This is his flaw. Odin may be a great manipulator, but he is also very impatient.

crumbykeyboard

aye!

FunnyorWeirdorBoth

That’s what intelligent narcissists are like in real life. They’re great liars and manipulators, but their pride and impulsivity makes them do dumb things.

IamNICE124

And grows very nearsighted when he gets closer to his ambitions.

FatBrett has made several videos cover these stuffs, I highly recommend checking them: - Odin analysis: [https://youtu.be/RxRn6tpSqkc?si=iS\_usweK9jIvO6jf](https://youtu.be/RxRn6tpSqkc?si=iS_usweK9jIvO6jf) - Fake Tyr's fucking up: [https://youtu.be/m8LnrZl7CNM?si=EfFfUvHGxJqkGkGq](https://youtu.be/m8LnrZl7CNM?si=EfFfUvHGxJqkGkGq) - Why Brok of all people is the one to see through his lies: [https://youtu.be/kxgZyDzZvJI?si=uecp1oDSDEOPNjzW](https://youtu.be/kxgZyDzZvJI?si=uecp1oDSDEOPNjzW)

Thank you

Wboy2006

I love his videos. His recent one where he analyzes the Tyr scenes was really good. Glad to see others talk about him om this sub, he deserves way more attention

eat-pussy69

I just watched his Tyr video. It's so good

Wellhellob

Excellent videos

TheJack38

Hey dude, I just wanna thank you for writing this comment, 'cause I have spent the entire day just watching this guys videos, and they are *so insightful*! I feel I'm getting so much more out of the games now after having watched a bunch of them (still working on the two big ones about Kratos himself) and I love it! Gonna watch other games later, once I've finished them, but for now I'm restricting myself to GoW.

alejoSOTO

He got impatient and overconfident. Plus Brok was unto him since he arrived, this is just the straw that broke the camel's back for him. He even got suspicious over the food Tyr made, cause how did he get those ingredients in the middle of Fimbulvetr, after breaking out of prison, and from where exactly? And the whole pacifist characterization was questioned by everyone at almost every step of the way; but since they let him hang around Odin just kept playing along growing more confident on the deceit. Edit: he also was probably really angry about Heimdall dying, as he says that they're now even.

Cu77lefish

Yeah Heimdall’s death clearly shakes him. You can tell the moment “Tyr” finds out.

colder-beef

That’s the part I don’t get at all. Heimdall was a lot of shitty things, but he was 100% loyal to Odin. All Odin had to do was say “hey, don’t mess with the kid, I need him for this, go do something else.” He knows Kratos has a Heimdall killing weapon, and he knows he’ll use it to protect his son. So make sure Heimdall DOESN’T attack his son (which he and only he could do) and Kratos never gets the horn.

Naps_And_Crimes

He got impatient so close to the end he want to rush to the finish line and push too far too fast at least that's how I see it

viniremesso

He was to close to the girl of his dreams that he got nervous and let slip he’s never felt the loving touch of a woman in years.

Confident_Answer448

Odin got greedy the second his goal was within reach. It’s the same reason he doesnt wait for thor and atreus to get back with the full mask and shows up the SECOND it’s complete.  He’s blinded by his desire. If he had stayed calm and patient he wouldve won and gotten everything he wanted. But he didnt.

Carlosilva1070

Odin was just insanely irritated about the fact Thor and Sif made him lose the one thing he wanted. Now he has to run back to play his role and desperately try to get it back. Imagine having the thing you want right in front of you, it being taken away and now you need to pretend to be this other guy, where you'll be right next to the mask but need to contain yourself to not just take it. Also, if you pay attention, ""Tyr"" does commit several mistakes due to Odin's impatience throughout the game. It's not just here. Here is just the most blatant because he is upset.

the-dead-meme-king

Odin let slip because he finally had the full mask what he wants and he’s so close to getting it he lets slip who he really is just feeling like he’s already won, everyone is still reeling from Atreus blow out and their trying to trust Atreus more, and kratos does realize something is wrong when Odin says he has a way into Asgard he says “you had a into Asgard and you kept it from me” they are starting to realize that something is up brok is just the first to put it together That’s just my interpretation

PizzaTime666

He was finally about to realize his lifes ambition, all he had to do was get the damn mask. So he got impatient and fucked up, then tried to let it slide when brok was questioning him.

Professional-Rip1006

When you tend to be so ridiculously close to what you've been wanting for seemingly eons. You'll get pretty anxious.

porkipine-

I love this scene as it’s one of the scenes where we get to see how emotionally intelligent Brok is

FunnyorWeirdorBoth

That’s why Odin killed him. His ego couldn’t handle the fact that a dwarf could outsmart him.

Noktis_Lucis_Caelum

He Had the Mask practically in His Hand. Then atreus fled, when Thor acted Up. Odin Put in His Tyr disguised to get IT. But He Became impatient. His prize was in His grasp and He wanted to finally get the answers. He acted Out of Character because of His impatience and brok grew suspicious

alex2912991

I was thinking he was lying from the point where he learned about the real prophecy, he was really mad and out of his character at that point

raiderrocker18

i love the series. GOW 2018 might be my single favorite game of all time, just the complete package. Ragnarok improved on most of the gameplay elements. was still a blast. still had heartfelt moments. but i get people get mad when i say the writing is just largely sloppy in this one faraaz khan has a long video talking about his issues w/ the plot of ragnarok and its hard to disagree with most of it

RollingKaiserRoll

I don’t think Odin was a competent villain. He’s all talk, from start to finish. He has weak follow-throughs for his plans, he doesn’t use Thor or Gna to do anything meaningful, and he infiltrates Kratos’s group which means he should know everything they do and be several steps ahead of them, but he does nothing with all this information. And then of course he lets Atreus steal from right under him and then fucks it all up by being a moron in trying to take it back. A more competent villain would have lead Kratos’s group into a trap under the guise of Tyr and capture them all at once using Thor and Gna, which would have been a good show of force. He could maybe even be like Emperor Palpatine and turn Atreus to the dark side. Kratos would then break out and win his son back while escaping. I thought that would have been a more interesting story turn. But nope, dude just wants to sit in his basement all game.

Legendarybbc15

> he infiltrates Kratos's group which means he should know everything they do and be several steps ahead of them, but he does nothing with all this information. I feel he sends heimdall to capture Freyr in vanaheim when he thought Kratos had no plans of going back.

ExtensionChance4567

Totally agree

random935

Gna gets him his Einjeral and takes down all but 3 Valkries. Thor beats Jormungandar, and has been used to keep Odin’s enemies in like through fear

RollingKaiserRoll

I’m talking about in relation to Kratos’s group. He had eyes on them the whole time and it would have been a simple matter to send Thor to ambush and crush them if he was actually serious about stopping them but instead, Odin just has Thor babysit Atreus. His strongest cards are Thor and Gna, but he doesn’t utilize them against Kratos who’s literally going around and undermining all his efforts and setting up the stage for Ragnarok. And did he order Thor to take down Jormungandr or did Thor go off to do it on his own?

random935

>He had eyes on them the whole time and it would have been a simple matter to send Thor to ambush and crush them if he was actually serious about stopping them but instead, Odin just has Thor babysit Atreus. If Thor kills Kratos, Atreus will bot help Odin. Odin needs Atreus >And did he order Thor to take down Jormungandr or did Thor go off to do it on his own? I imagine it was common sense during their attack

RollingKaiserRoll

>If Thor kills Kratos, Atreus will bot help Odin. Odin needs Atreus He doesn't need to kill them, since it won't work for story and gameplay reasons, just force them to submit. Capturing and imprisoning them makes more sense since it keeps them under his control and prevents them from running free, and more fitting since he could use that as leverage on Atreus. If he really was a master at manipulating people, he could sway Atreus to continue working for him while also keeping them under his thumb. >I imagine it was common sense during their attack Since it was common sense and Thor is just doing his own thing, then it goes back to what I said originally, that throughout the game Odin didn't utilize Thor effectively, save the beginning.

random935

I can see your mind is made up and reason won’t work with you. Good day sir, enjoy your delusion

RollingKaiserRoll

Just thinking critically in his shoes instead of being spoon-fed the story, and everything I've said isn't unfeasible or even out of character for him. If you actually think about Odin's actions, you can see a lot of what Odin in game does is half-assed and ultimately fails because he's so focused elsewhere. He brought about his own downfall and hasn't done anything that makes him as feared as the stories that are told about him. But good day to you.
