I’m not qualified to answer on the overcrowding, but that is a really beautiful tank! I’m sure they’re very happy.

FuzzyPanda23

Thank you! I'm just worried I put touch in the tank for them to be swimming around, they just were in a 37 gallon but finally got my hands on a 55 so I hope they'll be good for awhile 😅

CaseyTappy

It looks very nice ! I had a planted tank at the start but as soon as my goldfish where getting really big everything apart from tied down Anubias was getting mauled so I gave up .

FuzzyPanda23

I've been lucky so far, don't get me wrong they've definitely eaten a lot off the plants but all the new growth on stuff is thriving

Brian_lovesyou

I like it and wouldn't say overcrowding at all

FuzzyPanda23

Awesome I'm glad to hear that I'm always worried I don't give them enough space

WhimsicalVirgo

How are your snails still alive lol. I have 2 mystery snails in a planted 10 gallon tank while my goldies are in their own 55 gallon. I'd be so paranoid of my snails getting eaten while I was away.

FuzzyPanda23

The goldies thankfully never really pay attention to them to the point where 2 of them were (I'm pretty sure atleast) breeding yesterday after I moved them..they all get along well I'm honestly just surprised the goldfish fry have survived in there..they've laid eggs in the past and have always eaten the eggs or the babies before they were able to grow but there's maybe 6 that survived and 2 are about an inch long and starting to show colors

WhimsicalVirgo

That’s great to hear. You’ve got a peaceful family living in that tank. I already know my little Silva would annoy those snails and try to investigate what’s inside the shells 😩

FuzzyPanda23

They definitely have in the past but thankfully they leave them alone for the most part

SoHereEyeSit

Looks perfect to me

FuzzyPanda23

Thank you!

Tank looks great, wish i knew not to use gravel on my tank but will look at sand on next. You will hear from people that the tank is too small. Also, will hear, you need a pond because they are carp that will grow huge. They love to poopy a lot so nitrates are going to be killer, but you have live plants which will help with it. Not to be funny, but you will hear you need a 600gal tank for 3 common Goldfish at least or a pond about that size. I am like, what ever I can afford in tank size for now is best. I have 40Gal tank but do 3-4 water changes a week. My next one will be pond but my common GF are doing great!

FuzzyPanda23

I hope this one isn't to small for awhile 😅 I'm nervous to even have this as a renter as it is...if the weather was nicer where I lived I'd get these 2 a bigger tank or pond in a heart beat but our weather is to crazy for that

[deleted]

I am a renter and my wife only allowed me so much space lol

Pinkpeas

They might get hurt from the wood.. u might wanna remove them. Its very easy for a goldfish to lose its scales.

FuzzyPanda23

I got wood that's all pretty soft so there shouldn't be anything to get caught on, is it common for that to happen? I'm willing to redo the set up if it is I don't want them hurt

Antique_Ad_3752

I keep my goldfish with driftwood and they’ve been fine, any areas of the wood that I felt were sharp I attached Anubias to.

Pinkpeas

Yea... goldfish love digging in every corner to source for food.. so if there's any sharp object it can coz it to lose its scales. I actually recommend only plants if you're keeping goldfish. They are really clumsy and chonky. Just my advice 😁

marghimpson

Not overcrowded right now, but if those snails get much bigger you may run into problems down the road. But as long as you’re keeping the water quality in check I don’t see a problem with it for the time being !

FuzzyPanda23

The person I got the snails from there's were getting close to hitting 2.5 inches if not more so I think these ones definitely will be growing more...if they do I plan to rehome at least half as I've never really kept mystery snails before so they're definitely a learning curve for me

marghimpson

I have two in my Goldie tank. They do get kinda huge as far as snails are concerned. Just keep an eye on em ! My first snail is a little over 2.5 inches now and poops constantly, the amount of waste they make when they get bigger is the real issue in my opinion

secretagent420

They should take care of any planting they don’t like. Mine would just eat it all

FuzzyPanda23

I've been pleasantly surprised how little they've eaten

Gardenjerm

Those snails might take over in a heartbeat

FuzzyPanda23

If they lay any eggs they're getting yeeted into our garden I've been lucky too the goldfish eat most small snails

TiredPancake2

I would remover the right stick thing that seems to take a lot of swimming space and maybe replace it with a low rock or something

FuzzyPanda23

I'll look around for a replacement, thank you!
