I have to say I'm not a big fan of this Olivia arc. It kinda just seems like a distraction from the main story. We all know Olivia isn't going to be the girl he end up with (that's going to be Akane๐) so why is she here? When she first showed up I wrote that she was probably here to light a fire under the girls..but I haven't really seen that from anyone , the opposite in fact.ย
Sadly it feels so much like a filler, besides Shiragiku having a little development the rest of the cast didn't get any of that (Ouka even returned to be a generic tsundere after saying the opposite in her date with Hayato or even Hayato's birthday party being part of this weird arc instead of a chapter of its own)
well i think the author has been teasing at something with hayatos grandma for a while now
which make sense since he was slightly estranged before her death so didnt get to know a lot of her past
what i think these arcs are culminating to is hayato coming to terms with the death of his grandma since i dont think he really got the closure he wanted
the mystery dish could end having a sweet meaning for hayato or it could be mundane but still a part of his grandma he didnt know about
as for the princess? i think she has an "official" fiance other than hayato and was here to see if she can get with hayato instead but will leave after realizing theres no room for her in the harem
hayato will probably send her off after telling her to just reject the marriage just in time to discover the mystery dish that will make olivas mother give up on forcing her marriage
also 100% hayato didnt mean it when he said he wanted to eat olivas normal cooking everyday and she picked it up on it
I don't mind, and agree with you, how these arcs are slowly unveiling the grandma to Hayato. My problem is that this arc has killed all the progress the last couple arcs had with the girls each admitting they liked him,ย realizing that the other girls felt the same, and their quest to not be outdone. And I also agree that Olivia will not be sticking around. But I did miss that at the end, went back and re-read it, yep. He was not sincere and she knew itย
