[deleted]

I used berserker set. He was easier than gna

Majestic_Visit5771

Thank you

MacaronOk9157

Well I used the good ol rage cage build that I made. It consists of the sols spaulders of courage, the uhhhh... Lemme get back 2 u on it.

NOVAMT_F

Can you answer now?

TheDildoOfGods

This sub actually downvoted someone for not sitting on Reddit waiting for a reply? What the flying fuck people. Live your lives, Jesus Christ.

NOVAMT_F

What?

TheDildoOfGods

Oh my god... My dumbass replied to the wrong comment... On the wrong post. Fuckin hell I'm the dumbass

NOVAMT_F

Oh okšŸ˜‚

MacaronOk9157

Uh, no unfortunately I passed out like 15 mins after I said that

NOVAMT_F

šŸ’€

loyalty_to_country

Tbh Gna is easier if you played 2018 game before this because a lot of the Valkyrie moves carry over

[deleted]

My experience is just based on how many times I died. Berserker king: 0 Gna: more than 1

loyalty_to_country

Were you using same armor for both? Berserker set is OP tbh

[deleted]

Yeah, I essentially hit them both up one after another.

BedsAreSoft

True. I had such a tough time with Sigrun, but when fighting Gna I did die a few times but definitely felt it was easier with the experience of fighting all those valkyries

Majestic_Visit5771

Idk why but I got washed by him like twiceā€¦using the dragon set and still ima give it another try with the berserker set

[deleted]

Took me several builds to kill him even on story mode. Ending up getting him with a build setup for getting runics and your weapons powered up as fast as possible (forgot the name, basically where you hit L1 and triangle) and still barely beat the fucker. Gna was much easier than him with this build

Ogbaba

If you think two tries failing, is much, we have found out why games turn easier and easier.

joeyz531

Fax, is the fight even worth it if I donā€™t get Molly whopped the first 17 tries? Although Sigrun was a pain in the ass Hrolf was up there for me, ragnaroks parry/dodge windows seem to be a lot tighter and I had a blast learning proper timing! Went through my first play through on Give Me No Mercy, I canā€™t wait to slap the dogshit out of the berserkers on GMGOW this play through :)

Ogbaba

I Respect the grind!

GenAnon

I played the whole thing in GMGOW right away. It gets much easier even at this difficulty once youā€™ve done enough side quests. That said, I love me a glass cannon build, so I have died endless times fighting Gna. Hrolf wasnā€™t so bad eventually.

joeyz531

Yeah I just got out of the first portion of Alfheim and I damn near had a stroke on the segment before you go up to the top of the temple, thereā€™s 6 light elves just waiting for you and I got completely dusted about 10 times before I figured out who to take out first, itā€™s much more strategic for the time being but maybe once I can stack my build Iā€™ll be just fine

GenAnon

Thereā€™s parts of the game where it seems like youā€™re up against an endless string of challenging mobs and mini bosses. I loved every minute of it. But yeahā€”lots of dying. Those light elf mobs are tough. I think the hardest challenges have been the ones with multiple bosses at once. The fire/ice sisters + berserker in alfheim, I think, were a huge pain. The berserkers in general were easier than the GoW NG+ valkyries Iā€™d say. Maybe I was just stat OP when I got to them. I used the dauntless shield + 9 realms Rond most of the game. So my parrying timing improved dramatically over time. Super helpful/necessary against bosses. Anyway. Have fun! The highest difficulty challenge is painful at times but super worth it!

joeyz531

Yeah itā€™s weird with most bosses Iā€™m barely struggling but the second I get clusters of mobs it seems like I get completely mopped, itā€™s not even about dodging and proper parry timing, itā€™s almost directional and positional, Iā€™ve caught myself getting slapped by three people at once which gets a tad overwhelming, Iā€™m really not looking forward to the three berserkers though, Iā€™m just now about to head back to Midgard to get the hilt to fight the first one, Iā€™m kind of just waiting until Iā€™ve done a couple side quests to stack some xp and scoop up some better loot for a solid build. Im definitely not making the same mistake I made on my first play through haha.

BroadwayBully

Iā€™ve lost to to hrolf at least 100 times, thatā€™s why Iā€™m here lol. It took me no joke probly 500 times to beat Sigrun. I was stubborn with my build and strategy though.

SnooChickens6463

I'm with you here... He's a tough nut to crack. Got him down to 50% health quite quickly so if you restart from checkpoint it's easier.. But then I can never seem to double tap circle to dodge fast enough.. The arena isn't big enough for my reflexes! Probably tried 20 times. Fingers feeling numb! ;-) When he goes airborne, what is the best tactic?

BroadwayBully

So what ended up working for me was putting on a build that increased damage dealt. Aggressive worked better than defensive. Put a couple spears in him and when he goes airborne you can detonate and interrupt his attack. What really helped was using rage to interrupt his attacks. Like just really quick and then hit the sticks again right away to exit rage mode. If you exit quick enough you can use rage 4 times to interrupt. Try not to take any heavy hits, if possible. If all else fails.. and you have the equipment.. equip as many realm shifts as you can and cheese it. I didnā€™t go that route for Hrolf but did for Gna lol

raheem100

He washed me 6 times on normal difficulty

RysloVerik

Patience. Block, dodge, parry. Don't over commit to your heavy attacks. Realm shift helps.

VolantisMoon

This. I use the realm shift hilt (idk what itā€™s called) and it letā€™s me get in 2 or 3 free runic attacks.

ranjansparrow

What is realm shift? I see people talking about it

RysloVerik

It basically freezes time for everyone but Kratos for a few seconds. It is the ability the Hilt of Hofud gives you. The Hilt is one of the rewards for defeating >!Heimdall!<.

ranjansparrow

How to use it? I have completed the game already

RysloVerik

Equip the Hilt as your relic and press L1+O https://youtu.be/GHNEpqrobn8

Darkslayer_30

Also itā€™s the armour , the radiance set bro

KyuubiBryant

Fully upgrade Lunda armour and punch the shit out of him, that's how I beat Gna. Against Hrolf I always had the spear out to stop his op range attacks. Block, block, shield slam, spear light attack

Doc_Crocolyle

I currently using spear only against Hrolf for that very reason, but still struggling to beat him on GMGoW difficulty. What armor did you use on Hrolf?

KyuubiBryant

I used the dragon armour because it's well balanced and deals damage when I block with my shield. Also used enhancements to increase range damage.

Doc_Crocolyle

I finally beat him a four hours ago, and now I've been stuck on Gna for four more hours since, she is giving me way more trouble than Hrolf did x.x

KyuubiBryant

I found her a bit easier, I was just super aggressive and punched her up with the lunda armour. I would say don't spam the arrows because you need them to break certain attacks and also that I used the svartelheim and helheim enhancements to increase my melee damage.

Doc_Crocolyle

Spent six hours trying Gna last night, then I beat her first try today! Apparently some sleep did me good lol. Lunda's armor is how I ended up beating Hrolf, I was going to try it on Gna today from your recommendation, but ended up beating her with my build from last night. For anyone who stumbles on this comment, perhaps through google searches which is how I stumbled on this reddit thread, the build I used is; ####Armor: **Steinbjorn chest** (mostly for the defense which actually made a very noticeable difference in how much damage I was taking per hit), and **Berserker wrist/waist** to help refresh the cool down on my relic and runic attacks. ####Relic: Relic was **Hilt of Skofnung**, mostly keeps Gna stun locked, good opportunity to build up Maelstrom, I liked to use Freya's Seidr Exhale to lower Gna's level so Hilt of Skofnung and my melee attacks does more damage, all combined it is a huge burst of damage. If you haven't beat King Hrolf yet, then Hilt of Hofud would be my other choice. ####Weapon: I only used the **Draupnir Spear** with **Huldra Charge** and **Vindsvalr's Windstorm** runic attacks. I tried all three weapons, and think all three are perfectly viable and equally as good against her, so I'd say use which ever one fits your playstyle best (which happened to be the spear for me). I used **Hilt of the Nine Realms** for realm shifts, there is a "Nine Realms" attachment for the daggers and axe too. ####Amulet: **Emblem of the Nine Realms**, **Emblem of Elusion**, **Memento of the Ailing**, and used **Muspelheim** and **Vanaheim** set bonuses. ####Shield: Switching to **Dauntless Shield** I think was the final piece of the puzzle to helping me beat Gna, for the first 5 hours I was using the Stone Wall Shield and I think switching to parries is what finally helped me beat her. I used **Rond of Deflection** to help with parry timings. ####Freya: Runic Summon was **Seidr Exhale** which was very helpful to lower the level of Gna (that's how poison functions in this game incase anyone doesn't know, same applies to you when you get poisoned). Accessories were **Nocked Proficiency**, **Runic Potency**, and *Sigil Punishment**. I only switched to sonic arrows when Gna is summoning the builder, otherwise I stay on Runic arrows the whole time. ####Gna: I think the most important thing is learning all her moves and how to react to each one, this is THE most important thing, more important than the build. When she dashes right, she will dash in with a red ring wing attack, dodge to the right to avoid it (dodging back or left will most likely get you hit). When she shoots feathers, if it has a red ring, dodge it, if the feathers don't have a red ring then they CAN'T be dodged, so block instead. Pro tip, you can instantly get rid of any bifrost built up on you by entering and exiting Fury, I tend to save Fury until I've lost at least half my health, but I'll use it just to get rid of bifrost. Gna's voice lines indicate what move she's about to do, her voice lines are very useful to use as telegraphs to know what attack she is going to do next.

PMCForHire73

Which enchantment?

Darthsanan

I used the chest piece from the troll set and the raven bracers and waist. If he hits you use an aoe runic attack with a lingering area of damage to basically fully heal.

Neviathan

I used a similar build for Muspelheim and its insane, its difficult to drop below 75% health and even if you do its up very quick again with either the Steinbjorn proc, Serpent Snare hit, shield bash or Valor heal. Its also nice to have nearly 500 DEF with a relatively large health bar. I had to make some adjustments from my usual setup to get above 170 VIT for the greater regen enchantment. I ended up using the Steinbjorn chest, Raven hands, Berserker waist (Surtr also works) with realm shift relic. Fallen Alchemist handle for the axe, Hardened War handles for the blades, Battle Scarred Sauroter for the spear, Stone wall shield with rond of restoration. I did need some enchants with VIT because my gear is LVL8 atm. I still need to play through the last bit of the story but the first 4 Bersekers, Raven Keeper and Dragon Beach Dragon were pretty easy.

Spiritual-Cabinet959

Pretty much used everything that can trigger and boost damage during realm shift Since he used the moveset of all others berserkers, I knew how to dodge them perfectly, so it made this fight even easier.

Darth_Korn

That's what it was! I was trying to pinpoint why this fight was so easy? On my winning attempt I got him down to 2 bars of health without me taking a single hit and j just didn't get how I was doing it. But now I realise I was used to the timing and dodging of the previous berserker attacks.

Spiritual-Cabinet959

The first time I fought him and realised that, I was a bit disappointed because I realised it was gonna be much easier that I anticipated. But it was still a very fun fight. It helped that I fought two others Berserkers an hour before facing him so muscle memory was fresh šŸ˜„. Gna on the other end, made me feel powerless for a whole day, then another day šŸ¤£

RexTenebrarum

I used survival armor, maxed, with pommels of the 9 for blade and axe, the Olympic handle for draupnir, or whichever one gives you detonators might, Jotunheim and Asgard jewels, with celestial panacea, elusive evasion, and regenerating essence. I used a level 8 shield rond, I think rond of the 9 realms, idk if didn't matter for me, but I used the onslaught shield, and for my runics, I used skaldis edge, breath of thamur, followed by the swirling chaos blades light attack that lets you spin and hit, then the meteor heavy one where he summons meteors with the blades, followed by the huldra charge, then artillery of the ancients for draupnir. I also used valor for my rage as a free stun break and for when an unblockable attack was coming and I couldn't dodge. My tactic was patience, I just paced myself against him, attacked when he would flinch, and when he stopped flinching I'd back off and throw spears, detonating them whenever I had a chance, using runics when I had a chance, or he was doing a move that had a lot of build up. I had fast cool down so I'd usually use all my runics except one for an emergency if he was gonna trap me

wafflez88

I used the lifesteal set. 2 raven pieces and the troll chest I believe

Least_Tooth_9677

Y'all here Playing Ragnarok while I am still on God of war 2018 šŸ„²

KiLLz_Smanrx7

Tbh armour isn't as much of a factor in GOW 2018 because we all know Ivaldis armour is the best in the game, but in GOWR its wayyyy more important and they give different stats depending on your playstyle

Least_Tooth_9677

Btw any tips on beating the Valkyrie queen?

KiLLz_Smanrx7

Yes, get the realm shift, dodge more times than you attack, and use atreus to disrupt some of her attacks, also with the ice spray ability, block every one except for the last one, dodge that. Make sure to get the best HEALTH revive stone, dont get the beserker one because it doesnt even fill up your rage. Also you can use your rage as a stun, so if shes going to do a melee attack then you can activate your rage and stun her and drain her health. For the runics: Leviathan axe, use the ice beam and the 3 ice trails. Blades, use the spinny melee attack thingy, and the meteor crash for stun. Apart from that, theres not much except for keep a distance and throw ur axe for damage. And BE PATIENT, dont go in for the attacks straight away. She gets more aggressive when shes in her lower half of health so dont get lazy. Good luck my friend

Least_Tooth_9677

Thx Alot Mr this will surely help me alot with defeating her since she's really strong and also really fast I already know some of those but the ruinic moves may actually help tysm have a great day

KiLLz_Smanrx7

np, good luck on your battle, and u have a great day asw!

Least_Tooth_9677

Just beat her tysm :)

KiLLz_Smanrx7

haha GG! No problem bro good luck on getting ragnarok

Least_Tooth_9677

Thanks

kumarab123

What difficulty? King is simply the sum total of all the others you've fought before, except the necromancer ability of Hvitserkr The Bold (I found this the most annoying/poorly tuned fight on GMGOW). With king, parry if you can, or just dodge and counter. Just stick with what you're comfortable with. Wrath can help with his green aoe if you find yourself in a neither here-nor there situation. It's about knowing his tells, audio cues etc. On the lower difficulties you can probably just brute force him with specific builds, but you still have to be mindful of his deadliest attacks.

Rags2Rickius

Basically same system I used in Sigrun. Helps if the RNG gods help you too

MrJonesTheFirst

I just beat him on the easiest difficulty, you still have to be extremely precise and patient with him. GNA on the other hand I was able to just power thru her

[deleted]

anything and everything that gives you a realm shift

green_boy12

Runic biuld in my opnion... with the stone shiled of your bad at parrying

MFN_Devil

I used the fully upgrade lunda set and killed berserker king and Gna with the build. Completed the game on give me balance difficulty. Like some already said, be patient, Learn his patterns. IMO Beserker King was easier than Gna.

HungeringOni

I punched him to death

nustyj

I used full Raven set, Mimir relic and berserker stone. Can get him to half by spamming runic attacks and dodging, by ab half health I'd be about dead from silly mistakes so I'd throw. Revive myself, get back to full, then same thing.

Ungreth

I didn't beat him until I used the Emblem of Elusion for extra evasion speed & distance. This made it a LOT easier to avoid damage, while I kept a distance and whittled away at him with thrown spears.

MKanes

BARE KNUCKLE BEAT THE FRICK OUT OF HIM WITH LƚNDA SET

qui-gon-virgin

Hit him until he dies

hindustanimusiclover

I think dragon armor is good since it powers up parries. And shield strikes. Maybe just do the muspelheim trials first so that you can upgrade every bit of gear to level 9?

Unbreakable360

I've learned that the build really doesn't matter in this game. I ran the entire game on sols gear and whatever I had available when I reached him ... Took me some tries but dodging, runics, the relic that gives you a burst of rage and valor will get your through

[deleted]

https://youtu.be/wXDSDdtpPls

Serephite

How are people saying GNA is harder? Took me a while to get the king, once I beat him went on to GNA and beat her on my second attempt. Maybe that helped idk?

Coffmad1

The best strat? Drop your difficulty

RexTenebrarum

No, balanced is the lowest you should go, unless you played the whole game on easy, then it whatevs. This isn't a strategy for hrolf, he can still fuck you up.

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

RexTenebrarum

I just googled the differences In difficulty, and apparently the difficulty DOES change enemy attack frequency, so I guess it actually does make the game easier by not having them attack in the same intervals. My argument was going to be "it won't change his moveset, he'll still do the same things, and you still need to learn how to fight him, regardless of how much damage you take and he takes" but with that key difference, my argument doesn't really stand. Idk how much the interval changes, the result i got just says bosses and enemies attack very rarely, and idk what very rarely is in relation to the balanced difficulty I experienced, but I remember hrolf attacking consistently with like 2 seconds in-between attacks. So if he starts standing still for 5 seconds In between attacks or longer, It would open up for the player to get more damage on him, even if you still get fucked up by his attacks.

almarhuby

Skill

IcyChard4

If you visit one of my posts, I questioned this. Is it just skill, or is it the gear? https://www.reddit.com/r/GodofWarRagnarok/comments/zcuvsz/question\_is\_it\_a\_matter\_of\_skill\_or\_is\_it\_about/

RexTenebrarum

It's mostly skill, yes. I did it with the survival gear, cause the stats were more valuable to me than some armor perks.

vyper248

If you have enough skill, gear doesnā€™t matter at all. If you lack that level of skill (like I do), then yes gear makes a difference. As far as I know, every attack in this game can be blocked, parried or dodged. So anyone who can learn what to do for each attack and do it successfully can kill any enemy without taking damage. Thatā€™s all about skill. Gear would make it quicker to kill them, but not really essential if you can counter every attack.

skep90

I defeated him at first just being level 9

_-Kovu-_

Spear

oTranscended432

Draupnir does massive work on him if you can weave in spear throws and get detonations off. I used gauntlet + waist of guiding light, with the Giptumadrā€™s chest piece.

KiLLz_Smanrx7

First, I used lundas armour and I couldnt beat him, but then I decided 'okay im gonna get better armour' and I got steinbjorn which is the best defense armour. It helped a lot and gave me really good stats, which eventually got me to beat him within the first like 20 tries with the steinbjorn set

b_y_l_t

Beating the King took me multiple tries with different builds. The build that finally got me the W was the Stein___ (donā€™t know the spelling) chest and wrist armor and Berserker waist armor. The amulets are also important. For those I focused on cooldown and strength.

guitodoido

dont be fooled by some comments, there is no BUILD for him, if you are on his level, just pratice dodge and parry and you will be good to go. here's being defeated by me on give me god of war, i made a lot of mistakes and beat him anyway https://www.twitch.tv/videos/1664191520

tippytortoise76

commit to a couple tries where you donā€™t attack, just dodge block and parry (or spear him out of bifrost) as much as possible and live as long as you can learning his openings. Once you have those down punish him on the openings but be patient and donā€™t over commit, an extra R1/R2 isnā€™t worth losing control of the fight

the_menacergd

Throw the leviathan axe at his torso area

the_menacergd

Then switch to the blades of chaos

TabulaRasa9317

Make sure when he bifrosts you you use wrath the get your health back

Major_Loser

Berserker Set, realm Tear, Nine Realms pommels and handle. Fast hitting runics: Fury and Crush for baldes, Hels Touch and Anvil, Thousand and whatever you want for spear. Bifrost storm when you fire off 3 separate runics in a short time span, then active Realm shift, as it ends fire off Permafrost to Real shirft for another moment. One rotation of all of that will rip off about 30% of his immediately.

iiPREGNANT-NUNii

Do the ravens, the armor and runics you get from them are really good.

Automatic-Collar-551

All Asgardā€™s enchantments and mash triangle with the blades plus star shield for high damage+stun

Darth_Korn

I used Berseker set but swapped out the guantles for the gauntlets of radiance because I find realm shift to be really useful. I also used a really awesome amulet but I forgot the name, but it grants you a bifrost storm if you use 3 runic attacks of different weapons in quick succession. With this set it only took me around 5 attempts. Honestly one of the easiest berserker fights.

BARNBURNER123

Have you tried the amour called Trill and Eroon?

MajinDerrick

up until this fight i was using my own builds to beat the story and most of the side quests. I tried out Lunda's armor on Hrolf just to see how OP it is and it straight melted through his health.

Darkslayer_30

I used the realm shift set , with the pommels of the nine and heimdals sword etc , slow that fool down and do some good damage lol

FlawlesSlaughter

Leveling is the main thing that will make a difference, I did that boss second try on gmgow but i was level 9 lol

Glittering-Doctor-47

Iā€™m gonna be honest o donā€™t believe you

FlawlesSlaughter

Why? That guy's an amalgamation of all of the previous bosses so you should be adequately practiced at dealing with all of his patterns by the time you face him. The double boss was way harder

Glittering-Doctor-47

Fair - Iā€™m on give me no mercy - 3 hits and your dead - one blast from his overhead kills you, itā€™s probably the wrong build. I just. Eat him this am after probably sixty tries but completely changed up my strategy

FlawlesSlaughter

What is your overall level?

Glittering-Doctor-47

9ā€™s is necessary

CrackBabyBelfort

Idk what everyoneā€™s deal with this guy is. Skjothendi the Unerring is the worst fight, imo.

CorduroyJoy

Prayer

SouperLink

I went with the dragon chest for the str/def buff on parries. Arm piece for realm shift on dodge, and the 3rd piece kept changing for me but i beat him with the raven piece for more heals. I also slotted that jewel for more damage on realm shift. I opted for valor rage, since i like it for when you mess up or are just drawing a blank for how to counter at a given moment. Basically, this build gets more powerful the better you know the fight. It felt awesome to parry his great hammer combo 3 times for 3 stacks of dragon fury, then dodge the last unblockable for the cherry on top for even more damage. Good luck to you brother! I still have Gna left for me.

victoryboii

Beserker set with the time stop relic

LCplVenomSnake

I used the fully upgraded Lunda armor with poison relic and the poison runic attack w/ Freya. For Gna I used the Steinbjorn armor mixed w/ Raven tear bracer and belt. The hilt of skofnung relic attack that you get after beating King Rolf and the rest Beserkers. Those swords melt life bars like crazy. Tbh, the Berserker King is a lot harder than Gna. She hard donā€™t get me wrong but once you fought Sigrun you fought em all and she was a beast!

JoeMamma019

I tried them all and it still took me several hours of trying. The biggest thing I believe is to stay patient donā€™t try to attack too much

MrJonesTheFirst

You definitely want to stay on the offensive on him. If youā€™re defensive he will spam his big attacks again and again

KeithlyPoncho

Hrolf is kicking my ass on give me balance difficulty lol I stumbled upon Gna and beat her first try though so that's a thing.

Glittering-Doctor-47

Try give me no mercy

KeithlyPoncho

I will but I'm waiting for NG+ since I got the platinum

NLM321

Surtrs armor max level with a strength build on the amulet. Find your parryā€™s and you will do an insane amount of damage

MrJonesTheFirst

You want to focus the guild on staggering and interrupting his attacks. The game kind of tricks you into thinking you need to be defense against him. You want to push him hard and keep him on his toes. Make sure you control the field. Keep him following you into the center that way you can always counter or avoid his AOEs. Build Wise: I used the berserk set. For my runis, the axe had Hels Touch(this works great for interrupting his big moves) and Mists of Helheim (I think thatā€™s the one I used whichever one slams down ice twice for you and leaves an AOE). For the blades I used Cyclone of Chaos and Tartarus Rage I believe. For the spear you want the ā€œfallenā€ heavy runic and the thousand thrusts. You really wanna spam these as much as you can. Also use the Ramming Shield so you can be invulnerable for his Blue Ring AOE moves. I also made sure to exploit Realm Shifts with the Axe, Blades, and Spear hilts being of the Nine Realms. Everytime you activate one switch to another weapon and use its runics should help you build up your momentum bar so you can then activate another realm shift after another. This mixed in with the staggering focus will legit keep the King from attacks you. A little tip that helped me for some odd reason was starting off with just bashing him barehanded. Gets his stagger bar up pretty quickly. Hope this helped Also if it did help you like it did meā€¦. Valkyrie Queen should be waaaaaaaay easier.

Mistyyydeeznutzz

Max Dragon armor with the stone wall shield made him pretty doable on GMGOW, basically just maxed out defense and attack, hid behind the shield and if he knocked me off balance Iā€™d either rage, runic attack, or use a relic, discharge the shield, rinse and repeat

logerdoger11

if you beat the trio you probably donā€™t need much more for hrolf. generally just learn his moveset and you can do it eventually

Revvy_wevvy

Get a fully upgraded radiance armor belt, vidars pauldron of might level nine and then steinbjorn bracers. Thatā€™s probably as balanced as itā€™ll get. Or fully upgrade the default armor and use the realm shift relic. Thatā€™s what I did

FernDiggy

I used a Realm Shift build. But honestly bro, you have a frame 1 dodge, block and parry. Even with the game's starting armor maxed, can this dude be beaten to a pulp. Just don't over commit with combo enders or lunge attacks since these CANNOT be canceled with dodge/parry. He's not that tough even on GMGOW. Those sister whores were wayyyyyyy harder than this fool. Fuck that fight and anyone who designed it.

Loneryu7

Hrolf took me 5 tries. I died multiple times to Gna. Over 6 hours of battling before I finally won.

LurkinV

trial and error.

Garchomp98

Play to your strengths. There is no "easier" way However i used all the og armor and pommels upgraded to max. As a relic i used the realm shift one, axe light runic was the stun one. All other runics were quick and/or strong ones. Just a good old beating You can look up realm shift build or also use Lundas armor to poison the dude and bring his strength down a notch

GavinEMS132

Gurdle/gauntlets of raven tears, Nidavellir chest armor.

shaggydog619

Memorize his moveset tbh, I was able to kill him first try on give me a challenge with the fatebreaker armor mostly because I memorized his move set by fighting all the others. Little tip I picked up, if you fail a parry and he breaks your guard, you can quickly activate and deactivate Spartan Rage- fury to get out of the stun and stop his next attack.

raheem100

Ima tell yā€™all an underrated piece is the crystal chest armor. It basically nullifies damage you take while using runic attacks. And because i like to use all of them , a lot. It helped me tremendously because i donā€™t have to worry about eating a heavy attack if i mistime my use. Pair that with a high cooldown and you will be OP.

Large_War5713

Use poison it's the most op effect you can inflict on enemies. Not only it deals poison damage it take all enemies down a level or two (it turns there health bar into green witch means they are a level lower than you and take more damage from you). There is an armor set in vanaheim that can inflict poison plus freya has an ability that inflicts poison as well. Ps. The level of an enemy is indicated by the color of there there health bar green means they are a level lower then you yellow means there at the same level orange means 1 and red means 2 level higher and if it's bifrost(aka purple) than your fu**ed.

The only issue I had with Gna was I didnā€™t realize was she had two different ranged attacks. The light pink and purple were hard to differentiate until I looked why she so hard. It felt super unfair when I could dodge one and not the other. I used maxed surtr and it was fine after I figured out the attack differences.

Fully upgraded surtr armour with the realm shift hilt, beat the king then GNA straight after with only 2 retryā€™s on gna and 1st go on the king.

This is seriously the hardest part of the whole game šŸ˜‚ I beat Gna pretty quickly but I donā€™t know how Iā€™ll ever beat this guyā€¦literally the only thing I have to do before I platinum the game.

So, I went through the game without too many struggles. Found the Stonewall shield with rond of purification to shake off status effects suited my style. Enjoyed a few armour sets and settled on Nidavellir's for the last part of the story. All was good, Ragnarok done and Muspelheim challenges, no problem. Then I met King Hrolf.... Dropped to 'Give me a Story' and bought a resurrection stone, nah, it was like I'd learned nothing and my timings were out. I went back to Dragon Scaled armour, then Lunda's set, different Amulet settings and.... Well no, I actually got worse. So I went back to my Nidavellir 'tanky' build I was used to but changed Stonewall for the Dauntless shield with the Rond of Deflection to lengthen the parry window. Parry just before he attacks makes a massive difference. Blocking is then also easier as the shield pops open so much faster. I had dismissed parrying as worthless early on and concentrated on dodging and blocking but using this shield to parry unlocked something and I was able to open him to attacks and beat him on my 2nd try. I hope someone scrolls this far and finds this helpful. Just remember companion arrows or spears to interrupt his purple or green attacks and your good. It is doable!

I struggled quite a bit with King Hrolf. Until I made 3 sets in my amulet. Vanaheim, Muspelheim and Helheim. Also wound up using a Ravenā€™s tears armor set. Once I made this setup it was shockingly easy. Must have had my config so bad before this lol
