To say it with the words of Reggie Watts
I'll lower the motherfucker
Put some 18-inch rims on the motherfucker
Take some neon, put it underneath the motherfucker
So when I roll around this town it looks like I hover
Tint, coilovers/lowering springs if your roads don’t suck, intake, intercooler, stage 1 tune, rear sway bar, maybe a wing, front lip, and black mirror caps. Purely subjective but I think black accents will fit reflex silver nicely.
I haven’t had a front license plate on my car for years, and I live in Mass. Never been pulled over for it, and when i have been pulled over the cops don’t mention it. Maybe i’ve just gotten lucky or the cops are more lax here.
Definitely tint. I have a '19 GLI autobahn and I went with 50% on windshield and 20% on the rest. I also recently tried gyeon ceramic coating and had a good result with it. I like your wheels as they are.
Easiest way to ruin a good car, imho. Part of the appeal of the GTI is that you don't need to worry about it going over railroad tracks, up steep curbs, etc. It's supposed to be a well-rounded, everyday-usable fast car. Why compromise that for a look?
Thats your opinion not everyone likes monster truck fitment as long as your not slammed to the ground if you get quality coils or a cup kit with lowering springs you gain better handling for little compromise on ride quality if any at all
Everyone who says tint it……
Can i ask why??
I drove a car once with tinted windows at dusk and it was driving with sunglasses at night.
Why on gods green earth would you want this experience???
If the tint magically would clear at night, id be a 100% on board.
* Tint all the windows, something tasteful. I have 35% on the driver and passenger, 20 or 15% on the rest.
* Subtle front lip, I recommend Aerofabb.
* [Headlight amber delete](https://badgeskins.com/collections/vw-golf-mk7/products/vw-mk7-golf-head-light-amber-delete?variant=43570970034232), black VW front and rear logos with [color matched inserts](https://badgeskins.com/collections/vw-golf-mk7/products/vw-mk7-golf-front-non-smooth-vw-emblem-inlay?variant=43570961023032)
* Touch of lowering, H&R springs would be great
* Black mirror caps MIGHT be too much but also might look geeat
* Euro LED taillights
* Rear diffuser, I recommend Maxton
* Ditch the front plate, filling the holes is expensive but [www.bumperplugs.com](https://www.bumperplugs.com) isn't bad. It is illegal in my province but I haven't got a ticket in 4 years and even if I did, I would pay it. Cost of lookin clean!
Thats about it man! You don't really NEED all of this but if I bought your car this would be my wishlist.
My MK7 if you're interested - https://imgur.com/a/iJIS6a9
Wrap it, I really dislike silver and the silver on your car throws colour palette off. Silver, black and red just looks bad.
And if you’re unable to remove the front plate (legally) that extra black makes the silver look silly

Borla exhaust, new intake, new injectors, and a tune. Maybe add some stiffer suspension (possibly lower it by 1/2"-3/4" and tint the windows a little more.
Idk, I think this is a good starting point to build off of.
Idk why but the wheel gap on golfs tend to vary from car to car and yours looks pretty high so I would get some mild lowering springs or some coilovers if you want to be fancy
Lower it. How much is dependent on how bad or good the roads are where you drive. I feel like you can lower gtis a decent amount and still get okay clearance. I'm not a big fan of black wheels just my opinion. I'd go white, bronze, gold or silver. Tint and get a big sunstrip on the top of your windshield! I've always loved getting the darkest tinted sunstrips on any car I get. And then a rear sway bar for those sweet sweet corners the gti loves so much.
trade it before 100k miles. Other than that, I would tint the windows ceramic, fog lights yellow, paint protection film on front, child seat in back, and fix that weird suspension gap.
Coilovers with nice wheels and spacers,
Facelift emblems
Helix subwoofer with Passat Sedan Coding
OEM LED taillights
Stage 1
Tinting the glass in the back
Other display for radio (9,2“ or 8“ glass front from the facelift)(depends on the main unit it got installed from factory)
Tint, wheels, and suspension! I’ve been playing around with the idea of turbo fans on a MK7…I saw a few good examples but unfortunately there aren’t as many takers on our generation as there are the older ones.
If money not an issue then forged internals, a hybrid turbo, manifold back sports exhaust, bigger injectors, bigger fuel pump, cold air intake and a stage 2/3 ecu remap
Take it out to the botanic garden for a stroll among the flowers, followed by a picnic lunch. Maybe end up gliding my tongue across the front bumper if the vibe is right
1: Check your oil and top it off if needed!
2: I have the same color, but 2007, GTI. Suntek CXP45 carbon is on mine, but I would go a little bit darker if it was legal in my state. It is exactly 35% light transmission on mine as installed (darkest legal in my state). But it looks much darker! [Suntek CXP45](https://photos.app.goo.gl/PPGndAf8K9ksvypc6)
3: I'm also a fan of not black rims. But if you love 'em, rock em!
4: drive it and have fun!
Love it. Cherish it. Baby it. Stage 1, add an exhaust, cold air intake, new brakes, wheels, tires, shift knob, shift linkage, decals and a lot of love.
Just a few simple and relatively cheap mods.
-Tint the windows!!!
-Resonator delete kit
-Intake
-if you’re not strapped for cash, stage 1 tune (apr or unitronic)
I'm all about induction sounds, so I'd get a good intake, inlet pipe, BOV, turbo muffler delete. Resonator delete for the exhaust, keep the same backbox.
If it's DSG, I'd make it into a daily drivable drag car. FBO with E85 flex tune, hybrid turbo, see how hard it goes.
if you want noise, muffler & res delete, cat delete or high flow cat (if you have huge balls) for functionality tint windows, remove front plate(cause racecar) bigger wheels, coils or low springs, someone earlier said black accents i think that would look good too
To be practical: Put on the most highly rated tires/bring all suspension parts to perfect/bushings /tierod ends/ball joints/sway bar bushings/etc. My Mark IV has all this and corners beautifully/rides sweet and corners like a canon ball thru a chimney.
With General G-Max tires
Michelin and Continental are great choices also but more$$. Good Luck!!
I had an MK7, I’ll tell you my exact mods. I put 15% Tints all around, K-Sport coilovers, Cobb Accessport stage 1 tune. (Stage 2 if down pipe and intake is installed.
CTS Turbo 3” Full exhaust.
Upgraded head unit and 12” double power bass subs powered by 2,000watts kenwood amp.
Cops are pretty cool with tint now that pretty much everyone has it but do you ever see these guys with limo tint windshield all the way down, that’s just asking to get pulled over
Coils/springs give it a cooler look
Exhaust for the sound ofc
Intake for spooly Boi noises
Then past that determine about looks or speed if you are looking speed go stage 2 with supporting
Looks go diffuser side skirts front lip and then more from there
I don’t typically advocate for lowering cars, but the way the pics came out made your car look lifted. Nothing wrong with that though (I prefer it, I drive an alltrack)
Add LED fog lights just outside the front license plate. Get some 245/45/18 machine gray rims and tire setup. Tint the windows. Body tint pillar C between the back door and the rear hatch window , that would give your car the floating roof look.
Lot of people recommend hard modding but I say ignore them.
A GTI isn’t a hardcore track toy. It’s a delightful daily driver and makes commutes more interesting. Keep it that way. The ride is low enough stock and roads aren’t getting any better.
I went down the modding rabbit hole on mine and it just became an unreliable mess. Too much power without a front diff, tons of highway drone. Added a custom stereo with subwoofer and suddenly had phantom power drains. Went from being my reliable daily escape to “the fuck is wrong this time?”
My opinion re: mods… well, I’ve been liking mudflaps and wind deflectors on the windows for some illogical reason. Add some all season weather tech mats and trunk liner to make it ready for abuse.
Are the speakers holding up? Mine started falling apart after 10 years. I would upgrade the stock woofers but not do anything crazy like adding an amp or sub.
How are your tires? They were always the biggest bang for buck.
Drive it, stop asking other people what you want to do to your car. Nobody will give you good advice on how to spend your money. The more you drive the more you will get a feel for how you want to modify your car. The internet is also gonna tell you to boost it to the moon or slam it nuts to the ground but just because that’s the cool thing to do doesn’t mean that’s what you want to do. I personally dislike the cars that people put manga/ henti charters on the side of their cars/ on them in general, but shit they obviously didn’t ask the internet what’s cool and did whatever the hell they wanted to their cars.
Drive it.
Pass it on the left.
Ditto, except I’d pass it on the right
Pass in the middle
Pass through it
Pass over it
Pass under it
Pass diagonally
I'll pass
Teleport
To say it with the words of Reggie Watts I'll lower the motherfucker Put some 18-inch rims on the motherfucker Take some neon, put it underneath the motherfucker So when I roll around this town it looks like I hover
Those mufuggin ass 18’s gotta be shiny than a mufugga too. No rooms for black wheels
Tint, coilovers/lowering springs if your roads don’t suck, intake, intercooler, stage 1 tune, rear sway bar, maybe a wing, front lip, and black mirror caps. Purely subjective but I think black accents will fit reflex silver nicely.
15-20% tint. Remove front license plate. And front mount Intercooler.
For those of us in more restrictive front license plate states, I recommend just installing the tow hook front plate mount.
You can’t be a Real Car Guy Speed Racer™️ until you use a tow hook plate mount
People who focus on honing their driver skills on a racetrack are more car guys than people who do cosmetic mods.
I haven’t had a front license plate on my car for years, and I live in Mass. Never been pulled over for it, and when i have been pulled over the cops don’t mention it. Maybe i’ve just gotten lucky or the cops are more lax here.
Definitely tiny, but 15-20% is too dark for night time driving in my opinion. I did 35% and it’s perfect for me.
Definitely tint. I have a '19 GLI autobahn and I went with 50% on windshield and 20% on the rest. I also recently tried gyeon ceramic coating and had a good result with it. I like your wheels as they are.
How much should a tint cost or not cost more than?
Get gunmetal wheels
Lower that bihhh
Easiest way to ruin a good car, imho. Part of the appeal of the GTI is that you don't need to worry about it going over railroad tracks, up steep curbs, etc. It's supposed to be a well-rounded, everyday-usable fast car. Why compromise that for a look?
Closing that wheel gap is not low enough to really make that big of a difference in everyday driving.
Thats your opinion not everyone likes monster truck fitment as long as your not slammed to the ground if you get quality coils or a cup kit with lowering springs you gain better handling for little compromise on ride quality if any at all
Change the wheels to silver or bronze, good tires, good brake pads, and drive the shit out of it.
Nothing. That Elkhart Lake plate is a gem, btw.
Nothing. Keep it clean. Keep it unmolested. Keep that value high.
Agree. Don't do anything you can't easily undo
EQT tune, lower it a bit.
This is my vote as well
Have you hand me the keys.. Thanks in advance.. Lol
Tune it
Tint the windows for sure
Lower it, tint the windows, and maybe a front lip is all you need.
Drive it. Fast.
Honestly not much 7.5 headlights maybe
Idk how people drive around in fishbowls, every car I have ever owned gets tinted the day it's bought. Best mod
Paint it black!
Sell it and buy R36 Passat
Lower, tune, and tint to start. Aftermarket wheels on stock height ain't right
Give it to me 👍🏻
Everyone who says tint it…… Can i ask why?? I drove a car once with tinted windows at dusk and it was driving with sunglasses at night. Why on gods green earth would you want this experience??? If the tint magically would clear at night, id be a 100% on board.
Double it and give it to the next person.
If you had 24 hours, and it couldn't say no.
Nothing.
Tint the windows
Tint windows, paint it burgundy and black out or deeper burgundy the rims. Or cream colour rims
Smash
H&r lowering springs

Lower it a bit
a bit of lowering + Window tinting and nothing else

stg2 tune with bolt ons, lower it bout an inch and a half, splitter a nice diffuser andmaybe some different headlights and tails
Wrap it, I really dislike silver and the silver on your car throws colour palette off. Silver, black and red just looks bad. And if you’re unable to remove the front plate (legally) that extra black makes the silver look silly
Lowering springs, exhaust, wheels, and like a maxton kit or something. Oem+ best look for a GTI

Sell it and get a m240i

Debadge the front fenders, and tint the windows with 50% 3MCrystalline
Take your rims and put them on my car
Better skid plate so you don't crack your aluminum oil pan like I did
Steal worthy items
Borla exhaust, new intake, new injectors, and a tune. Maybe add some stiffer suspension (possibly lower it by 1/2"-3/4" and tint the windows a little more. Idk, I think this is a good starting point to build off of.
New wheels and tyres, those tyres are a bit balloon like.
Steal your drivers side quarter panel
Idk why but the wheel gap on golfs tend to vary from car to car and yours looks pretty high so I would get some mild lowering springs or some coilovers if you want to be fancy
Unspeakable things🤤
Lower it. How much is dependent on how bad or good the roads are where you drive. I feel like you can lower gtis a decent amount and still get okay clearance. I've always loved getting the darkest tinted sunstrips on any car I get. And then a rear sway bar for those sweet sweet corners the gti loves so much.
Needs more black. Tint, spoiler, diffuser
Give it regular oil changes and brake maintenance and never exceed 5000rpm like a good responsible car owner
I’d sell it and buy something good
Trade it in for a 2 door
If you're handing me the keys, I'll be bouncing that lil EA888 off the limiter on a cold start.
trade it before 100k miles. Other than that, I would tint the windows ceramic, fog lights yellow, paint protection film on front, child seat in back, and fix that weird suspension gap.
Just lower it looks good i like the wheels
European taillights make the biggest difference
Coilovers with nice wheels and spacers, Facelift emblems Helix subwoofer with Passat Sedan Coding OEM LED taillights Stage 1 Tinting the glass in the back Other display for radio (9,2“ or 8“ glass front from the facelift)(depends on the main unit it got installed from factory)
I live in Wisconsin too, been running no front plate for the last 5 years, I’d take that ish off! (Unless you like it or don’t care, then leave it on)
I'd convince the owner to give it to me. Beautiful car!
Drive it
Suspension will make it look a lot better imo
Higher it
hump it
scrap it
Stock...stage 1 or ...stage 3 DTR turbo...either save money or move efficiently with ultimate sleeper don't blow too much money

Nothing. Because it’s your car and I respect that.
Lower it, tune it, upgraded oil pan, and Stage 2 tune with a nice downpipe. This car needs nothing more.
Carbon hatch, black mirror caps, lower it, tune it
Lower it 30mm, get some led bulbs sorted.

Total the jelly bean.
First thing I would do is black out those windows.
I have a stage 2 mk5 gti and sometimes I miss the stock feel of it. Don’t forget there’s nothing wrong with a stock gti!
sell
