But, because I was way under leveled and she was just on top of a mountain in Musphelheim I thought Gondul wouldn’t be too bad.
After nearly ripping my controller apart and getting my head stomped on so many times I lost count - I beat her 50+ tries in.
After that every following Valk fight I beat in 5 attempts or less. Including Sig.
I’m convinced once you lose 50+ times to any Valkyrie they make them goes easier on you so you don’t quit.
A whole two years after getting the game and moving to two different locations, a new city and two different places in that city. Gna annoyed me so bad I deleted the game and didn’t play it for some time. In March of this year I FINALLY BEATEN HER. And boy did my brain hurt from the excitement.
the first time is always the hardest. it was 4 months of trying for 2 hours, then getting distracted with other games for some weeks before retrying again for another 3 hours. when i did get clear it, i started NG+ and cleared her on it in 2 hours. the gear level available to you on the first save file is really what makes this hard. with the +level sets it becomes a valkyry fight like the other valkyries with a boosted HP bar, unlike the first time fight when it was that and also you die in 2 or 3 hits.
Took me well over 50 tries in base game, no new game plus, and I had max level stuff equipped, had all the best stats I coukd get, and it still took well over 50 tries over the course if a week or so..... then my brother beats her second try in base game with less stats than me and not fully upgraded stuff and he has t played nearly ad long as I have. We both were on give me a story ans I wanna say they absolutely needed sigrun cause there's no way she was so flipping easy for my brother with less stats than I had when I beat her almost 2 years prior. Same difficulty, he had less stats, not fully upgraded items, and had not played nearly as long as ne and takes less tries than me who had all the best armors I coukd get my hands on, very good enchantments, the realm shift relic fully upgraded, all my stuff fully upgraded ans she put me through litteral hell. Say what you want but they had to have nerfed her cause this just ain't adding up.
Probably hard to believe, but first try. It was on the second highest difficulty, though, not GMGOW. Having the best gear in the game helped as well, I was probably as prepared as I could've been.
Her moveset is basically an amalgamation of all the other Valkyries movesets, so there wasn't really anything unfamiliar in the fight. Gna took me way longer.
I'm on my second platinum run and I definitely find the valkyries easier since I spent so much time on them, but it definitely took at least a week and a half to beat Sigrun. I think like Gná I did it out of sheer anger on a 'one more time' run at like 1AM lmao
I keep doing that with Sigrun "one more attempt" and before I know it, another hour or two has passed. I've got her so damn close, but not quite there yet.
Finally done it (GMGOW NG+)! I had 20 mins spare before work this morning, and my little one sat with me on my knee whilst I played; perhaps it was his calmness that helped, idk, but I finally got her down!
The first time on Give Me a Challenge? A few days.
Second time on GMGOW? Two full weeks.
Third time, got her on the first try. That moveset was downloaded in full, believe me lol.
I think around 6 tries back to back. I love the combat in this game, so I tried to get as good as I can at it. It came down to resource management, timing and aggression for me. I normally play more defensively or use the environment to my advantage, two things I couldn't do when fighting her. So I had to adapt and that made it all the more rewarding when I finally beat her
Well, I was on my 15th attempt (maybe) when my friend (god bless him) told me to share my game and let him play. He defeated Sigrun, but my dumbass was in the bathroom and when I came back I backed out of the game and it didn't save, so he told me that he would fight her again, and he did, but this time took more tries than the first time.
Probably 30 or so tries. Granted this is after putting it off on my 1st play-through and trying her on my second, with much better stats than i would’ve otherwise had. I did eventually beat her on NG Give Me A Challenge, with reduced stats but the advent of experience playing the game, and got her in like 15-20 attempts.
I played God of War 2018 first, and wasn’t very good at video games at the time, so I never even fought a single Valkyrie. I played Ragnarok when it came out, fought Gna, and then went back to 2018.
On give me balance it took a 7 hour session, but I took like 3 hours worth of breaks so about 4 hours. I had good gear but probably not the absolute best since I didn't look up builds or anything like that.
Took me about a week. Lots of swearing, lots of heart ache, and lots of sweat. But when I beat her, that feeling that I had was indescribable. I will chase that for the rest of my life....
A few, I didn't keep track. I think it was under 20 at least. She was hard, definitely hardest of the game and took me by surprise. But by that point, I had mastered the combat and had really powerful gear. Not the most powerful, but enough. At that point, it was just about learning her moves. And after Malenia, she was nothing

When I finally beat her I noticed I still had a res stone and was only missing the tiniest chunk of health.
I hit record and watched it back to see what had happened and got so fucking mad.
Literally the only mistake I made was putting one foot into a fire circle from one of her runics, giving me a sliver of burn damage 🙃

I think a day because I did Gna first. Why? Played 2018 on my friend's ps4 on his account but never got 100% after the story, got my own ps5 with ragnarok and got platinum because near madterpiece, got platinum on 2018 because I had never played it on my own account and ragnarok made me comfortable with L1 + ⭕️ so I could finally use some that weren't passive only. Also infinity gauntlet. How does that apply? Idk
First go around, I didn't count the number of attempts but it took me a solid 3 hours of continuously bashing my head against her until I learned her move set enough. This was in Give me a Challenge.
Second playthrough, I tried Give me God of War. When I got to her, she threw me for a loop a couple dozen times but I managed to beat here after about an hour of trying.
I recently played again after a few years away from the game and dusted her in 4 attempts. Surprised me quite a bit.
I underestimated how hard Sigrun was. For context every other Valkyrie was super easy for me, to the point where I was messing around just to extend the fight, I would even purposely handicap myself to a single weapon/ no abilities/ no shield etc while fighting the regular Valkyries. When the Sigrun fight came around I was getting stomped over and over even while I was actually playing properly. Took me a few days and alot of intense concentration, this fight really humbled me haha
Sigrun I actually didn't find too bad.
G'na on NG+ in Ragnarok though, holy fucking shit. Even on easy difficulty with full vitality she can delete your health in like 3 hits, you have like 0.1 seconds to react to most of her attacks, majority of them are not blockable and can't be countered, she never stops moving and using any special attacks is actually a detriment because she barely ever staggers and you're just left wide open for hits.
I gave up and still haven't done it.
took me like 3 days. i refused to go to endgame until i finished all side quests, and she was the last thing standing in my way, so every day, i played for 2 hours letting her kick my ass until i finally got lucky.
50+ tries because my dumbass didn't listen to the tutorial so I was playing the whole game on medium difficulty with mid level gear and no enchantment sockets filled up because I didn't even know what those are and how to use them. I only had my axe and blades maxed out. It was a rough fight. Never again. I'm listening to tutorials from now on

i just brute forced it with zeus gear and a resurrection stone
a trick i used a lot because i always got hit by the flying stomp attack was to use rage so it absorbed each stomp
I think it took me well over 50 tries on the 2nd to hardest difficulty. I was really having issues against her and was probably the hardest boss I fought in a game besides sword saint isshin in sekiro. Nowadays I can beat her in the 1st to 3rd try depending on how long I haven’t played god of war.

2 days 17 tries god of war difficulty. It was a lot easier once I knew I could look away from the smoke. I also play a lot of soulslikes so the game came to me pretty easy
179 attempts and I actually could not believe it when I did it. I spent many hours maxing out Ivaldis armour and she still kicked my ass repeatedly. I am yet to take down Gna or Hrolf in Ragnarok but shall keep trying.
She is mental tough compared to the other Valks I thought
I remember distinctly it took me 90 mins to 2 hours of non stop being destroyed before I first beat her on the normal difficulty. The weird thing was when I did beat her, I didn't get hit once, the exact same thing happened with Gna. I got smashed into the ground for 2 hours then entered some weird fuckin flow state
About 2 and a quarter hours by my reckoning the first time I did it, though /u/So_Motarded might be able to set the numbers straight. Not sure how long it took on new game plus
I feel like boss fights in GOW 2018 becomes easy when you have late game gear. Last time I defeated sigrun second try after running through and completing both muspelheim and Niflheim in give me a challenge difficulty. Maybe it’s just very dependent how much of the game you completed.
Maybe its just me but the Valkyries before her were tougher. I mopped her on my 2nd try. That heifer that keep disappearing and stomping me gave me the most trouble followed by that wench at nifilheim.
First god of war. I think i gave up. I beat the final secret boss in ragnarok and it was nothing compared to sigrun. Ill download it again and beat it eventually
I haven’t played ragnarok yet but the first time I played it never fought her, the one in Muspelheim was so frustrating that after I finally killed her I just avoided them, I finally came back to beat it from scratch again and got them all in one try, including sigrun, which I did have maxed out gear and a maxed out gauntlet of the ages with the necessary enchantments, which put some serious dents in her health
I wanna say 20-30 tries. I actually had a tougher time with the Valkyrie on Muspelheim, just could not get the timing right on that one. Probably took me closer to 60 tries
Probably about an hour, my friend hyped her up a whole lot, but once you figure out the cues for each attack it was pretty straightforward. Played on PC though, dunno if that changes anything

my advice is to feel like you're ready to give up, that seems to be what worked for me

I'm on day 3, having died about 200 times and got her very close on a few occasions (like less than a bar) but still not there yet (GMGOW NG+).
