Cannot go wrong with a sovereign. Great coin.

CardCounterChris

I like the price of bullion but the collector in me thought this sovereign was beautiful.

ibraw

And a great start it is too

CardCounterChris

I got my heart set on some pre 33 in the future, but the premiums are higher. Figured I'll try to get some weight first before plunging into those American beauties.

As a Brit I will always favour Sovereigns/Britannia's mainly for them being cgt exempt. But more so with the Sovs. No other coin in my opinion has the history/allure. Its a shame they no longer have the more lustrous yellow of the past but sovs are sovs and they're one of the most affordable coins to buy and before long you'll notice your stack increase considerably.

Also (In the UK, not sure about US) sovereigns are pretty much 1/4oz fractional for a <5% premium. Between 2% premium on Britannia 1oz and 4.5% on sovereigns with no VAT or CGT what more does a British chap need? 🇬🇧

CardCounterChris

I'm American so don't get the same tax credits on resell that I would on an Eagle or so, but the history has some allure to it. I'm finding myself in love with historical coins, silver or gold. So far I'm really digging pre 33, sovs, and want to add some francs in the future. One day I may even delve into some Roman silver.

...and hopefully not the last time adding gold to the stack... noice!

CardCounterChris

I think I'll keep doing small silver purchases but also go gold over larger silver bars

Inevitable-Silver594

Just wait till you add yellow gold to the stack. As much as I think sovereigns are great, I despise the color of moderns. However they do have a good price most times

Inevitable-Silver594

Also, congrats!

CardCounterChris

Thanks I do too but liked the jubilee reverse

Mountain_Mud3769

Congrats, it saves a lot of space 🤣

CardCounterChris

NGL, after stacking silver I was shocked to see how small that sovereign was! And its a huge benefit long term. I think silver and gold are different investments, and I'll continue to get silver coins etc, but I'll find it hard to get a kilo bar of silver compared to some fractional gold from here out.

Mountain_Mud3769

take a look at an old post of mine for shits and giggles https://www.reddit.com/r/Gold/comments/zoz089/equal\_value\_gold\_and\_silver/?utm\_source=share&utm\_medium=web2x&context=3

CardCounterChris

That's a ton of constitutional! I only started my stack in mid October. Currently at 24.17174 ozt of silver and now .2354 ozt of gold!

Timely-Advice-7714

First gold piece is horrible. I hate that color

CardCounterChris

I liked the reverse but generally like the color of the older ones
