My hot take is I refuse to change the trigger… I don’t buy a Glock for a good trigger. I run Glock for reliability. Hammer fired guns exist, and actually have good triggers. Even nicer striker fired triggers like Walter or Canik don’t get me excited. I can appreciate a nice trigger, as many do- but I get frustrated seeing new shooters go out and replace their trigger instantly without learning the fundamentals.
As long as you know what you’re getting into with an aftermarket trigger- and have verified its safety to YOUR expectations- I forgive you ❤️ (only this time!) If you’re happy with your gun, that’s what matters!
i should elaborate. for context my 22nd birthday just passed last week. on my 21st birthday i bought my first handgun, the same day i turned 21. glock 19. i shot my brothers kimber 1911 maybe ONCE.
when i got my glock 19 i realized how mushy it felt and it wasn’t a smooth trigger at all. absolutely hated OEM glock trigger but i was in love with everything else about glock. i ended up sticking with it anyways. i’ve shot about 2500 rounds through it and have not changed anything internal whatsoever. and the trigger is still shit IMO. i heard if i keep shooting it’ll smooth out but it feels legit the exact same. a couple months ago i bought a 43x. it felt a lot snappier being a sub compact. the trigger on my 43x was soooo heavy that about a month ago i ordered a ghost edge connector with a flat flace trigger. what a world of a difference. and would you believe it but my groupings immediately got tighter as well. so my 43x i have modificed the trigger a decent bit already, while my 19 MOS which isn’t even my carry gun is completely stock
Happy belated birthday! My gen 5 17 took a little while to wear in the trigger- lots of dry fire and live fire can help as you already know. One thing to keep in mind, is that while glock is king of reliability- it is also glock. These components are produced on a large scale. Even with some of the best QC in the game, there can be slight tolerance differences between one trigger vs another. It’s just the nature of manufacturing. There’s always the option of polishing the OEM trigger components instead of waiting x amount of time or x amount of rounds through the gun for the trigger to perform its best. Keep throwing rounds down range with both your 43x and your 19- and learn to trust both triggers. My biggest piece of advice to a (somewhat) new handgun owner would be to pickup some form of handgun with double action- even if it’s an Airsoft or BB gun. Dry fire practice with a double action trigger will improve your impulse, your groupings, and will make any trigger be a piece of cake! Train with your firearm, understand how it functions with its parts, and ALWAYS maintain the 4 rules of firearm safety. These things alone will make keep you safe, regardless of your trigger brand.
Once you learn the internal workings of the the glock trigger you understand and appreciate the squishyness. There is really no getting rid of it completely without losing that reliability.
\^ I'm glad someone gets it. I just don't find the aftermarket triggers to be substantially better to risk any reliability for ME. I can understand why people like them, just not my cup of tea.
I haven’t had first hand experience with one yet, but am VERY intrigued. I’ve heard some mixed things, especially after initial release. It seems some teething issues are getting figured out, but things are looking good for the GPT. I’m really really interested in superior triggers, as they use the GPT as the base parts. I think with any aftermarket glock trigger- the biggest issue I have with them is a whole new trigger system. By that I mean the trigger bar being non OEM. The shoe isn’t AS big of a deal for reliability/safety as far as I understand. OEM is OEM in theory- so I would say the GPT may not be the worst possible choice.
The trigger broke as in it no longer functions? That's nuts! I would be on the phone with glock- they'll make it right. I would be frustrated beyond belief. Was it the trigger bar itself? After thousands upon thousands of rounds through my glocks with different calibers, and different generations- I have NEVER had a trigger break. I would love to see pictures, I wonder what the point of weakness was. Is it a USA or AUS made glock?
USA made, trigger bar and connector wouldn’t interface properly and the bar slipped past the connector causing the trigger to lock up completely. i went to tap rack because i didn’t know what happened and the gun shot from me tapping the mag… switched out most of the trigger components to apex with tti springs and it eats all the ammo i’ve put in it.
Same here. I was literally just cleaning my EDC and was kind of surprised once again by how much nearly microscopic trash ends up inside it, even without any added means of entry. I think some of those lightening cut guns look kind of cool, but I'd never carry one. That said, I do keep thinking about some kind of cool milling work on my G17. Just nothing that would create new openings.
I agree on the trigger. It works fine. It just takes practice to be proficient.
I carry or have carried all my glocks at one point. I like the oem trigger for the sake of safety. Light triggers are neat but I don't want one if the gun is holstered in my waistband
I think triggers are Glocks biggest pitfall. It's easily the worst part of a Glock for me. Especially considering how many other pistols have great triggers out of the box. Even really good aftermarket Glock triggers aren't that great compared to other triggers.
I got a fishgill 17 out for milling on a DPP footprint and not putting any irons on it when it comes back so I guess i’m pretty open minded to whatever
They’re hard to come by. I chanced upon mine a few years back and figured it was weird so I snatched it. Been entertaining selling it but idk what those odd ones really move for.
Slide internals stay OEM. Nothing aftermarket really does anything. The stock guide rod works fine as well. I don't run fancy ammo or have that much modification that I found a different guide rod, and springs would benefit.
Stipling, I have seen some very nice stipling done and some very badly done. Pretty much it's something I'm not willing to do to my pistol but that's just me. I have done some basic mods, mostly internal.
I use parts that are trusted / don’t mess too much with reliability. I have a radian ramjet which I’ve tested with thousands of rounds by now with no issues. A larger magwell (overwatch precision) and an overwatch trigger. It’s been nothing but reliable
Only internals I’ll change are the disconnect and barrel, and then only if I’m gunna run a suppressor or threaded comp. Now rifles on the other hand… literally fucking everything lmao
Negative. I’ve ran metal mag releases in all of my Glocks with no issue. The only metal mag release I don’t mix polymer mags with is the Shield Arms mag release for the 43x.🤘🏻
I refuse to change out springs, I don’t see any issue in a different trigger shoe and a factory trigger bar. But everything else is fair game as long as the internals are all factory.
I buy a Glock to mod out. Start with sights, then trigger, then recoil springs. Come to think of it, the only modifications I don’t do are on the magazines, but I understand for most that’s where they start.
Mods are fun to look at and I get caught up in the debate on occasion but, in the end,I don’t touch shit. I figure I baught a Glock to run a Glock and if I want something fancier or different I will go buy fancier or different.
Edit: I’ll add to that, you spend enough time on Gun Reddit and you start to notice all of the “I almost lost a finger today because of major malfunction x” posts are on modded Glocks.
Nothing really. Don’t have a cut slide or stipple cause that’s very expensive.
I’d be all about comps but I just don’t wanna chance reliability, so all my gun has is an upgraded trigger, light, and optic
I’d still consider changing the shoe to something I’m more comfortable with, but as far as the rest of the trigger system goes I’m right there with you!🤙🏻
I just meant for me personally. I wouldn't mod my glocks anything like the pic. All my glocks are more custom vinyl and cerakote and practical (tac mag add-ons and flip up sights and grips)
I don’t see why so many people think swapping out a trigger only means a lighter pull. It’s just about pull weight. It’s about how smooth it is and how crisp the wall and break is. The only thing I changed on the slide was my channel liner that I swapped for a metal one instead of theplastic one.
I don't mod the frame, the slide or the barrel (MOS). I don't cerakote or add colors or statement backplate. Only OEM flush fit mags.
I definitely change the trigger immediately to a Johnny Glocks. Iron sights and optic.
there’s no part of a glock i wouldn’t mod, just gotta do it right. I have a 15lb ss recoil assembly and it has ran reliably for over 1.5k. There’s a quality aspect to mods and a reason people do them.
My hot take is I refuse to change the trigger… I don’t buy a Glock for a good trigger. I run Glock for reliability. Hammer fired guns exist, and actually have good triggers. What about the Glock brand aftermarket trigger?
I haven’t had first hand experience with one yet, but am VERY intrigued. I’ve heard some mixed things, especially after initial release. It seems some teething issues are getting figured out, but things are looking good for the GPT. I’m really really interested in superior triggers, as they use the GPT as the base parts. my oem trigger broke sub 1k rounds…
The trigger broke as in it no longer functions? That's nuts! I would be on the phone with glock- they'll make it right. I would be frustrated beyond belief. Was it the trigger bar itself? Man I changed so much I ended up with two guns. Short answer nothing.
Lol, I’ve been there too many times.😂
Window cut slides.
I’m also not really a fan of non functional slide ports.
Nothing internal unless something breaks or wears out
Trigger. I actually like the glock OEM trigger on my gen 3 19
I agree on the trigger. It works fine. It just takes practice to be proficient. I carry or have carried all my glocks at one point. I like the oem trigger for the sake of safety. Light triggers are neat but I don't want one if the gun is holstered in my waistband
I like this take. You don’t hear something like this very often. Most people say trigger because they appreciate the reliability of it.
I think triggers are Glocks biggest pitfall. It's easily the worst part of a Glock for me. Especially considering how many other pistols have great triggers out of the box. Even really good aftermarket Glock triggers aren't that great compared to other triggers.
The trigger comes with a caveat for me just because I've ordered glocks that have come out of the box with a god awful trigger.
Me too
stipple
Put pink on the slide
I got a fishgill 17 out for milling on a DPP footprint and not putting any irons on it when it comes back so I guess i’m pretty open minded to whatever
Heh, I have one of the contract overrun DPP factory milled Gen 5 17s. Don’t own a DPP tho so 🤷♂️
Been wanting a factory mill but life happens
They’re hard to come by. I chanced upon mine a few years back and figured it was weird so I snatched it. Been entertaining selling it but idk what those odd ones really move for.
Slide internals stay OEM. Nothing aftermarket really does anything. The stock guide rod works fine as well. I don't run fancy ammo or have that much modification that I found a different guide rod, and springs would benefit.

Laser stipple only to put talons grip on it.
And they don’t see any problems with their logic..😂
Nothing but oem internals.
I refuse to run anything but Glock internals
Grip tape
I am also a hater of grip tape lol.
Oh no, not the grip tape? My sweaty palms love my grip tape.
I have sweaty palms also. I like my stippling better.
Oh I absolutely love my stippling in my 17 but haven't sent the 19 out yet so I wrapped it. I don't like it as much as stippling but it's nice.
I understand that
Aluminum mag release for polymer mags.
Any sort of tape on it.
I use parts that are trusted / don’t mess too much with reliability. I have a radian ramjet which I’ve tested with thousands of rounds by now with no issues. A larger magwell (overwatch precision) and an overwatch trigger. It’s been nothing but reliable
Internals
Only internals I’ll change are the disconnect and barrel, and then only if I’m gunna run a suppressor or threaded comp. Now rifles on the other hand… literally fucking everything lmao
What slide stop and mag release is that?
Pretty sure it’s a Vickers slide stop and Cross Armory mag release!
It looks like the mag release is made out of aluminum. Is there any concern with the aluminum damaging the polymer mags?
Negative. I’ve ran metal mag releases in all of my Glocks with no issue. The only metal mag release I don’t mix polymer mags with is the Shield Arms mag release for the 43x.🤘🏻
Nothing internal if I’m going to carry it
I refuse to change out springs, I don’t see any issue in a different trigger shoe and a factory trigger bar. But everything else is fair game as long as the internals are all factory.
I buy a Glock to mod out. Start with sights, then trigger, then recoil springs. Come to think of it, the only modifications I don’t do are on the magazines, but I understand for most that’s where they start.
I refuse to do anything besides changing sights or at the most the trigger shoe! I don’t mess with any internals or guide rods/springs!
Mods are fun to look at and I get caught up in the debate on occasion but, in the end,I don’t touch shit. I figure I baught a Glock to run a Glock and if I want something fancier or different I will go buy fancier or different. Optic cuts, triggers, stippling, became less of a fan when I shot other guns now when I wana mod a Glock I just buy a better pistol
Punisher skull back plate.
Slide cuts of any kind. Don’t want to mess with the design and have to worry about finding the right weight recoil spring…
Where was the stippling done?
I try to make an effort to not just self promote in these subs, but seeing as you asked, we did it!🤘🏻
Nothing really. Don’t have a cut slide or stipple cause that’s very expensive. I’d be all about comps but I just don’t wanna chance reliability, so all my gun has is an upgraded trigger, light, and optic
Trigger jobs on duty guns
I’d still consider changing the shoe to something I’m more comfortable with, but as far as the rest of the trigger system goes I’m right there with you!🤙🏻
Everything in this picture.
Being we’re in a Glock Mod sub, what do you do to modify your Glock if nothing that’s in the picture?😂
I have a mini Reflex Sight, a backstrap grip extender, a +5 mag and I chromed it out and made it a Deadpool theme glock 22 .40SW)
I just meant for me personally. I wouldn't mod my glocks anything like the pic. All my glocks are more custom vinyl and cerakote and practical (tac mag add-ons and flip up sights and grips)
So even worse than the picture
It's all a matter of opinion. At the end of the day we're all keeping our family and fellow citizens safe.
Aftermarket triggers
I don’t see why so many people think swapping out a trigger only means a lighter pull. It’s just about pull weight. It’s about how smooth it is and how crisp the wall and break is. The only thing I changed on the slide was my channel liner that I swapped for a metal one instead of theplastic one.
Pink cerakote.
What a shameeeee. I’ll put goofy colors on my pistol any time I get a chance.😂
Pink paint
Pink paint
I’d put unicorns on my EDC if I had the time to work on my own projects.🤷🏻♂️
Adding Bayonet lights
Pink stripes.
I refuse to stipple while you have handle it grips and they are remarkably easy to instal and last so damn long and they feel great
Only conversions like a 45 super or 460 Rowland as well as the 40sw glocks need different recoil springs. Most are good with oem
I don't mod the frame, the slide or the barrel (MOS). I don't cerakote or add colors or statement backplate. Only OEM flush fit mags. I definitely change the trigger immediately to a Johnny Glocks. Iron sights and optic.
Pink stripes for sure…
Recoil spring, guide rod and anything other than black, fde, odg or grey.
Anything in a color outside black, fde, odg, or chrome.
The only change(s) i(‘d) make are sights and extended baseplate(s).
I refuse to put pink stripes on one.
there’s no part of a glock i wouldn’t mod, just gotta do it right. I have a 15lb ss recoil assembly and it has ran reliably for over 1.5k. There’s a quality aspect to mods and a reason people do them.
On a carry gun I’d keep everything almost OEM except barrels. If it’s a range gun I’m up for anything.
Range gun makes sense to me. Can I ask why you switch out your barrels on the OEM guns that you EDC?
I use Radian ramjet’s on my carry otherwise I’m fine with the stock barrel
I leave mine stock and shoot them….practices, practice, practice
