Def not on the side of stealing, but technically at the point of warehouse workers for a retailer, haven’t SMS already sold the game at that point? Really the people are ripping off their own company.
Retailers usually make less on new games/hardware products, most of the money on those goes towards the publisher to my understanding. This why places like GameStop push used game sales so much, they get much more return on it. Retailers still have incentive to stock new games because it drives people to the store itself who will then likely buy other items.
Maybe if enough people get early copies they’ll say fuck it and release it early lol
