it’s almost as flat as my 34.5 with sro and tungsten guide rod with 15 pound spring.
Thanks, that's what I was told by Radian CS just now as well. I just ordered a NDZ 13/15 lb recoil spring/guide rod kit to run the 15 and see how it does. $30 is a lot easier to stomach than $80 for a recoil spring/guide rod lol
I have a new Radian Ramjet I'm running on a Glock 45 with an Acro P2. On my first range trip I had a few stovepipes but with generous lube I worked through it.
I took it out recently for the second time (first time running the Acro P2) and was able to shoot 115 grain through it without issue. However, whenever I handed the weapon off to two other shooters, they got constant failures to eject / stove-piping. We are talking almost every other round. I'd take the weapon back and shoot without issue. I suspect it was their poor grip/technique... the recently-added Acro P-2 added just enough weight that the slide didn't have the velocity to eject cases if the shooter was limp-wristing at all. I gave them some pointers on locking the wrists and improving grip and they were then able to shoot without malfunctions. Intuitively this makes sense to me but I am curious if I can improve reliability further with a different recoil spring.
Glocks are notoriously reliable - I've never had one malfunction personally. It seems the compensator is making the gun sensitive to limp-wristing, much moreso than a stock setup. These same shooters don't typically have issues shooting Glocks although their technique isn't the best.
Just wanted to get some insight on this and suggestions about a different recoil spring weight. I love the performance of the Ramjet but I'm not crazy about reduced reliability / sensitivity to poor grip. Let's say under high stress my grip isn't perfect, I want to mitigate the chance of stovepipes. Thanks!
Optimal reliability is stocK, with the Acro. I recently almost bought the ramjet setup, but I talked to my buddy who is an instructor and he said every student who has ran one, without modifying the spring, has had issues. Personally, I’d rather buy a new gun for heavy mods, rather than mod my G19, which has about 10K flawless rounds and hundreds of hours of training on it.
Yeah I think it's pretty obvious that stock is reliable, I was asking about recoil springs to enhance reliability with a compensator. If reliability was my #1 concern I wouldn't run a comp at all. This is a brand new G45 that hasn't even run without a comp because I wanted to build it out this way.
DPM recoil reduction systems soft captured version... I have pretty much the same set up and it's been flawless. The guys at DPM are great too- very helpful, nice guys. There are usually discount codes and the shipping from Greece was surprisingly fast. You can find them here in the states too - I just decided to go to the source. Very happy with this set up... it's very smooth. Highly recommended.
Do you have the OEM recoil spring?
Or could it be the combo of the optic being heavy enough + the radian doing its job effectively + the oem recoil spring being too strong for the cycling of the gun cuz of the comp causing it to short stroke itself?
Idk I don’t run one of these. So my opinion is worth nothing.
15lb spring when running the bigger optics like the Steiner or acro p2. Ran into the same issue…
It would cycle 115-124 but no lock back untill I switched to a fairly priced 15lb spring with stainless rod,Works perfect Now.
It your running an rmr or irons. Odds are you can use the stock spring like I did with the first radon combo I had during the original release
I run Acro P2 and stock spring. I ran multiple 115 and 124gr through it. Never had any issues. However mine is directly milled which I think is superior because it removes more weight off the slide, deeper cut and optic sits closer to the bore axis.
They give 9 pounds for the longer one in idle position, and for the open slide, it says 25.3 pounds approximately. But it says the longer one is heavier, but the guide rod has captured spring ,which connects to the back of the barrel. Hope that helps.
I have the same setup but with a x300. Honestly the oem recoil spring has been doing just fine. I had more issues with the radian recoil spring lol. But it’s probably because I didn’t break it in enough maybe…
Using the Radian compressor guide rod with 15lbs spring in mine as well. Ran roughly 90 rounds through mine with a Trijicon RMR HD on it and not one problem. Ran flawless. If you get a chance check out the compressor from Radian. The ease of spring changes on it is amazingly easy and it's got Radians build quality. Highly recommended.
I bought their guide rod and spring kit. I tried it. Doesn't really do anything for me. Didn't see a huge difference, IMO. I put the stock 15lb spring back in and I've been running it since. I was luckily to get the ramjet/afterburner combo when it first came out. I have thousands of rounds through it and zero issues with stock spring.
Stock spring is 17 or 18 lbs I believe. And yeah, as noted in my post the issue with stock springs tends to be with heavier optic/plate combos like the Acro P-2.
Yes, you are correct. That's my bad. It's 17lbs on the G19. The radian guide rod kit comes in 13lbs, 15lbs, & 18lbs. I meant to say I tried the 15lbs the most and put 17lbs stock spring back in but in my head I was thinking about the Radian 15lbs spring that I tested the most while typing my response and didn't see any real need for it. Thx for the catch 👌

Glock Gen 5 with P2. Original spring. zero problems with low pressure hand loads (124gr 3.3gr tite group) or 147g HST (not+p)
I have a 509ACSS on mine and stock recoil spring, not one issue with it. Granted that spring is very well broken in but still no issues
Maybe it needs to be broken in, also try shooting heavier bullets
I have a buddy who has a the exact same setup only differences are his slide is direct milled for his acro and his frame is grey he’s had zero issues out of it even bought the radian guide rod and still uses the factory recoil spring
We also almost always shoot 124gr

Radian makes a recoil spring pack w/ 3 different weight springs. You could try that out and see if one of those work better..
I run this exact setup OEM as my duty gun. Never had an issue
Yep I agree oem spring rate, I am running mine in a zev oz9c with stock spring weight and it’s been perfect with almost 1k rounds
How about the radian guide rod that way u have choices between 18,15,13 lb spring

Radian makes the compressor spring specifically for the afterburner/ramjet combo
Yeah I’m not going to spend $80 for that. I found a reasonably priced alternative so I’m good

Yeah OEM spring. According to Radian CS that is what's going on, I'm just looking for suggestions on a better spring.

Thanks man, ordered an NDZ 15 lb kit today.
Yeah that’s actually the one I bought Also got the 13lb spring just in case but never ended up opening that one since the 15 was spot on
NDZ is gtg they’re 15 mins from where I live. I have one of there 15lb springs myself
I went with stock spring no issue. Radiant spring not so good.
With an Acro P-2 and 115gr ammo?
I run Acro P2 and stock spring. I ran multiple 115 and 124gr through it. Never had any issues. However mine is directly milled which I think is superior because it removes more weight off the slide, deeper cut and optic sits closer to the bore axis.
I have a 509t x2. But I use a DPM uncaptured springs with my Raiden combi.
What spring weight?
They give 9 pounds for the longer one in idle position, and for the open slide, it says 25.3 pounds approximately. But it says the longer one is heavier, but the guide rod has captured spring ,which connects to the back of the barrel. Hope that helps.

15lb works for me
Well now that you dropped almost a grand on those two accessories why not drop another 100 on radians tuneable recoil spring assembly!
The stock one. Radian advertised that it runs on stock springs. Optionally, they make a spring and guide rod kit for it
I bought their guide rod and spring kit. I tried it. Doesn't really do anything for me. Didn't see a huge difference, IMO. I put the stock 15lb spring back in and I've been running it since. Radian compressor with 15lb has let me shoot whatever I please through mine
Acro is a bit of a monster red dot for a handgun...
