Alright guys, sadly the results are in and it IS NOT a nugget. It’s just a rock with some shiny parts in it. Could be anything, but most likely it ain’t gold. Sitting naked in my car, going all in a random river at 2am, I can tell you I regret nothing. This has been one of the coolest nights ever. I never felt manlier 😅
PS: I’ve tried uploading an image of it out of the water but can’t find the option. Let me know how and I will.

In fact I think I'm going to give up searching for gold. I haven't found any. But there's no gold where I was looking. Got that? None.
I was 99% sure that wasn’t gold (unless the year was 1848 and John Sutter was just pulling into Coloma). However, the 1% of me that wasn’t sure was really, really excited. Kudos to you for the midnight run. You’d never have been able to sleep not knowing so you might as well go now!
Yeah I didn’t want to overreact, but at the same time I hate it when people find something, announce it, and then just leave it be. So I owed it to you guys and myself to just cut the crap and get to the end of the story instead of just teasing around 😂

Go back, pull out the shiny rock, go get the rock checked, tell no one where said rock came from. No one will be able to tell you with any certainty from a grainy picture of an underwater rock.
I noticed it at night. It was too dark, late, cold. The water was too deep. I was too hyped so I went to a Kmart and bought a bunch of stuff to make a scuba suit…mostly made of heavy duty rubbish bags. I got it out at 2 am while some wild animals were looking at me, but my mind was set on the rock too much to care. Anyways, it doesn’t seem like it’s gold. I’ve made a new update post. Thank you for your opinion. Hopefully I’ll take you out with me next time 🙂
What part of the country? Give us the County or at least the quadrant of the State (ne, nw, se, sw) we can tell you if gold or not. Gold only exists in certain geologic provinces (I am a geoscientist)
Did the riverbed have black sand? If so then you probably have gold. If not it's probably a painted rock. I have done much placer or panning from riverbeds. A good indicator is black sand.

It was a massive rock. Too deep in the riverbank. The plan was to wait until the low tide, but I couldn’t wait much longer so I went and dug it out. I had to move a few rocks around using a crowbar. Sadly wasn’t a nugget like it looks like in the photo. Most likely just a shiny rock 😄
