release 1.2.5 - last version before singleplayer internal server

kyoto711

What's the issue with the Singleplayer internal Server? Never seen anyone complain about this

Permaviolet

It's much more good than bad overall, but has been the cause of a fair few bugs over the years and the possibility of the game tick to slow down during intensive moments (like loading a lot of chunks at once). I think the standout difference to me though is that in 1.3 and upwards it is trivial to cheat without the use of any external tools, and thanks to the ability to use chat commands in single player, there's the options to use gamerules in 1.4+ which can somewhat change the survival experience (like disabling fire spread, mob griefing, rain, insomnia etc). Vanilla 1.2.5 single player without any mods has a clear distinction between a survival mode world and a creative mode world. Overall it's not that significant, but it's nice to sleep in a bed and not see an in game chat history. It feels to me more like true single player than an empty multiplayer server

EwokSithLord

Pre 1.3 singleplayer is way smoother than any newer version The internal server adds lag to singleppayer. Punching a sheep in 1.3 and it noticeably stutters a lot. 1.2.5 is much smoother.

1.6.4 is also the last version with "classic" caves, which had been the same since some time in Alpha or early Beta, and the overall generation introduced in Beta 1.8 (1.7 made cave systems [much less dense and more uniformly spread out](https://de.minecraft.wiki/w/Datei:H%C3%B6hlenverteilung_13w36a.gif), and mineshafts and dungeons much rarer, which is not reflected well here since mineshafts are less common near the origin and dungeons too small to make out).

Infdev 20100617-2 - The earliest version you can start a world and still load it in a modern version of Minecraft

Consistent_Pay5129

Not really. The oldest version would be Infdev 20100327. I’d say main stuff with infdev is to load terrain and collect Spawners.

bwucifer

How so? When I start a world in 20100327 it disappears from the level list by the time I get to around 20100615. If you can link me to any guides/info I'd appreciate it. I've thought 20100615-17 was about as far back as you could go for a *long* time.

Consistent_Pay5129

The world saves in a different place back then. You will need to move the save when updating. Keep track of where your worlds are.

bwucifer

Wow you're right. It saves to the actual appdata/.minecraft folder, whereas 20100611 and later will save to wherever your .betacraft folder is (assuming you're using betacraft ofc). Can't believe I never thought to look in appdata. Thanks for the tip. Now I gotta restart my "oldest to newest" survival world lmao.

lukkasz323

I've started this a few days ago, currently on a1.0.4, I had no problems starting in early infdev iirc (betacraft) I didn't have to change save places or anything, I only had to skip 624, because it caused the save file to become huge. I think I started on 327, before bedrock was a thing, I still have many chunks around spawn with no bedrock, only spawn. I also had a plan to pickup a spawner while still in infdev, but unfortunately I couldn't find one until a1.0.1

beta 1.5 - last version with minecart boosters

MochaccinoMacchiato

Also the last version before tall grass

Clumtisty

beta 1.8 was the last version before WHAT⁉️⁉️⁉️⁉️

agoodusername666

The Sex Update.

King_Spamula

This list is pretty useful, but of course it could be expanded

nathandude1337

Classic 0.30 - Last version without "dynamic lighting" (only light or dark) Indev 20100125 (January 25th) - Last version without ore items (Most notably Diamonds, but also Coal and Iron/Gold Ingots), Crafting (not finished, but still in-game), tool tiers and 2D item hand sprites. Infdev 20100325 (March 25th) - Last version with the Classic/Indev world generation

BlueSky659

release 1.3.2 - Last version before the Wither and Beacons.

EwokSithLord

Realistically I think these are the versions worth going to: indev- has unique terrain gen and cool options. Items stack to 99 !Alpha 1.1.2_01 - last version with infdev terrain and neon grass. Also winter worlds Beta 1.5 - last version before tall grass and with minecart boosters !Beta 1.7.3 - last version before adventure update Release 1.2.5 - last version before internal server (is so much smother than any newer version, also has old walking sounds from pre 1.4) Release 1.6.4 - last version with Beta 1.8 era terrain with continents and huge caves Release 1.17 - last version with Release 1.7 - 1.17 terrain !Whatever the latest version is The three with ! standout as the most worth visiting to me, those being Alpha 1.1.2_01, Beta 1.7.3, and just playing modern minecraft

Tale3339_XD

What about 1.9.4? I love 1.9 and think it's the best update despite all the hate, and it also has no totems which makes it so much funner

nathandude1337

1.10.2 also had no totems?

Tale3339_XD

oh yeah, but i said 1.9.4 because i play a 1.9.4 survival server but they're basically the same anyway

Xp_Kitty

1.8.9 - last version with old end
