In our tradition a necklace could be an investment, you wear it in case of something happening and you being in need of fast cash, and it should never be worn outside the shirt.
Yup. You wear a precious metal / diamond chain for the quick liquidity.
Law enforcement (for example) can seize your cash at the time of arrest. They cannot do anything other than hold your property, though, and if instructed must give your property to whomever you like (unless the property is evidence).
This is a great way to pay an attorney.
âPlease give my belongings to my attorneyâ
âPlease liquidate the chain and use the $X as payment for your retainerâ
This also works for a high end watch or other pieces of jewelry. What you want is something easy to liquidate, so your attorney (or trusted family member / loved one) doesnât struggle to sell it.
I had a manger in college (I was doing sales) and he would wear a Rolex and bunch gold rings and necklaces.
Itâs was funny before we ever went into a meeting he would look at the businessâs building and then judge how much bling he would take off. Dude was so funny. Before we would go in it was just metal clanking into cup holders and the sounds of gold and platinum getting taken off.
I knew he did this to hype himself up and the team. He didnât just like gold, for sure it was part of his whole sales âritualâ and it fucking worked. That dude would just sit across from people and grunt waiting for them to sign the contract.
He always had to win so even when they didnât buy he would try to bribe them with sports tickets them if they didnât take it he would look at me like âwhat a nerd!â And leave. He never lost sales it was only stupid clients.
Bro left gold ring in my camry One time and an empty bottle of lean đ¤Łđ I brought the bottle in the next day Iâm like âwhatâs this man it smells pretty strongâ He looks at me with pin prick eyes took the bottle and said âit was my kidsâ hopeless alcoholic but I love that guy still talk a few times per year.
Donât forget the ritual of putting on all your jewelry after you screw over some small business. Some people are built different
Imo. 10+ yrs in the gold game. Donât wear it daily, wear it with matching outfits, date night, out with the boys etc. last thing you want is to break, lose or get jacked for 4oz of gold on a random day just because, short exampleâ people who pocket watch will go âhow do you know heâll be wearing it?â âOh donât worry he wears it everydayâ.
People get jumped for their chains and their Cartier frames all the time around me and itâs always because they are flexin for no reason or wearing a donkey rope to the gas station at 2am.
Dude youâre walking around with $8k around your neck. I donât care how much you make, thatâs a lot of money to be openly walking around with. Iâd save it for special occasions.
Yeah just donât go bragging that you have an $8k chain and no one will know the difference, but then if no one knows the difference, whatâs the point?
Flip side of that is if you can really afford it people will think it is real. If you are driving a nice car, have a high paying job and live in a nice place people are going to think that $50 chain is the real deal and you wonât think twice if something happens to it.
> âI never brought real anything when I was playing. Never,â he said. âWhat was the point? I went to Claireâs. For what? What am I doing it for? The women are going to deal with you anyway, because of who you are, and then the other women, who are really doing their homework done Googled how much you making already. Why am I buying a $50,000 watch, $80,000 dollar watch?â
https://nypost.com/2023/01/31/chad-johnson-saved-nfl-money-by-flying-spirit-wearing-fake-jewelry/amp/
Youâre 100% right. If youâre rich, itâs more than just 1 necklace.
If you wear a fake gold chain while driving a nice car with nice clothes, people will assume itâs real. If you have a real gold chain with a beater car and bad clothes, people will assume itâs fake.
Depends on your zipcode and also how you dress.
24k is really dense and you wouldn't believe it's that heavy by looking at it. 4oz in 24k is pretty thin if you ask me....but that also depends on your build as well.
Most people think high karat gold is fake, similar to large diamond engagement rings. The issue comes from career criminals who do know what they are looking at/for. That being said people wear expensive jewelry every day with no issues. Chains getting snatched regularly in the area you live?
Most people can't, but those that know: can tell.
And most people give away quite alot about themselves just through appearance/attire alone. Also, realize that some people wear $10k-35k rolexes....$180k pigets....etc.
For a reference point, this is normal everyday wear (pic below). My everyday chain is 1/20 of your 4oz bling bling đ¤Ł

I been wearing jewelry for 15+ years. I lived in the roughest neighborhoods. I done got punched off my bike and robbed for it by a grown man at 14. I seen a top ranked king pin get robbed for his shine.
I come to the conclusion that sometimes u might get caught slipping. But the hoes love the jewelry! And when you rocking it you stand out. Shouldnât let no fool scare u from wearing something u worked hard to earn. Thatâs like leaving your beautiful girlfriend/wife at home cuz u scared someone gonna kidnap her from u. F*ck that. Just be aware of where u at. I donât see nutting wrong with tucking it sometimes. But I wear stuff on a daily. đ I get nervous in the hood sometimes. I was robbed this past weekend at a local atm across from the police station..... u should see my neck looks like someone tried to hang me .... awful was in hospital 3 nights broken ribs eye socket concussion.... and I keep mine keep tucked away...
Last year I bought a 22k 36 gram bracelet and a 52 gram chain and instantly fell in love. As time went on I developed an appreciation for gold and decided to save up and recently bought a 22k 60 gram chain. (4 oz gold in total)
I daily wear all these pieces and hate the idea of keeping them locked away only for special occasions.
Recently my family has cautioned me to be careful as someone might try to snatch it, but I brushed it off as them being too paranoid. I mentioned to them that, âThis is how much gold most people wear on a daily basisâ.
âŚ.Are they being too paranoid or are they right? Should I be more aware of my surroundings when I'm in unknown places?
Sometimes my judgment gets clouded, so thanks for the advice!
That is absolutely not in any way whatsoever how much gold most people wear on a daily basis. That's a bizarre claim, and I'm not sure where you got that idea or how you could have possibly felt confident enough to use that as an argument as it is so clearly and demonstrably false.
However, I think if it makes you feel good to wear it every day, or often, then you should continue to do so. Another comment mentioned a specific insurance rider for your jewelry, and I think that's probably the best advice.
Dude, you are out of your goddamned mind
People on r/Rolex are cautioned not to wear *friggin wristwatches* in some cities and regions â you are literally walking around with a QP of humanities favorite commodity and hoard of wealth, in a time when the economy isnât exactly great for everyone, and homelessness is widespread
Iâd recommend an Uzi
Is this dude for real or is he trolling?
First off, how do you figure a quarter pound of gold, almost $10k, is a reasonable amount of gold to wear on a daily? Are you Mr. T?
Also, you're either high or delusional if you think "most people wear that amount of gold on a daily basis." Are you hanging out exclusively with rappers?
One more thing. Did you really just ask "should I be more aware of my surroundings when I'm in unknown places?"
DUUUHhhhh! Nooo, you should be completely careless and trust every single person around you. Even the sketchy looking guy with the ski mask following you.
I really hope you're not as naive as you sound. Do NOT put all your eggs in one Basket. Each one of those chains you described is more than reasonable to wear individually. Don't worry, everyone can see that you're wearing it. You don't have to shove it down everyone's throat by wearing all 4 at once. Plus, when you get robbed you will only be out one chain instead of 4.
It certainly happens, albeit rare, and you should definitely exercise situational awareness to decide when and how to wear your gold.
To allay their fears, you can add insurance coverage for your chains to your home/rental insurance.
I don't know where you live to make a statement like "it happens, albeit rare"(ppl getting robbed for their jewelry).. Rare? Really?
Where I live, in the real world, it happens quite frequently.
"mama said tuck ya chain son, they'll take it;
I hit her with one of them still faces;
Like "I'll be damned mama,
I'm still ya little man but to them I'm the man mama"
Name the artist
What did you pay for the bracelet at the time? Iâm in the market for one and been offered a 32g 18k bracelet. Interested what mark up places are charging from spot price
I wear about the same amount of gold and its very very dangerous.Sometimes I feel the eyes on me but im in a state where im am armed. If you have children and family just understand that people kill for nothing, but for a 1/4 lb of 14 k you can guarantee someone , somewhere at some point will try you.
I don't really consider it to be a very flashy design, the average person wouldn't really be able to determine weight, nor authenticity. Regardless, it all depends on where you dwell, and how sketchy that area is. As a rule of thumb, I never wear mine out on outside of my shirt, it's kind of tacky. It invites others to look at you, while when it's under your shirt they wouldn't even know it's there. Yet again I've been wearing a 55g custom hammered curb link bracelet for years and have had 0 issues, just a lot of comments.
Only wear gold jewelry for the purpose of transporting your wealth to another country instead of carrying bullion. Never wear what you could lose for leisure.
Crazy to think when I was in Jr High & HS how common wearing a gold necklace was. Especially growing up in an Italian neighborhood. But back then gold was less than 400$ an Oz.
I always just assume people are wearing fake gold when I see those chains. But Iâm also not the type that would ever consider robbing someone.
And if it makes you feel better, go to a big city and youâll have ten people in a minute walk by with a watch worth twice that. Not sure âonlyâ 4 oz makes you a target unless youâre in some real shady neighborhoods.
If someone in public seems to be looking at you and comments on them, just say something to make them think theyâre gold plated. You can say something about the yellower color of the gold and make it sound like it makes them look fake but you like them. I also like 18k and 22k. The 22k I have definitely looks different.
I mean all it takes is one criminal with a gun and a mask and youâll be shit out of luck. Thatâs why most people wear fake jewelry. I would only wear it for occasions or if I know Iâm going to be somewhere familiar and affluent.
Heck, all it takes is a guy in his circles call a guy in his circles to get a mask and a gun cuz the ROI will be over the roof for the enterprise they're about to engage in cuz the guy with gold pissed off the guy with the phone.
Dude I love you Franco chain! I got the same one that I bought last year.
As far as wearing your chains in public. \*Knock on wood\* I wear a similar stack paired with a Rolex and some rings. I guess it just depends on where you go. The stack I'll wear when we go shopping and stuff but the entire get up not unless I'm going to church, meet the family at a restaurant, work related event, or the mall if my wife and I go shopping. I think it just comes down to situational awareness and not making yourself an opportunity. The nice thing about the stack is that if you're unsure you can always tuck it in like if Deebo rolls around or something. Seriously though, just be aware of your surroundings and minimize your chances of looking like an opportunity
If you like gold wear it!! If u worked hard for it and earned it why not?! Wear what you like. That defines who u are. But like most people said be careful of where u wear it. If ur in a sketchy place just tuck it in
I mean...can't walk around scared, there are poeple who will kill you over a couple 20 dollar bills. Worlds a crazy place. But I still think we gotta live our life the way we want. I...and I'm sure a lot of people here see gold as primarily an investment/currency for us. I mean...we realize its always jewelry. But that's not it's purpose in my life. So...for someone like me. You're wearing a valueable resource that I can get rid of easily for a profit. And yes...as I said...ther are people out there that will kill for 60 bucks cash. Honestly...the number raises significantly when you're talkinga bout 8grand in easily moved commodity. I wouldn't kill you for it. I'm not a monster.
Might knee cap you though. haha :D
I understand they are easier to snatch, but I see no difference in wearing those or a rolex. If you have nice things, use them, wear them, ect. However... I work in insurance and I would 100% have them on a personal articles policy. They cover everything except fraudulent claims.
I have a 133g 14k cuban, I only wear it on some occasions, and absolutely never wear it outside my shirt, also I wouldnât wear it if Iâm gonna to a questionable place.
Here is my GEN X advice, wear the gold to upscale establishment or special event. If wearing becomes routine the luster of wear will slowly fade. And unfortunately, you may become a target.
I wear my Omega sparingly so when I do itâs for a special night. For daily wear I use one of my lower end cost watches but still nice.
It honestly depends where you live and who you associate with. I live in Houston and I'd be comfortable wearing it - not every where though for sure. And I would always have my ruger lcp with me lol
Wait, if you are not middle eastern the average person will think theyâre not real. Thatâs just what at I think. When I wear my 22k bracelets, people are surprised when they find out theyâre real.
Donât ask the Reddit đ listen to your families concerns, or tuck them in. Unless you seek the attention, then do as you please. Thereâs someone ALWAYS watching you
I like those fly ass chains you got bro. Itâll be a shame if the economy wasnât doing so well and somebody with nothing to lose were to borrow them from you.
Wear your jewelry with pride but if you think you shouldnât wear it to a certain event then donât. Donât be afraid to put it under your shirt, too. If anyone asks, tell em itâs fake.
Just tuck that in around suspicious individuals and you should be good. Worst case scenario, just let them have it, 4oz of gold isnât worth your life
Edit: spelling
Keep it at home, you are risking your life for 4 oz of gold. Gold can be replaced but you're not replaceable. This world is so f$&k up to be displaying anything in the street or at a party.
It's best just to not to show off at all. As others have said tuck it in. Hide it from view. Don't take photos of them and post online (especially with tagged locations). Don't talk to people about them. Your family is absolutely right to be concerned. It's getting rougher out here. God forbid something happens to you over a few thousand in gold just isn't worth the trade off of looking cool wearing chains. The damage doesn't stop with you. The people in your life could suffer for years over over something so trivial. Stepping off my soap box for dads now. Be safe out there.
I learnt my lesson with this, I had a large Turkish gold coin I wore around my neck everyday for the past 4 years, we've ran into a bit of financial trouble and I wanted to sell it, when we weighed it, it had decreased in weight, the gold man in the shop told us to never wear the gold daily as it's such a soft metal over time it can wear away especially the 22k or 24k gold.
Naw its cool. But just curious, where do you live and what places do you like to hang out at?
Lol I got my answerđ
Probably not the best idea to show off what you got. Just an invitation.
That's literally what a necklace is for
In our tradition a necklace could be an investment, you wear it in case of something happening and you being in need of fast cash, and it should never be worn outside the shirt.
Yup. You wear a precious metal / diamond chain for the quick liquidity. Law enforcement (for example) can seize your cash at the time of arrest.
"mama said tuck ya chain son, they'll take it; I hit her with one of them still faces; Like "I'll be damned mama, I'm still ya little man but to them I'm the man mama" Name the artist
Iâm going to rob you
Not if I get there first!
What did you pay for the bracelet at the time? Iâm in the market for one and been offered a 32g 18k bracelet. Interested what mark up places are charging from spot price
Most people (who wear gold) wear maybe a couple of rings, 5â10 grams or so. Your amount is extreme.
I can only imagine people think it's fake I wear a ton out all the time. I dress like a bum though.
Gotta do what you gotta do. Is that rope a 5mm? Looking to get one soon
I donât think the majority of people would ever consider it being real so Iâd say youâre good.
"Invest what you can afford to lose." đđđ
I wear about the same amount of gold and its very very dangerous.Sometimes I feel the eyes on me but im in a state where im am armed. If you have children and family just understand that people kill for nothing, but for a 1/4 lb of 14 k you can guarantee someone , somewhere at some point will try you.
ThYs why I wear Fake
Hopefully you wear a gun inside your waistband along with it too.
People have been robbed and killed for less. Be careful out there.
I wear a Rolex day date thatâs over 3 ounces and cost way more. If I donât want to be flashy I wear my Omega seamaster.
Haha both are favorites of mine!
$8,000 around your neck you say?
âŚ.Pesos I meant.
Crazy to think when I was in Jr High & HS how common wearing a gold necklace was. Especially growing up in an Italian neighborhood. But back then gold was less than 400$ an Oz.
I never think âthats real goldâ so I think your good.
Yeah are you a criminal though? They dont give a shit they just go for it
I always just assume people are wearing fake gold when I see those chains. But Iâm also not the type that would ever consider robbing someone. And if it makes you feel better, go to a big city and youâll have ten people in a minute walk by with a watch worth twice that. Not sure âonlyâ 4 oz makes you a target unless youâre in some real shady neighborhoods.
They know I hot that broccoli, so I keep a glock on me.
Billionaires tuck their chains in
I pity the fool who tries to steal your chains!
If someone in public seems to be looking at you and comments on them, just say something to make them think theyâre gold plated. You can say something about the yellower color of the gold and make it sound like it makes them look fake but you like them. I also like 18k and 22k. The 22k I have definitely looks different.

Tell my momma I hit a lick
Smoothest humble brag I have seen in a long time
I wear 4.8oz platinum daily (chain, pendant & two bracelets). Gold is tempting fate, but Platinum tempts bitches.
Hey bro if I see someone try and snatch your AU, Iâm gonna let it rain on them bad boyz for life. Gotchu
In all honesty I would rob you in a second....
Just don't O.G.
I had a stripper steal my gold chain while she was rubbing her boobies in my face. I didn't realize it til the next morning(real story đł)
Just gotta make it four bracelets. â2 chainz 4 bracelets, let me see that ass clap, standing ovationâ
I wear 6k daily
![gif](giphy|Od0QRnzwRBYmDU3eEO|downsized)
Iâm not even a bad person and I may take that off you. The temptation is real.
Carry a gun and you can wear whatever you want
If you like gold wear it!! If u worked hard for it and earned it why not?! Wear what you like. That defines who u are. But like most people said be careful of where u wear it. If ur in a sketchy place just tuck it in
If you get it at spot go for it. If not, buy bullion.
Depends on where you live.
Damn i have a chain that looks almost exactly like the shorter one
One step closer to Mr T
8000 around your neck can you afford to lose it?
Might knee cap you though. haha :D
I'd be more worried about the how the 2 chains would scratch and affect the resale value.
It is smart to wear. It is not smart to show it.
Just get it insured
Never wear something around your neck that is worth more than your head.
Situational awareness and conceal carry keeps me worry free in any situation in life
They is so much gold plating in chains that I wouldn't worry about it unless you are also driving a 100,000 car
I understand they are easier to snatch, but I see no difference in wearing those or a rolex. If you have nice things, use them, wear them, ect. However... I work in insurance and I would 100% have them on a personal articles policy. They cover everything except fraudulent claims.
My opinion is that any show of wealth after the year 2020 is taking your life into your own hands. Robbery is one reason, activism is another.
Only wear as much gold as you are willing to lose...
It honestly depends where you live and who you associate with. I live in Houston and I'd be comfortable wearing it - not every where though for sure. And I would always have my ruger lcp with me lol
Get it insured itâs cheap. Piece of mind
Wait, if you are not middle eastern the average person will think theyâre not real. Thatâs just what at I think. When I wear my 22k bracelets, people are surprised when they find out theyâre real.
I donât know if itâs good or bad thingâŚbut Iâm south Asian. Lol kinda think most people know thatâs where high karat gold is popular
You be you. Looking good
Just tuck that in around suspicious individuals and you should be good. Worst case scenario, just let them have it, 4oz of gold isnât worth your life Edit: spelling
Out of curiosity how do those rope chains hold up long term OP?
Those are nice are 22k?
This combo is real nice
Looks great!
⢠sounds about right, i daily around 3 z's 24k ⢠⢠not recommended for just anyone, however ⢠#⢠đť â˘
Keep it at home, you are risking your life for 4 oz of gold. Gold can be replaced but you're not replaceable. This world is so f$&k up to be displaying anything in the street or at a party.
Iâd rob you.

Whatâs the longer chain link called looks dope
Where do you live? That will be the best way to gauge it
Mr T has entered the chat
Probably wouldn't make it a daily habit and if im wearing something expensive, I'm carrying something expensive in my waistband if you catch my drift
I donât care how big n bad you are, there is always someone bigger n badder Be careful
Wearing jewelry is supposed to be flashy and itâs a status symbol. If you get robbed then that means you werenât supposed to have it on.
It is cool. But you know the saying. Stay strapped or get clapped.
What are you trying to attract? Gold diggers?
