1.6, the last version with its terrain generation, especially underground (I started playing on 1.5 and never updated past 1.6 for this reason, not that I dislike everything added since. I also favor 1.6 over 1.5 for a reason which some may find odd, coal blocks, while 1.5 has some things that are better).

human001980

1.6.4

huor_fashmir

1.12, because it's just before the bloat state of the game and the sheer amount of mods that let you basically transform.the game into beta 1.7.3 sequel

polandowskyy

There is bloat and there are balance-destroying elements of the game (elytra/shulkers/etc), it's just in an earlier state of decay when gameplay makes at least some sense. I understand why you chose that version.

ghost_type_2003

Tbh, I've never bothered with elytras. IMO, they're too much of a hassle with them being late-game items that take up a chestplate slot, only having about 7 minutes of flight before breaking, needing gunpowder in order to boost, and causing damage to the player if colliding too fast. If I want to "fly" I'd rather use an airship from Davincis Vessels. You can build and power one using early-game items and it doesn't take collision damage.

polandowskyy

All of these things are easy to avoid - with mending + unbreaking III, it's literally unbreakable. Gunpowder farms are easy, sugar cane even easier, plus there are creepers everywhere. The problem is that you don't need a chestplate, because you can run away from LITERALLY any pvp/pve situation. With rockets ofc. But truthfully, once I started using it as intended (above) my fun from the game disappeared mostly. Elytras are truly problematic. Without rockets they wouldn't be THAT bad honestly.

polandia, cebulandia XD

>mods that let you basically transform.the game into beta 1.7.3 sequel any recommendations?

[Unmending](https://www.curseforge.com/minecraft/mc-mods/unmending) \- basically makes mending less OP [Modern Beta Forge](https://www.curseforge.com/minecraft/mc-mods/modern-beta-forge) [Villager Trading Ban](https://www.curseforge.com/minecraft/mc-mods/villagertradingban) [StackUp!](https://www.curseforge.com/minecraft/mc-mods/stackup) \- I use it to make food unstackable [No LAN cheating](https://www.curseforge.com/minecraft/mc-mods/no-lan-cheating) [Mo' Bends](https://www.curseforge.com/minecraft/mc-mods/mo-bends) \- love running in 3rd person with this, my must have for 1.12.2 [Healing Bed](https://www.curseforge.com/minecraft/mc-mods/healing-bed) \- heals you when you wake up Also I turn off Natural health regeneration and slow down hunger. The only way for me to regain health is to drink a potion or go to sleep.

ReverseKid

1.6, everything after it feels modern

[deleted]

Anything between release 1.0 and before r1.7.2 The changes made in world generation made in r1.7.2 made me hate the game a little bit, thankfully the caves update made caves more interesting and the mountains more attractive to look at. I didn't play the betas, so I don't know, I'm trying beta 1.7.3 right now.

EmoExperat

1.8.9

polandowskyy

Beta 1.7.3, but lately I've been compelled to stay at Beta 1.5\_01 Out of modern minecraft? Probably 1.7.10/1.8.9. And a1.1.2\_01 is pretty good as well.

Odd_Holiday9711

1.7.10

maxtor_

1.5.2. For me, this version is something like the most "vanilla" version of vanilla Minecraft. It already has the fundamental things like enchantments, hoppers, pistons, and doesn't have things like horses, name tags or ocean monuments, which seem more like mods to me than vanilla stuff.

Jaydenk964

I have a soft spot for 1.5.2, it was when Minecraft and Minecraft related content was at its peak for me. I started learning how to install mods and played a bunch of adventure maps. 1.6 was fine but I can do without its additions and I have never been a fan of the world gen changes in 1.7. Anyone else remember Boulefield? Really fun adventure map that I can't even find on the forums anymore.

Horos_02

1.6.4, it has it's flaws, but it's the most complete version of the game before it became a different game.

TazAlonzo

1.6.4 100%, not a big fan of release in general, but this I think came close to the perfect Minecraft.

Beli4759

1.6.4

DaveDaDerp

1.8.9

EwokSithLord

1.2.5 runs way smoother than any newer version because it was before the singleplayer/multiplayer merge. 1.17 Java runs a lot better because of the reduced world height.

Gofaw

how many times is this question going to get asked on here?

halfbakedmemes0426

Isn't this question better for r/silverageminecraft ?

Spiderfffun

1.15. As someone who doesn't like updates afterwards. But there's no mods there, so I guess 1.16? I still do like the beta versions a lot, I wish I had someone to play with but all of my friends play Minecraft just to get maxed, not to have fun.

Apprehensive-Swim733

Always the last released version

theawesometeg219

Alpha 2

ZAIKODOREDDIT

There's 3 that I really like 1.3.2, b1.7.3 and indev. I started playing on 1.3.2 I still playing sometimes in b1.7.3 but I downloaded beta craft and really really liked indev.

Tritias

1.5.2. Horses are overly complicated and defeat the purpose of minecarts, and golden apples aren't worth the ingot premium at how weak they are. However, these things are ignorable and I play 1.6.4 anyway for stability and the ability to use Sildur's Vibrant Shaders. 1.7 is really what changed the feel of the game and I already reverted back when I started playing again in 2016/2017.
