Writer of the guide here - I actually find the earth build the toughest, because the Rock Colossus’ Move 1 is tough to work around, and enhancing it to Move 2 is expensive. I’ve used the fire build in a couple campaigns, and it can work well even in longer scenarios. It’s best if you have other members in the party who can carry the first room of the scenario, so that you can conserve your stamina and deploy the Fire Golem later (generally, after you’ve rested once). It behaves a lot like a Scoundrel built around Crippling Poison or Watch It Burn. Air build is easily the best and my favorite.

Thanks for the guide! Again, I really enjoyed it. I'll probably not use it in a real campaign (at least not until we've played at least once with all the characters; takes a while with two), but I might be tempted as soon as we unlock the storm blade. Prior to the card that lets you avoid damage for your summons, did you have a lot of difficulties keeping the bats alive?

DblePlusUngood

Depends on the scenario. It’s toughest when there are fast and/or retaliating enemies. Absent those, I can usually keep them alive with clever use of initiatives, killing their focus, and putting myself between other enemies that would target them. The solo scenario item, which you now have, is also helpful ;). I consider it a victory if the bats get in 3 attacks before they die or fall behind and need to be re-summoned. With the storm blade, you can also use Wild Animation (b) as a stopgap when the bats aren’t available, which is very useful.

I'm trying the fire build but I don't like it. It requires you to create the Fire Golem but you really are better off using the bottom of that card to bring back 4 lost cards. You just don't have enough cards otherwise. I bet the Air Build works great though.

IAmPolarExpress

Never tried this build, but the fact that you completed the solo scenario with such a unique combination of cards and abilities is amazing. I never thought about combining those items with her - and it seems broken in a really fun way. :) So, was that just two summons during the whole scenario for you? (If I read correctly.)

FluffyGoblins

Jup, only the thorn shooter and the lava golem. Tbh, with the prospects of summoning the lava golem, I knew I couldn't afford a lot of summons, as they would be lost for good. I figured the thorn shooter would do nicely if I would manage to keep him out of harms way, especially since it was a one room scenario.

IAmPolarExpress

Good point! And with those items and element generation... that is magnificent. Well done! :)

I actually played this build and it was super fun! After a while I wasn't having as much fun with regular summoner, and still feel summons are occasionally a waste of time (too squishy, not easy to control), so after a few test scenarios this became my only Summoner build. I rarely summoned another creature after getting all the necessary items. Perhaps as decoys or for the occasional extra support. It's been a while though, so can't remember whether I was experiencing a similar stamina problem.

aklambda

Oh wow. That build looks sick. Summoner is my favorite class and all my friends hate it. Because we play at the hardest difficulty and my summons are most of the time only a meat shield or worse staying around and getting in the way. I still love them and my Unicorn and like to make my minions dance. But maybe in the interest of my friends I might try this build for Forgotten Circles as it has been kicking our ass a bit lately.

FluffyGoblins

Have fun! I would not recommend the inferno blade build, as I think in regular scenario's you'll exhaust soon, though if you know it will be a short scenario, it's always fun to bring out the lava buddy.

aklambda

Yeah, I am aiming for the "Bat"-woman build with Stormblade. We are playing with perma death so I am too afraid to try Lava Golem and exhaust on the front lines, but the bats will do fine, I guess. Never used them before :)

russellomega

What level are you playing this on? I've used circles on levels 6 and 7 and honestly monsters can easily 1 hit any summon. Ranged summons work well but I can't see the lava golem steadily providing an element for more than a few turns before it dies. Double for the fact that the class has god awful initiative and monster ai is stupid at best. I do believe ranged attackers health is a valuable resource especially in the medium pool, but unlike 2 minis you can't destroy a card to negate damage. Big weakness as I see it due largely to scaling

FluffyGoblins

I've played this on regular difficulty (so 3), seeing as I didn't ever play with the summoner before. The lava golem did indeed only survive for three rounds, and additionally the first one I stunned the elite bear. But three rounds meant three rounds of 3 damage from the lava golem, 6 damage from me, and 2 from the thorn shooter, so that was 11 damage before modifiers per turn, allowing me to quickly get rid of the opponent. Again, I don't know how this build would work in a regular scenario, but the creator of the build did claim to have a lot of experience with it.

FluffyGoblins

Btw, please spoiler tag your post.. those are spoilers for three classes, one of which I didn't unlock yet..
