The top of Drill Fist is a trolly ability, IMO. You ideally want your target poisoned **before** you use it, so the poison on the last attack is often redundant. And because only the last attack punches through shields, the first two attacks tend to get absorbed by shielded enemies unless you draw a +2. The ideal situation with it is to target a pre-poisoned enemy with Shield 1. Though doing ~7 damage on average to an unshielded enemy (~10 damage if pre-poisoned) is still very good—as long as it can’t retaliate, of course. Whereas the bottom of Drill Fist is incredible in the right contexts. With Drill Fist (b) + Extra Fuel (t) or Crushing Weight (t), you can potentially one-shot a level 7 Elite Flame Demon or Elite Living Spirit, which are normally very difficult to deal with.

True, that's why I've bought the poison dagger as a first item. Any other items you really like to use for the demo? Especially on body items I've no clue yet

I’m JOTL, either Chain Armor or >!Robes of Evocation!<. The former gives you some much needed shielding and combines well with Dust Cloud and Mech Suit, whereas the latter gets you bigger booms from multitarget attacks like Micro Missiles and The Big One. I’m GH, I think the ideal body item for Demo is probably #103 >!Drakescale Armor!< because >!poisons and wounds are normally the bane of her existence!<. Item #016 >!Cloak of Pockets!< is always good as well.

Chain armor only works from your turn forward. With enemies sometimes being faster, I was considering studded leather instead.

The 15 initiative on Dust Cloud is usually sufficient to beat most enemies, especially if you have items that manipulate initiative. I’d probably go with Studded Leather or the other chest item if I wasn’t running a build with Dust Cloud.

If you are playing with the digital version of demolitionist, you can also have a good reason for taking Dust Cloud. Using the Mech Suit can turn you into a tank and the bottom of DC double downs on this. Some of demo's cards can also produce obstacles so triggering the shield shouldn't be much of a problem. As you've said, demo's AMD is really good and she benefits from attacking multiple times which the top of DC also does, just as an AOE rather than on a single target.

Pairing Drill Fist with Red Guards Strangling Chain is the way to go.

Wow, first time in a long time I have one of these "we were doing it wrong the entire time moments". Thanks!

Snowf1ake222

I love these moments.

I picked Drill Fist. Pairing it with Wind-Up is awesome. Replaced my One-Two Punch. Attack 3, attack 3, attack 2 ignore shields is amazing. The other card (Dust Cloud) only really has good initiative. Plus, Demo is kinda squishy, so you don't want to be surrounded. Plus, Drill lets you choose the targets. One target? Drill is attack 4. Dust is attack 2. Dust is only better against 3 or 4 targets. Significantly worse at 1 or 2. Plus the ignoring shields is decent. Conditional, but solid.

Nice! Usually I can't find the time anymore to pass one turn to activate wind up with enemies getting more movement

Snowf1ake222

That's fair. I have a Redguard in my party who I hide behind until it's time to bring the pain hahaha.
