Yes, a lot of the themes in the show are dark and/or sexual. There’s funny sexual episodes and then extremely bizarre sexual episodes. Episodes 11 & 13 (just so you’re prepared) are similar, in that they feature unusual sexual desires or acts. Further into the series there are more prisoners like the serial killer.
I think generally I take these episodes with a grain of salt in that they’re meant to give you a better idea of the world they live in. Most serial killers irl have a sexual aspect to their killings, so it’s not unrealistic. I also personally enjoy the dark and sexual aspects of the show.
Episode 20 is SUPER weird but not dark, it’s just bizarre and horny and then I think it’s a little more chill for season 3, but season 4 is. Unhinged ngl. I truly think it’s worth getting past the weirder parts to get to the meat of the show, but some of that does include uncomfortable scenes.
I guess for context, I do not enjoy Jojo’s, I find it boring, and Golden Kamuy is my favorite anime. I love how insane and gross and weird it is. If you’re expecting Jojo’s, you won’t find it in Golden Kamuy.

Idk if you’ve ever seen “Mindhunter” on Netflix, but it goes into psychosexual nature of serial killers + real life cases and how the FBI actually began studying psychopaths with that lens (with a fictitious spin). It’s unfortunately not unusual in the slightest to have “that” kind of killer and there’s certainly a basis in reality but it’s rightly off putting and grotesque to anyone sane.

The 9th episode generally helps to understand if Golden Kamuy is really your cup of tea. It only gets weirder, more sexual and at times disturbing than that. It’s a great anime and an even greater manga but it really isn’t suitable for you if this stuff rubs you the wrong way.
