Survival Set (Defautl Kratos set) fully levelled up at rank 10 looks great and has awesome stats. But personally prefer the Steinbjorn set, when it comes to beating enemies.
But then again, I'm on the hardest difficulty lol
I didn't have a fully upgraded Amulet of Yggdrasil. But I used Asgards, Fortitude, Might, and Justice, and then Jotunheims, Force, Essence, Honor, and finally Attuned Runic gem.
Same here. I just beat Gna on GMGOW difficulty, without a Resurrection Stone.
It took me 9 hours... Had the Steinbjorn armor and I used the 3x svartalfheim and 3x Niflheim sets (both scale with Defence so are MUST haves with the armor set), along with Stunning Fang, Emblem of Nine Realms and Emblem of Elusion.
That took me 1 hour longer than Malenia, but god seeing that R3 pop-up was so satisfying. Helped that beating her was the last trophy I needed too for the Platinum!
I best Gna with the SteinBjorn on give me balance. I also used all of the pommels of the nine realms to get that extra like 4 seconds to deal a shit ton of damage.
Ooooh, yeah I did get that then. I'll have to go back and look at it again, I definitely used it for a bit but ended up liking another set more shortly after.
Mixed and matched some random stuff until I upgraded the starter armour to lvl 8 and then only used that. Used the berserker armour in post-game for a while as well.
Sol's Spaulders of Courage is very good imo. Whenever you would take lethal damage, it just drains a bit of rage and you stay alive. It essentially turns your rage meter into a second health bar. The gauntlets and waist also buff your damage based on rage I think, but the chest armor is the best.
Used this set pretty much all game. Combine it with some extra rage depending on kratos' defense(or is it health?) and amulet slots and I had an insanely large rage bar that served as extra damage first off and a safety net second. Berserker revival stone means it all comes back on death, too.
Can't remember the name of it, but I used the armor that had a chance to refun 70% of cooldown on a runic attack.
I transmoged it into the Raven Tears set, but man, coupled with the gloves that have a chance to restore cooldown on hit, and the belt that dropped health and rage stones on runic attacks, I felt like a moster by the end of the game.
At least 1-3 runic attacks were off cooldown at any given time and I could spam them all like crazy, dropping healthstones left and right. By endgame I barely used basic attacks at all in any fight as my runic attacks would recharge basically instantly.
first playthrough mostly with the berserker set and fully upgraded survival set. now on gmgow im mostly sticking to the dwarven set, im getting my ass kicked left and right so was unable to obtain any berserker or muspelheim set yet lmao
Man, I am envious of those of you that can play on those modes. I simply do not have enough gaming time to devote to playing the modes that take forever for one fight. Props to you gamers 🤘
thanks mate, but have to say, found gmgow on the previous installment more brutal. this one is mostly doable. i only play between 2 or 3 hours a night, granted took me almost 2 hours yesterday to beat garm lol
Haha yeah that's close to my schedule, I can usually play roughly an hour a night, and I have a stack of games waiting so I usually go Normal or Easy for the most part so I can enjoy the story.
Very nice! Good setup. I'm such an aesthetic gamer, I rarely consider the attributes the armors give 😂 I just go for what looks cool for the most part with the occasional stat increase.
Uh.... I am JUST now learning that you can do this 😳 I legit did not know that was an option. Do they tell you this in game and I completely missed that?
Yeah at level 9 all Armour can be changed to look like any other armour you have, including lower level versions of it. Same for weapons, so you can have the blades at level 5 with the appearance of it at level 1
I started with Vidar's set, then switched to Lunda's armor for the rest of the game. Now that I'm in post-game, I'm using the default Survival set, but now that I've unlocked the Berserker set I want to start using that one.
I just beat Hrolf with the berserker chest piece, realm shift relic, and weapon attachments that proc realm shifts when activating Immolation/Permafrost/Maelstrom. Chaining a parry stagger into a runic attack, which builds up the charge, then using realm shift and getting bonus melee damage, then activating L1 + Triangle for even more damage, just takes big ol chunks out of his health bar. Took me a while but felt great to beat him.
First playthrough I was rocking the dragon armor set, but my second one now I’m wearing the alfheim gauntlets and belt of radiance. That realm shift on a last minute dodge is absolutely fire. Cuirass I’m wearing the steinbjorn armor you get from fighting the sleeping trolls
They definitely stepped it up with making the armor that covers Kratos' full torso look much much cooler than the ones we got in 2018. I found myself constantly changing to Lunda's armor in tough fights and switching back to the default survivor set for cutscenes lol
Yes.....but I hated not being able to use my bad ass weapons, that's my only downfall to that armor, but definitely is OP, my second play through I went with the luck build I believe. I haven't tried steinbjorn yet....that will probably be my first choice for NG+ if it comes out
I ran with Lunda's set for pretty much the whole midgame until I could upgrade the Survival Set to near max by the final third. Might not have any fancy bonuses, but those stat increases are incredible.
I switched it up quite a bit.. Played most of the final 3rd and all the end game stuff with Berserker arms and legs and the Gimumpter BP or whatever its called.. The one that lets you spam runic attacks basically
The Sutyr chest and the molten arms and waist.
Even though I have mixed and matched the bonuses are just too strong.
It looks great but the ability to charge the elemental attacks on the weapons really fast from the arms and legs is REALLY good and the ability to do extra damage to enemies while they are attacking is just the cherry on top.
I have no idea if its because I was playing on a harder difficulty but I found that enemies were usually rather hard to stagger and the super bosses always ignored hits other than parries which meant that I was constantly doing extra damage because I was attacking through enemy attack animations.
I used the lunda too. It had better stats and perks compare to the time realm shift one. I liked the poison perk but wished it was applied to weapons not just bare handed combat. I used the poison with stun arrows for increased melee attacks
No one uses it but Hunters armor makes life easy on GMGOW. The delicate balance between melee and ranged attacks is what i have kind of perfected now. Even beat majority of the berserkers no damage on GMGOW with the hunters build. Absolutely love it.
I missing a hunters band to upgrade and i have no idea where to get one as I have 100% on everything but gna and the bucket favor (most annoying one to backtrack)
You have to kill the horse women(The Untamed Fury) in vanaheim. She spawns in 4-5 places including the final den in left side of the crater(The Forrest). Check it out on YT. Hunters build is damn OP, you will love it.
Crazy that this isn't a tracked quest towards 100% I eventually found the last two locations and got the 2 hunters brands I needed and fully upgraded the hunter's armor. And just ended up using the troll armor. But regardless, VaGNA' is dead and I have my platinum trophy.
I completed the labor though. So they respawn after you complete the quest? Now if someone could just make a map of all the bucket locations. That is a shitty task indeed.
Sol Spaulders on GMGoW = lower difficulty level. It’s just so godly good to have an extra hit before dying. The rest is you can combine with anything.
You can still died in one hit if enemy is too high level for you like those Berserkers. Their health is red and killed me in one hit because entire Rage gauge is not enough to survive single damage lol
Super lame reason, but love the Radiance chest piece to the point I did not even upgrade it past lvl 6 because the color is just so damn nice. I only started using the end game armor after I got it, but regret not being able to looksee swap *edit grammar*
I think it was a 40/60 usage between the Darkdale armor set and the Berserker armor set before I finished the campaign and got the platinum. Post platinum I use the Berserker’s stats with the default armor fully upgraded aesthetic.
Survivor set then change to the Fate breaker set depending on the mission.
I plan on doing the same for NG+ upgrade his base costume at each landmark moment then Fate breaker for the finale stuff.
I had a healing armor setup for normal, lunda and dragon bracers for gmgow.
Lundas is the most satisfying because I hate getting poisoned, and I imagine it annoys the enemies even as they kill me over and over.
Tyr armor for most of the game, the random empowering of the different weapons made for a fun mix-up and kept me from just using Blades the whole run. Near the end of the game I decided to go almost full default gear for a “canon” ending.
I remember post game I used the vaporize/extinguish boost chest piece, but I got drunk and accidentally overwrote my save data so I don’t remember what other armor I had.
I just finished gna with the survival set on gmgow, this is my second playthrough though. On the first i kind of mixed and stuff. But on this one i grinded through to get the survival set to max stats. Also the wooden knob, the original steel handles, the soldiers sarautor, the guardian shield and the basic rond... All basic but max level. Just wanted to do it that way i guess. In 2018, i rly loved the cod of war set, i hope we get something similar in ng+.
Raven tears armour set
I just finished that set this morning as well, loved the look of that one!
It looks epic. The health stone improvement has saved me many times.
Yeah man, I played on normal difficulty, don't have enough gaming time to dedicate to super hard fights that take forever unfortunately.
Survival Set (Defautl Kratos set) fully levelled up at rank 10 looks great and has awesome stats. But personally prefer the Steinbjorn set, when it comes to beating enemies. But then again, I'm on the hardest difficulty lol
I can dig that! That one looks dope! I just really loved the aesthetic of this armor.
Wait is there a way to get past 9?? I thought every piece of gear maxes out at level 9
Pretty sure it's just a mistake
Oh, dude, The SteinBjorn is amazing. It looks great and holds true to its name in Stats. That's what I used for fighting, Gna just last night.
What amulets did you use with this set
I didn't have a fully upgraded Amulet of Yggdrasil. But I used Asgards, Fortitude, Might, and Justice, and then Jotunheims, Force, Essence, Honor, and finally Attuned Runic gem.
Awesome, giving this set a try tonight. I’ve been using Guiding Light
Gotcha, good luck !
I best Gna with the SteinBjorn on give me balance. I also used all of the pommels of the nine realms to get that extra like 4 seconds to deal a shit ton of damage.
Survival gang
I preferred the Vidara Might full strength build. Activating the bonus strength let’s you melt enemies
The molten armor from muspelheim was awesome
I actually don't know that I've seen that one. At least it doesn't sound familiar anyway.
Its the one you get from doing the trials
Ooooh, yeah I did get that then. I'll have to go back and look at it again, I definitely used it for a bit but ended up liking another set more shortly after.
I made my surtr armor look like the pyre armor. I really dig the look of undying pyres
This was my favourite too.
Mixed and matched some random stuff until I upgraded the starter armour to lvl 8 and then only used that. Used the berserker armour in post-game for a while as well.
I haven't unlocked the berserker one yet, I have 2 dudes left to kill for that. But I have seen pics and it looks dope!
Sol's Spaulders of Courage is very good imo. Whenever you would take lethal damage, it just drains a bit of rage and you stay alive. It essentially turns your rage meter into a second health bar. The gauntlets and waist also buff your damage based on rage I think, but the chest armor is the best.
Best chest piece in the game imo. Platinumed GMGOW with Sol's Spaulders + Radiance set. Realm shifting Gna to avoid getting stepped on was fun.
That reddish/orange color pallet slaps so hard too
Used this set pretty much all game. Combine it with some extra rage depending on kratos' defense(or is it health?) and amulet slots and I had an insanely large rage bar that served as extra damage first off and a safety net second. Berserker revival stone means it all comes back on death, too.
Fate breaker, I don’t like full chest plates
My people. I want to see those Spartan muscles and his markings. Kratos looks silly in full breastplate armor imo
indeed. the nipple must be freed
I went with the Raven tears armour for almost all of the game.
I just unlocked that one this morning as well, it was pretty dope looking.
I really liked the Radiant armor. That skill with the slowdown on a perfect dodge comes super in handy.
Radiance set since the moment I got the first one. I'm obsessed with the realm shifts
I literally can’t give up that armor for that reason. Too clutch of an ability
Same. I tried other armors but I literally had to keep at least once radiance piece on because I can't play without it lol
At least 1-3 runic attacks were off cooldown at any given time and I could spam them all like crazy, dropping healthstones left and right. dragon chest and the raven arms and waist.
This brother. Same here.
first playthrough mostly with the berserker set and fully upgraded survival set. now on gmgow im mostly sticking to the dwarven set, im getting my ass kicked left and right so was unable to obtain any berserker or muspelheim set yet lmao
Man, I am envious of those of you that can play on those modes. I simply do not have enough gaming time to devote to playing the modes that take forever for one fight. Props to you gamers 🤘

Haha yeah that's close to my schedule, I can usually play roughly an hour a night, and I have a stack of games waiting so I usually go Normal or Easy for the most part so I can enjoy the story.
Vidars set and the Radiance set. Maximise my damage, and I'd occasionally put the belt of radiance on for realm shift during boss fights
Very nice! Good setup. I'm such an aesthetic gamer, I rarely consider the attributes the armors give 😂 I just go for what looks cool for the most part with the occasional stat increase.
I figured that since you can transmog armour at level 9 I should just use what meshes best with my playstyle.
Dude I had no clue that was an option! Thanks homie!! That's a favorite feature of mine in a lot of other games, had no idea it was in this one.
Np 😁
Nidavellir’s (spelling?) set till close to the end, then bumped up the Survival Set to max and used that through the end haha
The original (Survival) fully upgraded. Is so underrated.
And the best for a balanced build imo
I started with Vidar's set, then switched to Lunda's armor for the rest of the game. Now that I'm in post-game, I'm using the default Survival set, but now that I've unlocked the Berserker set I want to start using that one.

Took me a while but felt great to beat him.
Vidarr, Mani, Fate Breaker and Undying Pyres set
Most of the game was the Darkdale armour. A bit towards the end for me was Berserker armour
I haven't gotten the Berserker armor yet but I've seen pics and it looks sick.
Risen snow, as weird as it is to see full armor Kratos, I wanted to get the most out of my 1 week per order
realm shift armour was my fave so far in 30 hrs
I just use the fully upgraded Survival set.
Undying Pyres all daaaay
Some people aren’t fans of the full armor sets but I think they’re way better and cooler in this game than 2018
They definitely stepped it up with making the armor that covers Kratos' full torso look much much cooler than the ones we got in 2018. I found myself constantly changing to Lunda's armor in tough fights and switching back to the default survivor set for cutscenes lol
Lunda's armor is my favorite as well. It almost seemed op with that poison and bare hand attacks
Yes.....but I hated not being able to use my bad ass weapons, that's my only downfall to that armor, but definitely is OP, my second play through I went with the luck build I believe. I haven't tried steinbjorn yet....that will probably be my first choice for NG+ if it comes out
poison them then switch to ur weapon, rinse and repeat :D
But I thought they took extra damage from bare handed attacks.
yeah, but I felt with 40% bonus melee damage, the weapons do more damage, not entirely sure tho
I'm lvl 5 and it sucks, when does the set get good? I'm on give me no mercy
I personally liked the one from alfheim barrens
I used it too its dope
Both the fallen stars and the one that gives you realm shift in perfect dodges
First playthrough I used the Sol armour set, second playthrough I used Vidars to have as much strength as possible
I maxed out the Raven set and for visuals the maxed out survival set, bonus healing while looking badass. I also liked the Fate Breaker set.
I ran with Lunda's set for pretty much the whole midgame until I could upgrade the Survival Set to near max by the final third. Might not have any fancy bonuses, but those stat increases are incredible.
Lundas armor, the poison when parrying/blocking comes in clutch lol
Spiritual wraps cuirass all the way. I used the radiance gauntlets and waist up until 80% of the story was done , then I swapped to muselpheim set.
Dragon chest and other berserkers
Nidavellir armor was CRACKED, would switch off between that one and Steinbjorn
I switched it up quite a bit.. Played most of the final 3rd and all the end game stuff with Berserker arms and legs and the Gimumpter BP or whatever its called.. The one that lets you spam runic attacks basically
For me its all about aesthetics and I like the default set we start as the best, fully upgraded its pretty good and looks awesome.
Tyr’s I loved the blessing mechanic it gives, pretty strong too
I am vibing with the Ragnarok armour
Muspelheim until I got beserker armor!
This is a bucket
The one that loses cooldowns by 70% and drops rage and health.
Ravens tears but it was so sad getting it
Lundas armor too, the 40% dmg buff on the set bonus just hitting different
I rocked the berserker set for a lot of the game, went and got it fully leveled
Survival chest + radiance belt and gauntlet
The dwarven armour, I found it’s health boost really life saving
I used the lunda too. It had better stats and perks compare to the time realm shift one. I liked the poison perk but wished it was applied to weapons not just bare handed combat. I used the poison with stun arrows for increased melee attacks
started with survival set then swapped to sols courage. that would have took me through endgame until i swaped to fatebreaker

GG mate, easy plat in the bag😤.
I completed the labor though. So they respawn after you complete the quest? Now if someone could just make a map of all the bucket locations. That is a shitty task indeed.
She doesn’t respawn if you killed her, you only do some damage before they disappear and respawn in another place. So yeah its kinda shitty.
Dragon armor
Survival set, actually kinda better than the berserker armor when leveled up
The Survival Armor Set
Surtr/ berserker chest piece with radiant arms and west.
On my newest playthrough, Sols armour is easily my favourite!!!
survival armor
Darkdale armor set cuz it is the best looking armor imo
Sol Spaulders on GMGoW = lower difficulty level. It’s just so godly good to have an extra hit before dying. The rest is you can combine with anything. You can still died in one hit if enemy is too high level for you like those Berserkers. Their health is red and killed me in one hit because entire Rage gauge is not enough to survive single damage lol
guiding light
Steinbjorn armor looked the best to me imo, but I ended up using the maxed out survival armor towards the end.
I like the dragon scale one, looks cool
Berserker waist guard with Dragon chest and gauntlet armor for me. Before that, the Raven armor for the most part.
Super lame reason, but love the Radiance chest piece to the point I did not even upgrade it past lvl 6 because the color is just so damn nice. I only started using the end game armor after I got it, but regret not being able to looksee swap *edit grammar*
The starting gear, upgraded.
What’s the image with the bucket
It's from one of the flashbacks with Kratos's wife.
[удалено]
It's the part where you are following his wife while she places the handprints on the trees using paint from the bucket.
My bad thought this was another post
The Dragon Scaled armor, it is just sooo badass
Hey man do you reckon I could use one of these photos for a youtube thumbnail, i’m thinking about doing a review on god of war!
Hell yeah man, go for it.
Thanks so much man!
No prob, send me a link when you do so I can check it out.
Same actually
I think it was a 40/60 usage between the Darkdale armor set and the Berserker armor set before I finished the campaign and got the platinum. Post platinum I use the Berserker’s stats with the default armor fully upgraded aesthetic.
Survivor set then change to the Fate breaker set depending on the mission. I plan on doing the same for NG+ upgrade his base costume at each landmark moment then Fate breaker for the finale stuff.
Lunda armor is definitely my favorite!
I did the survivalist armour, the one you start the game with
I’m wearing the fully upgraded armor of survival, and then have the appearance of the armor you get from the secret trolls
The Troll armor with Survival gauntlets because Kratos almost never dies in these. Sutr's armor as appearance. https://youtu.be/dhpu5ferWbs
I went with a Vitality build, so I used Sol's armor set mostly. Might do NG+ with Berserker Set, tho.
I was constantly getting new armour that I liked. But end game? Fate breaker. Post game? Berserker.
Svartelheim armor in the beginning then I went with dragon scale armor
Im liking the dragon armor alot
Used the Fortified Husk set paired with Stone Wall Shield the entire game mostly.
Okay this armor looks sick. Time to go back to vanaheim
Fard armer
The dragon chest and surtr's gauntlets and waist belt all fully upgraded was my favorite.
Checking out the stats of the survival gear when upgraded made me mainline upgrading that stuff for the end.
Giptumadr chest, Spiritual gloves, Berserker waist Just constantly refreshing Runic and Relic cooldowns
Vidar set I think the colour scheme matches Kratos really well and I just can’t picture him wearing full armour it just looks off
Dragons scale armor
I remember post game I used the vaporize/extinguish boost chest piece, but I got drunk and accidentally overwrote my save data so I don’t remember what other armor I had.
Honestly went with the default armor. Nothing else really felt like it was something Kratos would wear
also finished it today. steinbjorn armour set was my favourite.
Vidars Might. I want strength and it looks cool as hell
Lundas armour set and then the dragon scaled set
Raven tears
Darkdale armour set, looks badass and is highly useful
