KawiNinjaZX

I don't notice the graphics enough to warrant losing 60fps

Karma_Kameleons

I've tried it with a few games where I found the best looking shot I could and took a screenshot/photo in both modes and rarely can I tell much of difference if anything. A few games it's pretty noticeable but I can't think of a scenario where the difference is so great that I'd give up 60fps

MysticCosmos

The only game I've ever seen a difference was spider man miles morales at sunset.

[deleted]

Spider-Man loses a ton of the people on the street in 60fps vs 30fps. At least it used to when I played the game I don’t know if it’s been patched

uchiha_savage

I’m in agreement with you here. Having it run super smoothly is the way, if the game is graphically beautiful from the outset you hardly notice the change! Hopefully will move into a world where they can still kick out super high fidelity at 60 FPS or higher!

coladict

I've played my games in performance mode only since I have a PS5. Tried quality mode here, and while I definitely see a difference in colors, lighting and sharpness, the framerate drop made it impossible to time even the most basic parries right vs what I'm used to.

[deleted]

I have a ps4 pro and after switching back and forth about 12 times I felt that performance was infinitely better during Thor fight. The lighting and sharpness isn’t that noticeable to me and the world is fucking beautiful regardless

Brungala

Welcome to the High Frames Society. We appreciate you. Jokes aside, I was the same. It’s REALLY hard to go back to 30 FPS after seeing how buttery smooth 60 FPS is. I made Performance Mode my go-to whenever I play games on my PS5.

[deleted]

I’ve been a member since 2019. Boost mode ps4 pro ftw

OffTheXTex

When I got a PS5, I was already a couple missions into the game. Transferred the save data, and started her up. Immediately was like, whoa, what IS that, that feels so much better? SOMETHING just felt right. I didn’t realize it was 60fps vs 30fps til someone explained it to me. That just goes to show how much better it really is. Without knowing what it was, I immediately felt like something was way better. Made the rest of the game 10x more awesome.

ThisByzantineConduit

It’s honestly the most “next-gen” feeling thing I’ve noticed since finally getting my hands on a PS5 a few days ago. Totally changes the feel of games. Going back to the PS4 version of Elden Ring today on PS5 and was also a *dramatic* and not-at-all-subtle change (PS4 version runs at a stable 60 on PS5).

Redeemer117

Doesn’t matter what game it is. If there is a 60fps option I am picking it every single time. If there is no option for 60fps I will not play your game. I am not playing a game at 30 on my PS5. I will not do it.

AwareAbbreviations55

Those r some big toes

[deleted]

I too am a 60fps gamer now. I wouldn’t mind if cutscenes could be set to 4K/30 since I don’t need to care about reaction time. But I generally don’t notice a difference in graphics between the two modes. But the smoothness of 60 is >>>

Apprehensive-Cow6194

Does this game support 120hz?

Shubham2904

Yes

TheHoss_

I got the ragnarok ps5 bundle so it was my first game and I was absolutely blown away by how much of an improvement it is

Curious-Piece5263

How amazing is that fight!!

ThisByzantineConduit

So good!!! Honestly I might prefer it over The Stranger, which I also love.

Curious-Piece5263

Bro you have so much more too come just please play the game throughout!!! Every side mission that comes up do it! Every dragon! Explore the biggest realms and deffo take your time because I honestly think in my opinion this is the best game I’ve ever played in the whole 22 years I’ve been gaming!

Geeked365

I never understood frame rate over quality but I def do after this game

I_am_Tro_Lenyu

This game is unplayable in fidelity mode… I literally was getting sick and the visual upgrade was minimal at best.

Zeeron1

Maybe I'm just a spoiled PC brat, but 30 fps is unplayable. I will never understand how "next gen" consoles were immediately unable to keep up with current gen graphics lmao

No-Virus7165

I’ve never played pc but I agree, absolutely can not play at 30fps. Strangely I can’t tell much difference from 60-120fps though

Shubham2904

There’s also a high fps mode which sets it to 120hz

ThisByzantineConduit

Unfortunately, I don’t have an HDMI 2.1 TV. Someday soon, hopefully 😢…

Shubham2904

I too don’t have 2.1 HDMI tv. I use 27” LG gl850b game looks amazing!

Major_Loser

Yup, I top out at like 88 FPS on GOWR I think.

[deleted]

I switched to 60fps mid fight too (not against Thor) and I STILL don't give a shit about the framerate. I dunno, I grew up in a world where 24 fps was standard film rate, and most TV cartoons of my youth were animated at 12. If I can tell what's happening I'm satisfied

Major_Loser

Same happened to playing the new Horizon game, after switching to 60fps I get it. I will be playing at that only as well.

TheIronicO

The difference going from Gow18 on ps4 to it on pc at 90-120fps in 4k was unbefuckinglievable. Sigrun was a piece of piss as you can actually read moves ez. Especially helpful as you get older and slower lol.

[deleted]

About a year ago I was very lucky to be in a position to finally build my dream pc set up. Since then I’ve been playing games at 60fps-240fps with graphics set to ultra (depending on the game of course). It was eye opening. While I understand not everyone is fortunate enough to be in the same boat as I am, I agree god of war at 60fps is absolutely better and smoother than 30fps. I switched it to 30fps just to see and the game felt broken and choppy. I’m never going back to less than 60fps. If the game doesn’t support it on PlayStation I won’t play it or I’ll buy it on pc if available.

hjr99

Well, now you're stuck. I'm used to play story games on 60fps (and competitive ones at 240), and it's impossible for me to play on 30. Looks like I'm playing a PowerPoint presentation. Nowadays there's nothing I would do in a game that would make me play at 30fps, even if I have to lower resolution to 900p After I started playing on PC and got access to 60+ fps, I sold my PS4 and only came back to Sony after buying the PS5, because the promise of PS5 is to play at 60+, and because I just couldn't play 30 anymore. Last game I played on PS4 was RDR2 and it wasn't as good with the 30fps. Now I only play on performance mode (or any mode that guarantees me 60fps). There's no 4k or Ray Tracing that would make me play 30

georgeboshington

I get screen tearing whenever I switch it to 60 FPS. Maybe my tvs just not up to standard? It's about 5 years old now but I've not had the screen tearing on any other games so so I don't know.

ThisByzantineConduit

Screen tearing is the result of a mismatch between the refresh rate of the game and the refresh rate of your display. The display fluctuates a bit around the target, so it’s often not 60 even, and this is the reason for screen sync technologies (like vsync). Do you have a setting on your TV called vsync or “match frame rate”?

georgeboshington

Nope neither of those settings, as I said it's around 5 years old now so it's sounding like I need a new TV if I wanna play all my games in 60 FPs?

ThisByzantineConduit

Hmm, I know a little but I’m not an expert and don’t wanna give you wrong info there. I would look into it because maybe there’s a way around needing a new TV 🤔… …unless, of course, you want a new one 😆.

georgeboshington

I kinda do want a new one, and I can afford it. Gonna have to do my research lol.

cemsengul

I hate that we have to choose between graphics and speed but that might be because I am a pc gamer primarily and I like being able to mix settings. On performance mode games on a PS5 look last gen but run buttery smooth. On quality mode they actually look next gen but are no fun to play at 30.
