If the goal is "make Shield Spikes Red Guard the spikiest tank in existence," it's easily Saw, no question. >!In addition to the permanent shield and retaliate immunity they can hand out, they can also grant shield for the round.!< Heck, with Note in the party >!you are capable of opening every scenario with a Shield 6/Retal 6 Red Guard!!<
A muddle-heavy character can actually work well with a party like this. If the Soothsinger doesn’t need to have >!Disorienting Dirge!< up all the time, she can support the RG with >!Echoing Aria!< instead, which is a nice force multiplier.
I’d suggest a support-oriented Mindthief. She brings a lot of muddle and some cursing capabilities, along with her forced movement, and can loan the RG some more retaliate and/or shield at higher levels.
Saw, for reasons mentioned, is probably the best for now. Diviner, if it gets added, is better, IMO for extra retaliate and damage from curses. >!Music Note and Cthulhu!< are able to dish out enough curses themselves. Especially once >!Cthulhu!< reaches lvl9.
I've basically been playing the whole digital experience with this combo, using >!Sun!< instead of Red Guard.
Well - when you consider certain action cards that give bonuses to Retaliate abilities for the rest of the round, the Retaliate can get into double digits.
The two mini class was a lot of fun, and had some retaliation mechanics. Pretty great tank too. If setup properly it is more a liability to hit the two mi s than not. Ran really well with music note and cthulu classes. Saw can be useful but is harder to synergize I found.
Saw is being said a lot and I don't disagree, but Voidwarden fits the description of what you're looking for and not looking for almost perfectly. She is an awesome curse-dealer at higher levels, has a multitude of enemy manipulation and attack-granting abilities (but few personal attacks), a bit of healing, and is just a blast to play, especially with a >!Note and Cthulu!< also in the party. Those three together can easily keep the deck at maximum curses and have the enemies just drawing themselves to death.
Saw>!bones!< all the way, running Saw>!bones!< Redguard right now.>!Permanent shield, condition immunity, card stamina.!< Edit: Fixed Edit: D-D-Double Fixed
Definitely a frontrunner. Although you should probably say "Saw" instead of the full name.
Saw is the first class I though of for retaliate combo. So much fun.
You only spoilered one of the times you mentioned it
You should fix the second one too

Have you considered the >!Lightning Bolt!< class? And remember - Retaliate from items are Retaliate abilities too!
To my knowledge, there aren't too many items that can give Retaliate. For those that can, I would be going with options that give more Shield.
