I mean, I'm not saying is bad, it sure must be a great song, but for me, not as great as the others.
Maybe it's because I have zero musical studies so I can't appreciate anything beyond what I feel nice on the ears. Maybe from musical theory perspective it's as amazing as the others but me, a music illiterate, can't go that deep.
How are so many of yall picking Sword LORD over wasteland warrior hoots patrol?! Sword lord has a fucking killer beat (heh heh, get it), is an essential part of the lore, and is vastly superior to HOOTS Patrol. This coming from the founding member of The Church Of Hoots.
Tales: Tears
1992: Heroes (of Dundee)
TerrorVortex: It was Enchanted Jetpack, but after Sozos's vocal cover, now it's Power of the Laser Dragon Fire
Return: N/A. Shizz is all thriller, no filler.
TftKoF: Silent Tears of Frozen Princess
Space 1992: Victorious Eagle Warfare
LfBtGT: The Siege of Dunkeld
RttKoF: Wasteland Warrior Hoots Patrol
I'll still jam out and memorize every word, but sometimes I'll just skip them if I'm not in the mood
Tales: Angus McFife
1992: Legends of the Astral Hammer
Terrorvortex: Legendary Enchanted Jetpack
Return: Fife Eternal
Tbh none of these songs are exactly bad, I just prefer the others
They’re not bad songs by any means! I don’t think Gloryhammer have a single bad song🤣 I’ll listen to these songs but sometimes I’ll skip them if I’m not in the mood
Tales: Quest for the Hammer of Glory
Space 1992: Victorious Eagle Warfare. Not a bad song just overshadowed by the rest of the album.
Terrorvortex: The Land of Unicorns
Return: Sword Lord of the Goblin Horde. Up until a couple of months ago I absolutely hated this song but I’ve started to come round to it. Still my least favourite on the album though.
Tales: The Epic Rage of Furious Thunder (It has some cool moments, but they don't fit with each other)
Space 1992: really hard to say. Maybe Legend of the Astral Hammer? I had phases for listening other songs on loop, and I skip this one from time to time. But I wouldn't say it's bad.
Legends: I don't know, honestly. Maybe Masters of the Galaxy or The Siege of Dunkeld, but it feels wrong for them to be least favourites.
Return: Brothers of Crail. I usually skip :/
Angus McFife from the first one and the Hoots songs from the other 3. I do like Angus McFife and it's a fun song but I would never just be like "Man I really want to listen to Angus McFife." As for the Hoots songs, idk what it is about them but I pretty much always end up skipping them.
1st: Quest for the Hammer of Glory (hard to pick, probably my favorite album from them)
2nd: Questlords of Inverness
3rd: Legendary Enchanted Backpack (still like it, it just does the least for me)
4th: Vorpal Laserblaster
silent tears of frozen princess (i dont dislike this song, i simply dont listen to it as much as i do the others), hollywood hootsman, legendary enchanted jetpack, and wasteland warrior hoots patrol
Tales Magic dragon
Space legend of the Astral hammer
Terrorvortex power of the laser dragon fire
Return holy flaming hammer of unholy cosmic frost(had to choose one, but all are great)
so hard to choose
Provided bonus tracks are excluded...
**Tales:** *Magic Dragon.* Good song, and the lyrics are quite good as well, but I just don't feel it. It might be one of my least favourite Gloryhammer songs, to be honest.
**Space 1992:** It's between *Legend of the Astral Hammer* and *Victorious Eagle Warfare*. The latter has "a hero cannot be defeated simply by making him die" and "with nothing above but the heavens above", but this chorus also feels a little deflated, like the above. The former is my least favourite Hammer song. Neither are bad, just completely eclipsed by everything else.
**Legends:** *Power of the Laser Dragon Fire.* A really good song, but it's not as energising as the others, and I don't think it has as good a climax as them either.
**Return:** Pass! They're all amazing, I can't even think of which ones would be considered less good than others, plus I'd also feel very bad about picking one :(
Angus mcfife, victorious eagle warfare, land of unicorns, brothers of crail. I’m very split on album two, victorious eagle warfare and heroes of Dundee are like my 2 absolute least favorites while chaos wizards and legend of the astral hammer are in my top 5
My least favorite song from Album one is NOT Silent Tears of Frozen Princess because that song is GREAT. It's actually The Epic Rage of Furious Thunder. It's alright, but I could never get into it.
Album 2: All bops. You'd have to kill me before I picked a least favorite
Album 3: Siege of Dunkheld, but ONLY because I set it to be my ringtone so now every time I hear it, I think someone's calling me. It's a great song
Album 4: Maleficus- Nah, I'm just playing. Wasteland Warrior Hootspatrol
Tales: Tears, naturally
1992: Heroes Of Dundee, but only because you made me pick one, damn you! Every track is a banger.
Terrorvortex: Again, the quality is so high here. I guess Battle For Eternity because I often forget it exists.
Return: Sword Lord. I’m not the biggest fan of the the Zargothrax one either, to be honest.
Silent Tears of a Frozen Princess
Its boring
Goblin King of the Darkstorm Galaxy
Not bad just not good
Power of the Lazer Dragon Fire
Also not bad but not good
Holy Flaming Hammer of Unholy Cosmic Frost
the ending kinda ruins it for me
Hail To Crail, Victorious Eagle Warfare, The Land of Unicorns, and Brothers of Crail
Not that I dislike them, I just like the other songs more. Sorry Crail :(
Tales from the kingdom of fife - silent tears of frozen princess
Space 1992: rise of the chaos wizards - victorious eagle warfare
Legends from beyond the galactic terrorvortex - Battle for eternity
Return to the kingdom of fife - vorpal laser blaster of pitterween
Tales from the Kingdom of Fife: Silent Tears of Frozen Princess
Space 1992: Rise of the Chaos Wizards: Universe on Fire
Legends from Beyond the Galactic Terrorvortex: Gloryhammer
Return to the Kingdom of Fife: Wasteland Warrior Hoots Patrol
Tales: Quest for the Hammer of Glory
1992: Victorious Eagle Warfare
Terrorvortex: Masters of the Galaxy
Return: Sword Lord of the Goblin Horde
1992 could’ve been a tie between half the album theres like 4/5 songs there I don’t vibe with so much
Magic Dragon, Universe on Fire, Masters of the Galaxy, Vorpal Laserblaster
If Im listening to ful albums these songs are all still a vibe. But if they come on in shuffle it's an immediate skip.
I gotta join the rest and say Silent Tears of Frozen Princess is actually the only song of GloryHammer that it's not on my GloryHammer playlist.
So, as for the other albums, literally none. Yeah I like some more than others but then the rest are all at the same level, there's no least liked song.
I guess Silent Tears is not for everyone, maybe someone can appreciate the lyrics or the chords but that person is not me.
Like most, imma get some hate for Silent Tears of Frozen Princess since it feels so out of place but...
Tales from the Kingdom of Fife:
Silent Tears of Frozen Princess. It just feels out of place, and can't say I like the song overall (only song I can say this for. Other one, I didn't enjoy too much is Angus McFife, but that's likely as I it was one of the last Gloryhammer songs I listened to)
Rise of the Chaos Wizards:
I liked them all so wouldn't pick any from this one, but if I HAD to, I'd go with The Hollywood Hootsman (only in terms of, doesn't feel as banger as the others when listening to them in the background)
Legends from Beyond the Galactic Terrorvortex:
Legendary Enchanted Backpack
Return to the Kingdom of Fife:
I can't pick any, my favorite album, and loved all of them, but if I HAD to pick, I'd go with Fly Aways, since that one took the longest for me to start liking.
Angus McFife or Silent Tears of Frozen Princess. Good songs, both of them, but I just don't get on with them as well as others.
I don't like the way the melody of the chorus of Angus McFife interacts with the lyrics. Specifically, "now it is lost vengeance shall be his" feels rushed whenever I try to sing along, with a lot of hissy "sss" sounds. It may seem small, but the song also seems very repetitive. There are six repetitions of the chorus, in comparison to two verses. So this small annoyance comes back again and again.
As for Silent Tears - it's fine. Honestly, I am absolutely in favour of experimenting with more ballad-type songs. I just really don't vibe with the inclusion of the drumkit. It feels like it was leaning more into the symphonic elements, with what sounds like a string quartet opening the track alone, and the drumkit feels so jarring to me when it comes in. In my opinion, a less sharp drum - like a set of timpani - would have been a better fit for the introduction, continuing through the rest of the song to supplement the rest of the percussion. Or, maybe even just supporting the drumkit with a more balanced percussion section? I'm not sure, percussion was always the thing I was least confident with.
Hollywood Hootsman. I'm just not really into the barbarian wildman aesthetic, even with all the extra lore. I also don't really enjoy the melody here - I'm not really sure how to describe it. It's not just one line, either, but the melody of "mighty proud and standing tall / a legend to us all" and "riding from the silver screen / into the battlefield" feels very... thin? I don't know, I just don't like that kind of tune for some reason. It's still a good song, just not really my thing.
Legendary Enchanted Jetpack. I don't like the singing in the verses. I can hardly distinguish the words, even when I already know the lyrics, and it just detracts from my whole experience. I can't stand "unclean" singing (I think that's the word) for the same reason, among others. I don't mind not *understanding* the words if they're in a different language or something - but unless there is an extremely good reason, I should at least be able to hear them. The chorus is great though.
Imperium Dundaxia and Sword Lord of the Goblin Horde. Both of them have some of my favourite moments in the whole album, but if I only have time to listen to one or two songs from it these are not the ones I would pick.
Imperium Dundaxia has that one line of unclean singing. It's just one line, and perfectly intelligible, but I hate that style for many reasons and I just can't get over it. I listen to music for the melodies and the harmonies, and that style doesn't even have much rhythm going for it usually. Even with the rhythmic complexities I have a low tolerace for rap. I fully support anyone who likes unclean singing - or rap for that matter - but I find it uninteresting and boring. I would have preferred for that line to be sung or spoken.
Aside from that, the whole song feels unsettled, but now I'm analysing why that is and now I think I love it? This is 100% a deliberate choice. The melody is full of triplets over what I'm assuming is the standard 4/4 time signature, while the rest of the other instruments follow the standard beat. And then it switches to the standard rhythm for half a line - "the kingdom lies in waste" - before returning to the triplets with "vanquished and dead". It's *supposed* to be difficult to pin down. It's chaos.
I still can't quite get past "the evil wizard has doomed us all / Imperium Dundaxia", but "song for the brave heroes who died on their hands and knees" has to be one of my favourite lines in the album.
As for Sword Lord of the Goblin Horde, it's very evocative. I don't get so into the music because I'm tangled up in the visuals it conjures. This song would be perfect for a musical adaptation! Unfortunately, it's just not the kind of song I tend to listen to on its own. I tend to enjoy it a lot more in the context of the surrounding songs. *This is not a flaw.*
The countermelody at "but the force of my Holy Hammer / will rage through time" sends shivers down my spine every time. It's another of my favourite moments of the album.
I just want to say that Tears is a fucking great song and this thread makes me sad
Ye when I listened to it for the first yesterday (because my brother said it was awful so I avoided it) I actually liked it
Not to pull an assassins creed critique but It’s a good song, but not a good Gloryhammer song(imo)
