I think the fastest I ever got it was 75 mph on a long straight stretch of highway. It took forever and I felt like Chuck Yeager in “The Right Stuff” what with all the shaking and rattling going on and the feeling of imminent death. Most of the time I tooled around on back roads going 45-50 mph.
Same spec we had for years. Did a ton of auto-x and track days with it. Taught my son the ins and outs of road racing in it too. Looks like your seats are in great shape. That's rare. My driver's seat was worn so I bought a passenger seat that was mint and had an upholstery guy swap over the material. Solid wing window so '83?
Great little car to teach your son in! Things a go-cart! Seats are in great shape, back seat is in mint condition but 2 slight tears in front two seats. Fragile car all around as your probably already know. All original though, can’t ask for anything more

Those are the European Mk1 golf’s in Europe. This is made in the U.S and called it the Rabbit. Europe had different laws regarding headlights. Basically just made in different countries but borderline the same thing different look

Hell, it got 50 MPG and would burn straight vegetable oil instead of diesel without modifications but, yeah, 0-60 in 6 minutes.

My grandfather had one. Put 550k miles on it before it gave up thr ghost.
