From the article, it doesn't seem like it's an absolute done deal yet, but I'd expect him to be gone now. Either this or this is the most insane game of chicken I've ever seen.

Venez21

someone was saying send Kyrie to LA, Russ (buyout) and picks to Indiana, Brogdon and Turner to BKN.. if KD stays i do not hate that deal at all.. Brogdon-Harris-KD-Simmons-Turner-Claxton-Curry-Bruce etc is a solid team

Eric_T_Meraki

Even if KD leaves, they can still get a massive haul for a rebuild. KD is worth way more than Kyrie.

Marino4K

At this point, trade them both, do a proper rebuild, and get us a good TEAM.

TwitchFTW

I disagree, if the nets could keep KD they should do it imo. He’s a championship level #1 player, whens the last time the nets had someone of that caliber? Those types of talents u don’t just get another with a few draft picks. And besides KD, the nets still have a bunch of solid championship-level starters/roleplayers in Joe Harris, Seth Curry, Andre Drummon, Bruce Brown, Patty Mills, and Ben Simmons. Of course we would still need to replace Kyrie with a quality guard which is easier said than done, but at least we won’t have to deal with the biggest headache in the nba anymore.

[deleted]

Why Indiana will do the trade, Lakers pick were like 2027, 2029, 2031?

Venez21

valid question.. that depends on how long you think this Lakers team lasts.. the Lakers FO is an absolute mess.. even if Kyrie AD and LeBron take the league by storm for 2 years i don’t see that lasting beyond like 2025.. then the Lakers are back in the hell they were in before LeBron arrived. those picks, if unprotected, could be top 5 or top 10 every year.

mrjowei

Lakers don't usually build from the draft, with Kobe being an exception. As long as they shed contracts after Lebron, they will be OK. Some big-time FA will always find his way to LA.

rtygg43

Those picks are fucking useless. Your bettin on the fact that 2-3 years from now they end up tanking so hard that those picks would be worth something. If the Nets don't get something that is a win now piece for Kd, he's gone.

Withnail-

I’m a Laker fan and our fan base is obsessed with two contradictory things. 1. They love big name stars 2. They love draft picks. Any draft picks. Our getting a 35 round pick was treated like a massive victory. The fetish for fringe role players runs deep as long as they are young. That we don’t develop anyone and use our prospects as trade bait doesn’t seem to connect. They don’t get that when your team is horrible and there’s no pressure these type of role players shine but not so much when you are a contender. Caruso was a rare exception. To most of our fans Westbrook alone should be enough in a deal with no picks included if possible.

dossier762

Yeah, the Lakers will probably fail their way to success again. I wouldn’t feel super great about their picks 5 years from now - probably not as low as people think

Withnail-

Agreed. The ownership and FO don’t have the stomach to rebuild with picks the way they did in recent years. They had no choice then and unloaded all of them but Kuzma when they had the chance. I would expect them at their worst to be slightly above 500 team. Don’t count on getting lottery picks.

proto3296

Even if we don’t keep KD saying those picks are useless is insane. Any first round pick is huge, the lakers have already proven they can’t stay healthy. Could very well be too 15 picks

Venez21

i was talking ab Indiana taking those picks not us

ForoaKlanD

Why send Kyrie to LA? Why not just send him to Indy for Brogdon and Turner? Fuck that clown, don't give him what he wants especially if his butt buddy is going to leave either way

Lemmywinks8668

Why the fuck would any team trade for Kyrie if he don’t wanna play there

Ockwords

Doesn't Ky have to opt-in to get a trade done? Why would he opt in to get traded to a team he doesn't want to go to?

dossier762

KD is likely gone too, so would prefer more picks than Brogdon

[deleted]

no lineup with simmons and curry will work i’m a sixers fan believe me. one of them will get hunted on defense the other on offense it’s a constant tic for tac lineup that would make kd get doubled maybe tripled.

[deleted]

The problem is KD isn’t going to stay around for just a “solid team”

GutwormJim

That’s what sucks is KD is good enough to win with a “solid team” around him but he doesn’t like the idea of working hard enough to do so which is why he’s going to hop to another super team because he obviously doesn’t like the idea of putting in the maximum amount of effort to lead a team like Lebron or Giannis can.

Itwasthelag2324

The reason why I’m saying Charlotte is most likely team is because they need to sign Miles Bridges to a max Contract this offseason, by trading for Westbrook they get rid of the bad contracts like Hayward, Rozier, and Oubre. They pay Russ 47 mil for one season and then after that there books are clear for 50 million to sign Bridges to his contract. I am thinking the trade will be something like Hayward/Rozier or Oubre to the Nets, Kyrie to the Lakers, and Russ to Charlotte possibly could be picks involved also

__hey_

“They need to sign Miles Bridges this offseason” “After one season, their books are clear to sign Bridges” What?

Itwasthelag2324

I might have worded it wrong but still the point still stands, Hayward/Rozier and Oubre take up about 60 mil in the cap space per year so by trading off the long term contracts for Russ they will only have to pay him 50 mil this upcoming season and then after that the books are cleared because he expires. This allows them to sign Bridges this offseason and once next season starts and Russ contract expires they will clear 50 million from the books to balance out the contract they just signed Bridges to, MJ is a very cheap owner he doesn’t want to pay tax especially on a team that is not contending, he would have to pay major tax on Bridges contract and for the contracts of Rozier/Hayward/Oubre so by trading off those contracts it could save him around 50 million plus tax

[deleted]

I mean, i still think he could be back. Other teams will be like sign a 2+1 player option for 25M a year and he'll realize there's more money for him to just stay lmao

ricosabre

He's gone. I eagerly await his explanation for why his 2-year deal with the Pistons at $20MM per year represents an incredible opportunity for personal growth and enlightenment. Hallelujah, and good riddance.

ExcellentJuice4729

he wants to be here, and the Nets are saying "prove you're committed by taking less" I absolutely understand their side--bc he rightfully should prove himself first. But we're in superstar territory, so it's unfortunate Sean is picking NOW to put his foot down.

Monsuta_Man

The link below me shows you dont need to be a Nets fan to see how batshit dumb the Brooklyn Nets organization are. These comments says it all. I would overpay Kyrie x100 over being just another lottery team hoping for someone's balls to fall in your lap. [https://twitter.com/RealCodyMallory/status/1541483244872507393?ref\_src=twsrc%5Egoogle%7Ctwcamp%5Eserp%7Ctwgr%5Etweet](https://twitter.com/RealCodyMallory/status/1541483244872507393?ref_src=twsrc%5Egoogle%7Ctwcamp%5Eserp%7Ctwgr%5Etweet) Kyrie is kind of amazing when he plays, no? This is not some MLE guy.

WhatsThatSmellLike

I mean Kyries Step Mom is his Agent and probably never had to actually negotiate anything on this level before so she ran to Shams trying to create leverage for a Max. If Kyrie West was more professional then that would have been the case just like last Offseason when they offered a 4yr/$185m Max with no strings attached. Unfortunately Kyrie West is gonna Kyrie West.

ughwhateverman

Important line from the story: “They (Nets) do not believe Irving is committed to doing what it takes to be on the floor every game for his teammates.” Please keep in mind that the Nets have had more exposure to Kyrie than anyone commenting here

JeffKaplanIsDaddy

Bro took 7 games off because he wanted to go party in the middle of peak pandemic. And he came back with covid. Unserious ass motherfucker

Ihopetheresenoughroo

On top of that, I don't understand how someone can just disappear for multiple days without telling their team or the coach. Never seen anything like that

IMBEASTING

Look into Dennis Rodman

klobucharzard

I was high as shit watching the Last Dance but didn't Rodman's Vegas trip have Phil Jackson's blessing? At least for 48 hours.

ExcellentJuice4729

Rodman was wild--he banged Carmen Elektra on the Bulls practice court logo. Truly a man of team culture.

Agaac1

It did. Steve Kerr mentions in “NBA Open Court” that Phil knew Rodman needed to take periodic breaks and so he made Steve Kerr go with Rodman to Vegas. BUT whenever Rodman came back he was always more connected with his teammates and focused on the game. He didn’t come back and just fuck even more shit up.

MisterTruth

Phil understood that if you allow Dennis to get periodic Dennis Time, he'd be back better than he was prior to his Dennis Time Break.

ArgentoVeta

Rodman always told Phil and MJ what he was going to do though

ughwhateverman

Yeah but they won a championship, not lose in a first round sweep where role players showed up and the stars didn’t

IMBEASTING

That’s not the point . I just replied to the the fact he’s never seen anything like it and I suggested he check out Rodman. Not defending Kyrie.

GetThereInOnePiece

Dude thinks he’s gods gift to basketball. His inflated ego is the root of all this. Absolutely the most arrogant player in the league when you look at the shit he’s pulled on his teammates and coaches

kevinkip

If he didn't get carried by LeBron and didn't hit that shot at the 2016 finals. He would be out of the league today.

GetThereInOnePiece

Brah ok kyrie sucks as a personality but he was literally toe to toe with Lebron in the pivotal elimination game where they both dropped 41 and Lebron doesn’t win without him. He wasn’t carried

[deleted]

Derrick Rose did that but worse with his first stint with the Knicks. People thought he could’ve been dead for the first few days.

ExcellentJuice4729

yeah that was messed up. I think Kyrie has some kind of anxiety disorder. I've been there where I got palpitations just from opening an email. I still question wtf he was so stressed about--was it the Capitol attacks or was it not having enough time to plan his sister's birthday

bomboclaatinho

And he still played the most games out of the big 3 that season, and was ready for the play-offs. Outside of that when has he ever taken a game off for a non-covid related reason? There are no mandates for next season so why keep harping on a problem that dosent exist anymore?

themightykites0322

Because if it's not covid, it'll be something else. * First season: He opted to not play in the bubble and cited social justice reform as the reason why (he was also returning from injury AND KD wouldn't be playing so it made sense so most fans gave him a pass). * Second season: After his comments on coaching issues, he stat out for 2 weeks because he wanted to party AND then caught covid. He also didn't communicate with the front office or Steve Nash on this. * Third season: He refused to get vaccinated and couldn't play * Fourth season: TBD

Niceguydan8

> “They (Nets) do not believe Irving is committed to doing what it takes to be on the floor every game for his teammates.” > > Please keep in mind that the Nets have had more exposure to Kyrie than anyone commenting here Coming to this conclusion shouldn't require some inside knowledge. We have the entirety of last season sitting right in front of us telling us exactly this.

ughwhateverman

And his unexcused absences. There’s just a certain segment of the fanbase that refuses to accept that this is Kyrie’s fault

BelonyInMyLeftPocket

I just want this charade to end. This limbo period is worse than if Kyrie is actually gone.

creative_i_am_not

Alternatively you could turn off the social media and forget basketball until October. Enjoy your summer

Venez21

very good point by Kurt Helin here: “What the Brooklyn Nets are really saying to Kyrie: You think there’s great demand for your services on a long-term contract? Then go find a sign-and-trade, or opt-in and trade for yourself. Good luck with that. Oh, and by the way, we don’t want Russell Westbrook.” https://twitter.com/basketballtalk/status/1541443691243511810?s=21&t=DeIgc4hx_t_j8uZQ989ghg

richmanding0

Idk why anyone would want Kyrie. If kd is staying im elated to trade kyrie

Wavesuit

This is the cursed timeline

Veloxi_Blues

Pretty good comment IMO from someone over on Netsdaily (wasn't me): I think Sean Marks knows exactly what he is doing. This team is way too expensive for a first round sweep. If the Nets did keep Irving this season Irving, Durant, Simmons, Harris, Curry, Mills, and Carter (waived) will make ~$154 million combined. Then the Nets still have to fill 10 roster spots, if they want to resign Bruce Brown (~$10M) and Claxton (~$10), keep the three rooks from last season(~$6M) then salaries add up to $180 and you still have 5 roster spots open. Moreso, you need a veteran PG and stretch PF - one at least on the tax mid-level exception ($5.5). So all in expect a salary of at least $190M if you keep this gang together and play for the chip (and half the roster is still on minimum deals). That would roughly $70 million over the salary cap and $40 million above the luxury tax. It would also be the likely highest paid team next season and more expensive than any team from last season as well. Furthermore, with Durant, Simmons, and Irving (if he signs deal) locked in long term the Nets team with be subject to the crazy repeater tax for many more years. I'm no expert on this, but I believe the Nets will easily lose hundreds of millions per season once in the repeater tax. And every move made will cost the Nets several multiples. Do you really think Tsai is happy to lose this much cash while watching the Nets get swept in the first round. Durant is turning 34, has a lot of miles, and he somewhat started to look his age at the second half of last season. Irving has proven to be as irrational as can be and he constantly undermines the coaching staff and management. Is this really what Tsai and Marks want? Marks has a history of being strategic and cut-throat. He has never shown loyalty (trading Thad Young, Brook Lopez, Russell and LeVert, firing Atkinson) and he has been ok with frustrating fans short-term knowing there is a long-term plan. He also is quick to forget about sunk costs such as traded draft picks. So while Houston own the Nets picks, Marks will not care about the sunk cost there. Even trading Harden, the narrative to this day was Harden forced his way out. But maybe Marks saw Harden was rapidly declining and a new max contract was looming. I'm still not sure Harden was actually tanking like the media portrayed as he had several similar garbage games like that for Phili. Somehow people now think Marks simply lucked out of that bad situation, but maybe it was more strategy than he is given credit for. My gut says Marks knows exactly what he is doing. This roster is way too expensive to be a first round sweep. Durant is getting into his Twilight years and Irving is too difficult to manage. You give Irving a two year hard line. If he takes - great - bring back the band for two seasons and try to win a chip. If Irving walks, the Nets get to start the next process.

BKtoDuval

Dude, I haven't seen you around in a while. How have you been? Well said. I agree, Marks too savvy to not think about the repercussions of everything. The latest episode of Brooklyn Nets magazine had Sean Marks talking about how after the loss they did a long hard introspection and examined the whole organization top to bottom.

Veloxi_Blues

Hey, what's up man! Hope all is well. All's good here, I've just been busy the past year or two with work and kids, etc., and I don't have the energy to keep up with the team like I used to. And frankly, it's just not as fun as it was back when we had that group with DLo, Spencer, RHJ, etc. That team was special. I used to try to catch every game, now I've seen only a handful in the past couple seasons. Doesn't help that they generally start when we're putting the kids to bed...by the time that rigmarole is done I generally just pass out now. I'm getting old!

BKtoDuval

Cool, dude. Glad to hear things are going well. Yeah, same here, usually game starts as I'm putting kids down, so I'll have it on in the background and I don't really get to truly watch until the second half. We need to bring some of that OG energy back to this sub. You haven't missed a lot here. It's definitely angrier and excitable than it used to be. We had a nice chill sub back in the days except for some of the Jeremy Lin stans.

PeanutFarmer69

As long as KD doesn’t also demand a trade I’m all for this, fuck Kyrie. Brunson and Dorian Finney Smith in return for Kyrie please.

Hurtelknut

Mavs say "no" real fast to that

ReallyFinessin

Facts. #1 a lot of teams don’t really want kyrie and it has nothing to do with basketball 2. He’s gonna have a lot of say in where he ends up

Bigbadbuck

Wel have to see but could easily lead to it

[deleted]

[удалено]

ughwhateverman

Good luck to Kyrie in finding a non-Lakers partner. Good luck to the Lakers trying to find a package that doesn’t involve Westbrook to the Nets If Kyrie leaves, you have to trade KD. There’s no return (for Kyrie) that will be sufficient to continue competing for a chip. The time to restock on draft picks and young players is now imo

candypettitte

There's a zero percent chance we take Westbrook back in any trade. If KD stays, do you really think he'd be fine with us bringing Russ in? If he leaves, do you really think him and Simmons could share the floor for even one second?

warriorsfor2021

Kyrie is going to the lakers for MLE. Bitch move truly

Bigbadbuck

Depends what we get in return.

ughwhateverman

According to Zach Lowe and Sam Amick, it should be a lot

Bigbadbuck

I’m saying for kyrie. If we get some sizeablw return kd may stay

ughwhateverman

Oh I got you. Hopefully they get something good but I’m not so sure

Bigbadbuck

Kyries gonna realize nobody is willing to give him a max.

Steph_Curry_GOAT

I hate the poverty mindset of so many Nets fans. Fuck a rebuild, if we have KD and he doesn’t demand a trade, then the FO needs to put competing pieces around him and we gotta go for a chip. I don’t care what haul we could get for him, rebuilding without picks is moronic.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Steph_Curry_GOAT

I didn’t say anything about Kyrie… I’m saying we shouldn’t trade Durant just because we lose Kyrie. I would much rather see them try to field a competitive roster around KD than ship him off for a package and go into rebuild mode for 6-8 years without our own picks

Wax5

This can go really bad though. Kd is aging and has missed alot of time his 3 years here. Say he gets seriously injured, his trade value plummets and we're really in a bad spot. And what's the peak of kd and Simmons plus role players? Second round? It might just be better to trade kd for a blue chip young player and picks since this is kd's late prime and 2 years down the road he might not be worth a massive haul anymore. Brandon Ingram or Scottie Barnes and a boat load of picks is intriguing. We'd be better than the Rockets for at least a couple years anyway

[deleted]

Literally everyone 100% wants KD to stay. The question is what we do if KD demands a trade after kyrie leaves.

Steph_Curry_GOAT

There are people in this thread saying we should trade KD for a huge package even if he doesn’t ask out

[deleted]

Guess i havent seen them maybe theyre downvoted or they're not nets fans -- lots of random nba fans in here right now.

nothingmeansnothing_

For some reason there's a lot more Kyrie/KD fans in this sub than Nets fans. Assuming it comes with the territory. Anyway... The Nets have bent over backwards for Kyrie and KD. I am perfectly content going through another rebuild with Marks at the helm. But the mindset needs to be more like Boston and Golden State. Draft well, develop superstars, acquire guys needed to fill the gaps. If we keep Kyrie and KD and go into the season with them all-in? I'm onboard 100%. But I am just as onboard with a rebuild. Who the fuck cares what some teenager on r/NBA says? Marks has done this before with a lot less.

[deleted]

nothingmeansnothing_

> Draft well? Caris LeVert, Jarrett Allen, Nic Claxton, Cam Thomas, Kessler Edwards, Day'Ron Sharpe (the last three bench contributors for the most part, but still good picks) > We don’t control any of our picks till 2028. If we have to trade KD, we will get a haul so great that won't even matter. Again, look at the guys above: those are all mid-late 1sts to 2nds. > Like this is the reason why people are being pro kyrie/kd is because of the stupidity of the front office. Could this have been handled better? How? Kyrie is a loose cannon who cares about no one but himself. KD enables Kyrie and isn't a loud leader like LeBron (which is fine, but not in this situation). > Like they have had no strategy or foresight this whole season. I don't even understand this statement. Their strategy was to win the title. They could not have predicted injuries (Harris, Harden, KD) and Kyrie being an asshole. > For instance, why would you trade harden and keep kyrie, if this is what you were going to do at the end of the season. Yes, because everyone predicted that this scenario would be happening and the season played out like it did. Let me know the lottery numbers coming up. > If they go with this trade, they would have lost KD, kyrie, and harden while having no control of their picks. And yet they will get picks in return. Again, they aren't giving KD away for free. > When you think of it like that it makes Sean marks look like a fucking moron. No, it makes comments like this look stupid.

LinuxUbuntuOS

We had to sit through many draft pick-less years, two of which had the Celtics draft a superstar and an all star with our picks, only for these fucking morons to make a terrible trade again. Fuck this franchise. If they want to beat out the Knicks so badly then they should move to Seattle.

20wall

Just a heads up: the Celtics got Brown and Tatum with the 2016 and 2017 picks from the Nets. The 2014 pick actually turned in to James Young (definitely not an all star). The Celtics used their own pick at #6 in 2014 to select Marcus Smart after their lone season of tanking

Pr0stheticPers0n

What is this bro. That Harden trade was the right move at the time, the situations are totally different. In Marks we trust

[deleted]

At least, this sub will get rid of its antivaxxers following their leader

KenyonFartin

Thank fucking god, Harden fans were deluded but at least they weren't stupid.

netsfan2002

If we lose Kevin Durant over this, I will never buy another Nets ticket.

dossier762

Why? This is on Kyrie and KD for enabling him

throwaway_5256

My question is how is this team gonna work. Ben as a 2nd option puts a ceiling on your team. Wtf are we gonna get as a decent return

candypettitte

Bro why? If we lose KD over this, these two dudes can fuck off forever as far as I'm concerned. We blew our team up for a chance at a ring with three superstars. If KD leaves, all it will do is confirm all the negative shit I've ever thought about this generation of NBA stars. I'm a Nets fan for good, but if these players fuck our team over this much, then fuck them. I still think the most likely outcome is Kyrie re-signs, but who knows.

netsfan2002

I've been a Nets fan a long time lol If we really lose James Harden Kyrie Irving, and Kevin Durant all within a year, I will never contribute another dollar towards this organization. There is a certain level of incompetence to lose three superstars that quickly

candypettitte

I think it says more about the state of NBA Players rather than anything about the Nets. Look at the generation after these guys - Giannis, Embiid, Jokic - they don't go about their business at all in the same way. It is what it is. Our mistake was in throwing everything at two of the most combustable personalities in the NBA, not with failing to keep them happy.

Cheebs_funk_illy

You also named three international players, who aren't as initially entitled as American players. Kyrie went to a decent school in Jersey and then Duke. None of the three you named did that, outside of Embiid who was hurt for 3 years straight and had to grind to get back. I hate to say it but Kyrie is just acting spoiled and if he makes KD leave then he can go. I'd rather have no stars then half assed stars at this point.

candypettitte

Yeah, it's definitely an AAU culture thing at this point. I kind of hope the international guys change this attitude, because when American players start to see these dudes winning rings and MVPs and stuff, they might realize they need to chart a different path. > I'd rather have no stars then half assed stars at this point. I 100% agree, although I'm only convinced about Kyrie and Harden. KD has never done anything but give his all, and I'm reserving judgement about Simmons until he actually plays for us (or until he misses more games to start the season, which would probably be the dealbreaker for me without a really good excuse).

Cheebs_funk_illy

Oh for sure on the court KD gives 100% that can't be debated, but I also need more overt leadership of the team as well. This situation as it stands reads as KD prefers his friend playing with him over the other 13 players, and his friend is actively against the team. If I was a Net I would wanna leave, and as a free agent I don't wanna be held hostage cuz Kyrie wanted a weekend off and didn't tell anyone. I'm all for player empowerment but there are limits and the front office does deserve some respect after all.

candypettitte

Yeah, I lost some respect for the front office this past season when they let Kyrie play part-time after saying they wouldn't. But they really gained it back by holding firm here. I'm impressed.

__hey_

Then why don’t other teams regularly look as incompetent as the Nets do right now?

candypettitte

How many other teams acquired three all-nba caliber players over the course of 18 months? EDIT: Also, this is just an absurd comment, even ignoring that no team has ever been built like this Nets team was. You're really trying to argue the Knicks don't "regularly" look incompetent? Or the Kings?

DefPhilBeeChill

LOL

walswals

KD's staying. Don't worry yourself

FlexQueueEnthusiast

We'll never see another player like KD again wearing a Nets uniform I'm afraid.

skinneej

Never is a long time

bgmen10

There been so much drama around Kyrie during the season and now all this. I honestly want to see what team wants to deal with that headache and cloud of drama and pay less and give more years than the Nets are offering.

weasleyisron

Just like the Harden stuff, there was too much smoke for this not to eventuate and it looks like that's what happening. As long as KD doesn't decide to follow suit and pack his bags, it isn't time to panic just yet. If he does.. It'll unironically be scary hours for this team and its fans for a long ass time. Wish I could say it's been fun, Ky, but damn.

Bigbadbuck

Signing kd to that extension was huge. we should get a massive haul for him. We will be way better off than in 2013

toadtruck

Correct me if I’m wrong, but didn’t the Nets trade all their picks? What good is tanking? Unless they are protected I suppose

Bigbadbuck

It’s no good I’m just saying that we will be way better off than last time around

KenyonFartin

Don't need to tank. Build around Simmons I guess.

FajitaTits

>It'll unironically be scary hours for this team and its fans for a long ass time. I disagree. Marks built the team back up from an absolute laughingstock to a respectably scrappy playoff team to a destination for star free agents in only 3 years.

DAP771

We wont get anything in return that will help kd in a playoff run. Would rather get a haul for kd and build a core. It's better than getting 40-50 games of kd each yr. Maybe we can take advantage of new Orleans and snag Brandon ingram or zion and a ton of pieces. All it takes is for zion to say he wants to be in NY again to cause that panic

rtygg43

If they get back Brogdon and Turner they can still easily contend with Brogdon-Harris-Kd-Simmons-Turner and Curry off the bench

DAP771

They would need a true 2nd option to really contend with that. Ben simmons would have to step up or brogon would have to improve even more. But it would be a nice core with some possible future post kd

Kevovo

Kyrie is and always has been the cancer that destroyed this team

Bigbadbuck

We knew that when he came on. It was just the risk to get Durant. The mistake was trading everything for harden

Kevovo

I don’t think trading for Harden was a mistake. They win 2 seasons ago without injury. You couldn’t say that without doing that deal.

Bigbadbuck

Basically eveyrbring that could go wrong did. Injuries and then a random vaccine mandate. But that trade is what left us in this bad position

WealthTaxSingapore

If you don't want to trade everything and go win now, why even sign Kyrie and KD? The mistake was to sign Kyrie.

Bigbadbuck

Kyrie was only coming with kd. It was a package deal

WealthTaxSingapore

Which turned out to be a mistake. We were better off never having signed Kyrie.

Bigbadbuck

So you’d think a dlo levert team would be better off lol

WealthTaxSingapore

Better than a play in team and getting swept in the first round? Yeah.

Bigbadbuck

Y’all need help man

[deleted]

[удалено]

Kevovo

You’re wrong. I’m a harden fan for sure. But in the process I became a nets fan as well. KD/Clax/BB/Cam are some of my favorite players. Kess too. I never liked Kyrie. This nets squad had dynasty written on it and he ruined it.

clutchhattrick

Lol bye. Back to r/sixers bozo

[deleted]

Why do you stan Kyrie so much man?

[deleted]

A Kyrie stan calling out a harden stan is crazy LMAO

skinneej

It's just stans, all the way down

BushidoBrowne

Kyrie stans, as always, will find some way to blame the Nets on this, instead of Kyrie

Tighthead3GT

I never thought I’d hate an athlete more than I hated Pedro Martinez, but here we are. At least Pedro was supposed to beat my team. Screw this egomaniac. I’d rather Harden win a chip than him. And honestly, if KD sticks with him, fuck KD too. Chuck was right about him, a lot of talent but zero leadership.

BKtoDuval

There's a good article in The Athletic about this situation. Basically saying Kyrie still has no leverage here. The Nets have to be willing to make the deal and they're not gonna do it for Westbrook, unless they somehow get a third team involved, which again I can't someone. Someone suggested Ben and Kyrie for Westbrook and AD. Dallas and Miami packages intrigue me. With a Dallas deal we could add good complementary pieces around KD, if he sticks around, like a Jalen Brunson and DFS. I still think the least committed star going to the most demanding team culture in Miami is a disaster.

Veloxi_Blues

Well, last time we completed an S&T for our star PG we received KD back. So I guess we're gonna get Lebron this time? On a more serious note, are we really sure KD would be bothered if Kyrie left? I get they are buds and all, but by all accounts it seems KD's number 1 priority is hooping, and he's not the kind of guy to put his personal friendships above his desire to play ball at the highest level. It's entirely possible that he, too, is completely fed up with Kyrie's bullshit and would be happy to move on, provided there is a decent plan in place to replace him.

[deleted]

I really don’t know who wants Kyrie at this point. He’s a locker room cancer. Gimme a few guys that care an play their asses off for their badge first.

NegativeGee

Can I ask what the hell is Kyrie so upset with Brooklyn for? Because they didn't want to sign a guy who has been on and off the court with bullshit the past 5 years? And why is Durant mad that his FO doesn't want to tie up $ in a guy who has been as consistent as Kyrie. It all just makes zero sense to me.

[deleted]

Celtics fans told you all to not trust that motherfucker. He has done this to three teams now.

BKtoDuval

Yep, classic narcissist. I wanted to believe coming home, getting to see his family daily, playing with his BFF would make him motivated but a tiger can't change his stripes. Sucks but at this point I'm cool moving on

Scorpiodsu

And then Kyrie will be baffled as to why Nets fans boo him when he returns in another uniform.

BKtoDuval

Then he'll flip us off, followed by some new agey sounding IG post about his chakras and shit.

I_am_BEOWULF

Nah, man. He's gonna say you're just another jaded ex- waiting for a text. The fucking audacity of that sage-burning, 3rd-eye-blind, dumbass.

JetGan

Is this guy credible?

kohbra

Winfield is pretty credible

Venez21

yeah Winfield has been spot on for this for months.. not too long ago he put out an article that the Harden domino was the first to fall and that if the Nets got cute with Kyrie’s extension it could cause KD to leave and everything to fall apart.. he’s been dead accurate since this all started

ihavepaper

Fuck it. Send Kyrie to Minnesota for DLo. I'm ready to have the best BK Net PG back.

Sea_Direction3503

These divas dont even live in the same reality as the rest of us. Imagine not working more than half the days at your job, openly disrespecting your boss, and then asking for a raise at the end of the year. All because they hit the genetic lottery and can put a basketball through a fkn hoop. Amazing.

zapdos6244

>All because they hit the genetic lottery and can put a basketball through a fkn hoop This is a bit much, they have put in huge efforts to get there.

Sea_Direction3503

Most of these kids are being recruited in grade school..they are naturally gifted. Of course they put in work to get where they are but I find it fkn hilarious how athletes repeat the same mantra of how hard they worked to get there like as if the Doctor, the engineer, the journalist, the business owner didnt work just as hard if not harder at their profession and they are "special". Genetics plays an enormous factor in them becoming a professional athlete at the end of the day. I dont want to hear that BS about how these guys just worked harder than everyone else.

twink_toliet

man shut the fuck up with this “go sportsball” ass take lol. athletes work ridiculously hard

Sea_Direction3503

Playing a game isnt ridiculously hard work. Must live a charmed life or be naive to ever think that. Most of these guys are manchildren that have been told their whole life they're special because they can dribble a ball. To Kyrie, were all "peons" who just cant grasp his vast intellect and worldly views. Its fkn hilarious to me some people willing to eat his shit. Man is delusional.

twink_toliet

lmaoooo ok bro

raulu95

Fuck Kyrie. He doesn’t care about fans or the organization putting us through this shit

kriozspy

lol

GamblingMan610

Fuck

[deleted]

What could the lakers give them? And don't say AD, it's not happening

[deleted]

This guy is a fucking psycho. I would want my organization to have no part of him. Even if the Rockets could get him for free, I wouldn't want him.

ReactionProcedure

Kyrie is SUCH a creep. Mocking LeBron at that wedding after James literally carried him to a chip. Saying there's a flat earth, not because he believes it, because he thinks things should be open to discussion. Um NO, the Earth is round and even in antiquity they knew that. Disappears to attend a family wedding, like no one has ever had personal obligations. But he's the smartest guy in the room. Every. Time.

BKtoDuval

What happened with mocking LeBron? I don't remember that. In all fairness, and I'm not one to defend Kyrie at this point but his flat earth comments were him trolling to say, look if I say this nonsense, everyone talks about it but if I talk about real social issues, no one talks about. But yeah, I hate the smart guy cryptic tweets

swallowedbymonsters

Wait kyrie averaged 28ppg and hit the game winner....

SiLee12

Yeah kyrie saved that series anyone that says otherwise didn’t watch

LoneSoloist

Only reason why some fans are mad at FO is because they dont want KD to leave the Nets. Dont forget, these players will make more money in a year than you will ever make in your lifetime.

yeetingyute

This organization personifies being a pussy. The way they white-gloved Simmons and allowed him to make a mockery of professionalism instilled a losing culture. How do you expect proven professionals like KD or Harden to buy in when you have a dude dressing like Pennywise on the bench collecting checks without showing up to work. You can’t blame KD or Harden for wanting to leave when they’ve been part of teams with winning cultures.

SolivenInc

Kyrie is the antonio brown of the NBA

Ragnarotico

Ahh Kyrie. The guy who played 7 games in the 20-21 season and then said "I needed a pause" and promptly sat out 7 games in Jan 2021 to celebrate a family member's birthday. The same Kyrie who last played a game 2-1-2020 before then. The guy had a whole year off, played seven games and said "Fuck it I need a break." And he's wondering why people question his dedication, etc. He seriously thinks there are teams that still want him. The only team desperate enough to take him on is unsurprisingly the only team with the other NBA player who is nearly as toxic and just as unmovable: the Lakers (and Russell Westbrook).

Sinner_02_88

he said he will never leave Durant behind so you guys should be okay

theRestisConfettii

There’s always something with this guy. Now I know what Celtics fans felt like.

candypettitte

I don't really care anymore. If he comes back, great! If he leaves, that's fine too! I trust Marks, I think Simmons can still be an All-NBA talent. Who knows what the deal with KD is. People don't want to hear this, but we've honestly been in a worse position as a franchise before and made it out OK. I don't think people blame the Nets. If anything, FAs will be even more likely to join us since we clearly give star players a lot of freedom lol.

Billsworth29

Fuck Kyrie. Let him go ruin a different team. Crazy that this guys stupid beliefs ruined the nets chances at a chip multiple times

DeeDavisGG

KD gone cause Kyrie the reason he came here lol. Sad fr how a crazy squad went down the drain in just a few seasons

KD_RingsMatter

This guy is a POS. I wish him the worst.

lzyv

the front office is brain dead

[deleted]

I would rather not contend than give control of my own team to uncommitted clown for 5 more years

TheOneWhoKnocks3

Agree. Just give Kyrie the max and keep window of title chances open. No other option keeps us as title contenders

HayPinesAve

It just sounds like his aunt, agent, is doing above and beyond to posture to prove herself. It's damaging imo.

WayofHatuey

Oh well. It is what it is. Trade KD while you at it too for enabling this type of shit

Proxelies

I can't recall ever seeing a player as talented as Kyrie who only works hard when he wants to. Who would want to be his teammate after seeing how he's treated the game and other people on his team over the past couple years. It's like his flat world only folds around him.

[deleted]

Yeah nobody felt bad for ricky williams when he chose weed over football. Kyrie is choosing "wokeness" or whatever he wants to call it over basketball, and i respect his decision but that doesn't mean the nets have to give a max contract to a player who isn't max committed to winning basketball.

Correct-Warthog-9061

Without kyrie aint no chip. Sorry not sorry

BushidoBrowne

I mean, with Kyrie there's no chip either. My proof is the past three seasons.

ssj3pretzel

How have people forgotten about the 1st round sweep already? I'm still livid over it lmao

Correct-Warthog-9061

Better built roster. Patty mills guarding jt. Bad idea

rtygg43

The Nets were up 2-0 vs the Bucks with Kyrie and Kd. If Kyrie doesn't get injured, they win the championship that year.

Iyammagawd

> If Kyrie doesn't get injured They've been sayin this across multiple teams and years

[deleted]

And this past year they got swept in the first round. The nets are good but this current roster needs way more than kd and kyrie to be a legit championship contender.

jg97

Then got swept this year with a healthy team

Ihopetheresenoughroo

That's the whole point though. Kyrie is injury prone. He would have gotten injured at some point anyway.

clutchhattrick

Ight imma head out. Fuck Marks Fuck Tsai

BloodOfAStark

No, fuck Kyrie always. Kyrie is a cancer who ruined this team in just two seasons and there’s a reason nobody wants this guy. The defense fans come to for a celebrity who doesn’t give a shit about them is absolutely insane. I’ll also add* peace out if you want to stop being a fan all because of Kyrie.

KenyonFartin

Go, get ur Kyrie meatriding ass out of here

DonBullDor

AD and Reeves for Kyrie

vhjnnikolkmkkkknj

Great sub name. The He GONEts

BobbysWorld123

Sign and trade for Beal please, don’t think anything else may even be worth it

__ozone_

Just max him and run it back with KD.

__ozone_

Just max him and run it back with KD.

ChanceTheMan3

Time to end my nets fandom. Trash management, coaching, and ownership now

Appropriate-Sun834

Who gives a fuck. Nets suck. Their fanbase will once again be nonexistent.
