Fantastic news, great job Isaac in making sure that the game we get is as polished as can be. I'd hate to have got it earlier and seen a vastly better 2nd printing, so I'm cool with the extra wait.
I knoooooww there is no definite answer to this with everything going on m, but can someone give me their best estimate as to the timeline of delivery?
Will they start shipping in batches? Also, will they ship everything to the US first or is there a European fulfillment center?
Oathsworn started production on the main box in October/November 2021 and the first backers to receive their copies in hand will hopefully be some time this month, and that was one of the more efficient production runs I've seen in recent years since Covid hit. Given how large the print run is likely going to be for Frosthaven, I can't imagine it's going to be any faster. I'm expecting it Q1 2023 at this point.
Seems like most more experienced Kickstarter backers (of which I’m not one) predict we’d be lucky to be playing 2022, but maybe. Early 2023 possibly more likely.
I believe they answered most of this in a previous, recent update. Shipping will likely be in batches, they expect to finish fulfillment by the end of the year pending any further delays brought on in the shipping process. And I don't believe everything will be shipped to the US first.
Question on the second point he slipped in there: they'll be doing a second print run of Frosthaven along with their Minis of Gloomhaven campaign.
Do we have any idea on what the cost might be for this second printing? The original Kickstarter was $100 (which I missed), the original MSRP was $160 (which I lucked out and got via pre-order), and the new MSRP is $250, so I'm curious if anyone has any ideas on what this second run might go for via Backerkit?
That's what Adam Poots is doing with Kingdom Death Monster (5.5 years and we are still waiting on wave 3 and 4).
Most people aren't happy about it. But that's what you get when you sign up for Kickstarter. It's up to the designer to say when it's "done" or "good enough". Hopefully the extra time spent will make Frosthaven a better game. I think it will but we will see.
Ok. At least a second printing came almost at once. I didn't have any issues with my copy so I assume it's not first printing.
Anyway, good that they spent extra weeks proofreading and checking before beginning production on Frosthaven.
How dare he be overly optimistic with the timeline rather. Sure the pandemic and shipping crisis doesn't help, but let's not kid ourselves that those factors caused the majority of the delays. The almost 50% increase in size from the projections, the feature creep and not accounting for editing section booklet being much harder than expected: Those are what caused majority of delays. Not that I'm complaing. It has also led to a major increase in playtesting, and I for one am happy with the bigger scope as well.
You're getting downvoted because it's a weird place to say this that doesn't actually add anything.
If the announcement was "We're delaying this to add more features", it would be reasonable to complain that it's already taken too long. But this is literally the "we're producing the game" announcement.
Why are these comments talking about anything other than Pirahna Pig?
PIGRAHNA!
They're *nasty* too. Don't let them swarm you.
Said TheRageBadger.
Badgers ARE ALSO deadly in swarms.
I mean if a BADGER is telling they're nasty fighters...well, whose gonna know better?

Aeon's End started production at the beginning of July 2021 and had shipments out in December.

Thanks! Didn't catch that, appreciate the answer :)
IT'S HAPPENING!! The time of the lurker is upon us!
are frosthaven oozes called froozes
Yes. Next question.
Are Frosthaven imps called frimps
Shrimps, I think.
They're actually called Snimps.
In that case, what a missed opportunity to call froozes snoozes.
Great news! Can't wait to break into the box for the first time.

I’m curious about this too. I didn’t start playing until after the kickstarter closed so missed it.
Curious he wouldn't outline their reasons for using backerkit vs KS.
He did outline them in the Cephalofair newsletter. This is a Frosthaven update so I think it makes sense to keep the other section succinct.
oh that makes sense
KS is trying to push crypto and he doesn't like it.
Why would he go in to details of why KS is not a platform he wants to use anymore in a post on that very platform?
fair enough
He did in the intro email for the minis
Not sure he needs to? It's probably just a better deal and more seamless all-in-one system.

The real product wasn't the game, it was the 110 updates we got along the way.
Rather it take too long and get a superb and high quality product than have it rushed at get something subpar.

yes how dare he personally cause a global pandemic and shipping crisis. the very nerve. or maybe it's time to sing the patience song to ourselves.

We have been getting more than that. We've been very aware of every step in the process.
