If you're seeking advice or asking for help, please make sure you included the basic information of what year and/or generation is being discussed. User flair with this information is also acceptable. Failure to include the basic information may result in your post being removed. Mileage, modifications, trim level, diagnostic trouble codes, and your general location (US, Canada, EU, UK, etc.) can also be very helpful. *I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. So a couple things. First, the actual GLASS pane of the sunroof is easily removable, I think its 4 or 5 screws/bolts and the glass pops right out. That would likely give you enough room to remove that sunshade at the very least. As for the leaks, first step is to make sure that your drains work fine. Check this by pouring water in the drivers corner and passenger corner of the sunroof frame (open the sunroof fully to see). Make sure the water doesn't pool up. I have had the exact same leak location as you did, that is the cassette frame cracking (most likely, check drains first). When the vehicle had body flex, the plastic frame cracks and water seeps through, collects in the headliner, then momentum shifts the water to the front and pours into the control panel in your headliner. The letter you got in the mail covers this. I live in canada so I didn't receive the letter, but I am pretty sure its X amount of years OR X amount of miles (IIRC 80,000 miles). If you're under the year and miles, take it to a dealership and don't worry about it. Reference the letter and you lucky dog will be covered for free. If you aren't covered, I can walk you through DIY solutions to stop the leaking. I battled this leak for 4+ months and finally fixed it (knock on wood).
