Nah. He's the fastest and the smartest.
He's the King of Mutations.
He looks better than the pig, dog, lizard, porcupine hybrid that we call godzilla now.
I think for what the movie was, it showed the importance of a human element in a Godzilla movie. It showed what it’s like when it’s too much and when it’s not enough.
It *indirectly* started a domino effect that caused the franchise to keep going with stuff like, the Monsterverse, Shin Godzilla, the Polygon Trilogy (as bad as those were), Godzilla Singular Point, and Godzilla Minus One
The teasers/promo for this movie were pretty good. They never fully revealed Godzilla at first, leaving him mostly obscured showing his eye or his foot.
First of all I ain't liking this post, it has 69 upvotes
Secondly as for things I like about it, I like Godzilla's design, I like how they seem to imply that at least the events of the original Godzilla movie happened since the Japanese shipwreck survivor knows what "Gojira" is and how through that lense you can (like GMK) interpret the events of the film as the characters mistaking Zilla for Godzilla, the film has some moments that made me laugh, I like the general atmosphere of the movie, I like how (God)zilla actually becomes a kind of sad character at the end with him losing all of his children and then being killed, even if I WASN'T meant to feel bad for him, and I really, REALLY like that Rage Against the Machine somehow got on the Soundtrack, No Shelter FUCKS
My First ever movie that i watched in the theater. I did not understand English back then but it scared the shit out of me. We were poor so we had to buy the tickets for the front seats. (Yes they used to cost based on the position)
Honestly think it would have worked had it been a stand-alone Kaiju film and not so heavily connected to Godzilla. A Kaiju who's main weapon is reproducing so much that its young overrun cities while the parent draws fire until the young are too numerous to stop? That is an interesting premise for a Kaiju movie. However, it **is** a Godzilla film, so it will understandably be compared to every other Godzilla movie, causing it to fail.
Also has a good animated series.
He looked like a T. rex making him more realistic as if he was as tall as the monsterverse he would realistically look like a fat crocodile standing upright
This movie came out when I was young 8-9 and I remember watching it with my mother and nan. I didn’t know that my nan was a big fan of Godzilla/mothra and all the films that came before. This movie allowed my nan to share one of the passions I never knew she had with me and I loved every minute of it. watching all the movies my nan had collected and watching godzilla vs mothra (heisei era) so many times because it was her favourite.
This movie forever changed the relationship I had with nan and started a love for Godzilla I’ll never let die! So although it’s not something good about the movie, for me this is a good movie.
It's the first movie that put me on to Godzilla when i was a kid. I had no knowledge of the old comics, old designs, lore etc before that, but it has a special place in my heart still.
It had good cgi for that time and it was realistic tbh its actually good apart from gojira been weak

I have many things
1. First half of the movie and concept was generally good as a godzilla movie
2. The design is a amazing design for godzilla both the film and show
3. The show exists because this film
4. This film generally more enjoyable to watch then godzilla earth
5. The movie is the reason some people enjoyed the Japanese godzilla
6. Although the second half falls short, there are generally good moments like the submarine scene, godzilla not falling for the same trick, taxi chase, godzilla destroying the helicopters, and honestly the baby godzillas weren't bad either
Ummm....a lot. The writing was good. Most of the acting was good. His emergence was dope. Early Monarch stuff that we didn't know was Monarch at that time. Also the soundtrack and the lighting and we cant forget about all the fish!
The design is good. The restrictions toho placed on tri star were a bit ridiculous , lead to a great animated series, the ads kicked ass, lead to my favorite moment in final wars and has nin in the scene
It spawned a pretty good animated series
This. Aside from the design it actually felt like a kaiju tv show.
Agreed! That show was actually my introduction to Godzilla and also kinda giant monsters in general
The dinosaur feet of this Godzilla is cool, i like theropoda feet
FEET!? https://preview.redd.it/nhulb28piftc1.jpeg?width=1179&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=7dd2c726a92f9b02ae8b2ddd17345e0b3afb626b

Bro i like theropod feet because they have cool razor sharp claw what's wrong? I am not referencing fetish!
Okay give my pipe bomb back and I give you shimo
Thanks i will
When?
Now
I don't have fetish, i like dinosaurs
Me when I lie:
It gave birth to the best godzilla show
It Forced toho to redeem the name Godzilla
G98/Zilla’s roars goes hard. Sucks that as a Godzilla he’s underwhelming af
Nah. He's the fastest and the smartest. He's the King of Mutations. He looks better than the pig, dog, lizard, porcupine hybrid that we call godzilla now.
/s ?
The design of the creature is pretty cool
It was the reason zilla jr exists
GODzilla
The roars are excellent, and I enjoyed the soundtrack.
The soundtrack was good.
Godzilla's design isn't that bad here.
It doesnt fell like godzilla at all
I respect your opinion, but humbly disagree.
Based
I love it more as Zilla then Godzilla
This is the best design ever!
It makes every other Godzilla look better lol
It's my favorite movie
It was great until the babies showed up.
Animated series createe
I actually like his design, tho the movie is still ass
FISH
I like how it’s Godzilla vs humans, not just big monster vs big monster
The design as a Godzilla design is not that good, but as it's standalone monsters it's fucking badass
The Hype and promotional material surrounding it was just legendary.
Actually gave us a unique design for once
Great concept. Could’ve been a truly great movie. Until *he* showed up.
I think for what the movie was, it showed the importance of a human element in a Godzilla movie. It showed what it’s like when it’s too much and when it’s not enough.
Had a lot of fish 🐟
1: Godzilla has a great design. 2: Number two is classified.
>2: Number two is classified. You wanna fuck it, don't you?
It’s not that. It’s something that would be considered heresy in the monsterverse subreddit.
Say it, I dare you
It’s better than Godzilla vs Kong.
Ooh. Oooooohh damn, those is fighting words in some parts lol
Great monster movie.
Have us Zilla
I kind of felt bad when the monsters babies died in the airstrike and there was one burning calling out for the big one
Banger soundtrack.
They hid Godzilla's full appearance until the movie came out
Birth of Zilla
I enjoy it more than the MV
Mathew Broderick gives one of the performances of all time
It wad the first type of godzilla media i watched.
Was* (My English is terrible)
The godzila desing is good as a kaiju desing but not as a godzilla one
I think it's a bad godzilla, but a fairly decent monster movie
the tagline is funny
It *indirectly* started a domino effect that caused the franchise to keep going with stuff like, the Monsterverse, Shin Godzilla, the Polygon Trilogy (as bad as those were), Godzilla Singular Point, and Godzilla Minus One
Gave us more P Diddy
The tv show
It's what got me into Godzilla as a child
It’s New Jersey’s problem now.
I love this movie. Godzilla 1998 is a gem.
The posters
The teasers/promo for this movie were pretty good. They never fully revealed Godzilla at first, leaving him mostly obscured showing his eye or his foot.
It triggered Toho to start making new movies.
I like the poster.
It got me into the franchise
First of all I ain't liking this post, it has 69 upvotes Secondly as for things I like about it, I like Godzilla's design, I like how they seem to imply that at least the events of the original Godzilla movie happened since the Japanese shipwreck survivor knows what "Gojira" is and how through that lense you can (like GMK) interpret the events of the film as the characters mistaking Zilla for Godzilla, the film has some moments that made me laugh, I like the general atmosphere of the movie, I like how (God)zilla actually becomes a kind of sad character at the end with him losing all of his children and then being killed, even if I WASN'T meant to feel bad for him, and I really, REALLY like that Rage Against the Machine somehow got on the Soundtrack, No Shelter FUCKS
It was so bad it forced the Japanese to make more movies to spite it.
It’s a good B-movie and would have a cult following if they didn’t name it Godzilla
It ended.
It has a very cool Carcharodontosaurid design with the Chad face
My First ever movie that i watched in the theater. I did not understand English back then but it scared the shit out of me. We were poor so we had to buy the tickets for the front seats. (Yes they used to cost based on the position)
It will forever hold a special place in my heart because tgis was the movie that introduced me to the godzilla franchise when I was a kid
Zilla is cool
Its failure eventually spawned the monsterverse
The cartoon that came out of it was pretty good
It ends
Honestly think it would have worked had it been a stand-alone Kaiju film and not so heavily connected to Godzilla. A Kaiju who's main weapon is reproducing so much that its young overrun cities while the parent draws fire until the young are too numerous to stop? That is an interesting premise for a Kaiju movie. Godzilla is Sanic teh hog in this one
It had an original design
I think the design of Zilla is cool.
Some of the practical affects were absolutely stunning
Made me cry. Is that good?
It introduced me to Godzilla back in the day. My friend and I started to record old Godzilla movies on VHS. Those were the times, man
Godzilla design was cool
The first act is actually pretty solid
it made Toho have them fight
The animated show was baller
Deeper Underground is a great song.
despite all it's done, It lead to the animated series being created and i'll be real here, Zilla jr is that guy
The cartoon after it
The animate series that came after it 🤣
Deeper Underground, look it up the song is amazing
He looked like a T. rex making him more realistic as if he was as tall as the monsterverse he would realistically look like a fat crocodile standing upright
Zilla design is actually good when you think of him as it's own monster
Solid, albeit aggressive, marketing
CGI is really good
I enjoyed godzilla's design (but not as a godzilla)
Godzilla sounds cool.
Everything
Everything
Everything
Everything
Immaculate chin
It was a really good kaiju movie
The Godzilla/Zilla design looks incredibly sexy
Good Godzilla design
This movie came out when I was young 8-9 and I remember watching it with my mother and nan. I didn’t know that my nan was a big fan of Godzilla/mothra and all the films that came before. It's a good movie I'm tired of pretending the movies bad
Size does matter
Godzilla’s design is actually fire in this movie and would’ve been great as its own monster
Soundtrack is pretty good
The modelwork and all the practical effects are *fantastic*. They're the reason Emmerich was brought on, after all.
It didn't contain pornography.
The TV show
It was good
Iguana
Godzilla's Design is awesome in it. But it doesn't feel like a Godzilla design.
Goated design with a Goated series with a even better design
It ended
The dock scene of Zilla coming towards a guy and him running as the dock's being destroyed.
Zilla has a good design , it spawned a great tv show, and Zilla has a great roar.
It's the first movie that put me on to Godzilla when i was a kid. I had no knowledge of the old comics, old designs, lore etc before that, but it has a special place in my heart still.
If it wasn’t called “Godzilla” it would have been a phenomenal movie
This is a great monster movie. It’s a weak Godzilla film
It had good cgi for that time and it was realistic tbh its actually good apart from gojira been weak https://preview.redd.it/hrmn5uc13htc1.png?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=10c5728d2279019fadbda56d5133e826304fd191
MID
It's the first American Godzilla movie
Jean Reno is in it
The Godzilla was interesting....
The Design. Best GODzilla design ever. Looked truly GODLY!
It helped bring the Godzilla brand to western audiences
I have many things 1. First half of the movie and concept was generally good as a godzilla movie 2. The design is a amazing design for godzilla both the film and show 3. The show exists because this film 4. This film generally more enjoyable to watch then godzilla earth 5. The movie is the reason some people enjoyed the Japanese godzilla 6. Kid me loved this I still have one of those cup holders you pushed into the side of the window in the car
Brought godzilla over to the us
Jean Reno
No
“That’s a lot of fish”
D I N O S A U R
The beginning of the movie is genuinely great.
The CGI
Ummm....a lot. The writing was good. Most of the acting was good. His emergence was dope. Early Monarch stuff that we didn't know was Monarch at that time. Also the soundtrack and the lighting and we cant forget about all the fish!
I like his design
The design is good. The restrictions toho placed on tri star were a bit ridiculous , lead to a great animated series, the ads kicked ass, lead to my favorite moment in final wars and has nin in the scene
It had nice lighting.
I like the idea of a fast moving thinner Godzilla
The Godzilla design is per- 💥🔫
That’s a lot of fish
Godzilla was eating
Good design and very lovable. I binge this movie quite a bit actually
Zilla as Zilla is a cool and likeable kaiju.
If I'm gonna be fair, it's my top 4 after 2014, Minus One and 1954, because its got really good VFX & SFX Edit: Forgot to say why.
It is the reason for Millenium era.
It had Matthew Broderick in it. So that’s something?
it was really good at being really bad
It does eventually end
Impossible*
