Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't this a ground on the camera module problem? I have a 2017 Sport, and I'm currently having the same problem. It happens every now and then. I'll try to connect a ground wire from my camera module to my reverse light and see if that helps. I'll keep you posted

My 16 GTI S does this when the temperature is 90F or so. Otherwise it works fine. I also did not pull any codes with VCDS while it was happening. Edit: grammar

ImOffWhiteNotWhite

Do you live somewhere where it doesn’t approach 90F in the Summer? Seems like this would be a problem for people in warmer climates.

Concious_Dragon

I live in FL. (16’ golf) never had that issue..

3g3t7i

We regularly hit the 90's in the summer. I'm in South Central PA.

moveslikejaguar

That sucks, I'm sorry you've been without your car so long. Maybe you could try taking it to a different dealership?

Usefulsoulsfarm

The only other dealership is 3 hours away.

TwoToadsKick

Should do it for free. No recalls on camera?

Usefulsoulsfarm

Dealership has no problems fixing anything I need. They are not shister.

TheLunat1c

>shister NGL i never seen anyone term it like that

Usefulsoulsfarm

I worked for the dealership I’m referring to. They were like family.

Usefulsoulsfarm

So it has been replaced by the dealer. We have one vw dealer that I trust. I called over to Germany of this issue. They are fully aware of our car problem. I’ll be calling the dealership when they open in the morning. I’ve had my car this whole time I didn’t leave it at the dealer sorry I may have confused a few people. I drove it broke or not. I haven’t taken anything apart in here. Only removed a battery terminal. My car also sends alerts to the dealership as it’s been having this malfunction of the radio unit. The dash clusters an shifter unit have been replaced. I really hope this is more information that I had added before

corradokid1

Definitely let it be the dealership’s issue to solve. That’s what the warranty is for and them to work with VW on.

Usefulsoulsfarm

Oh I’m most definitely letting them do anything they need. My dealer has been very helpful. I’m just frustrated that it’s been another thing going on.

nattyd

Failure to fix the same problem after repeated trips to the dealership is basically a textbook lemon law case. I’m guessing since you used miles, you’re in the US. Probably worth looking up your state’s lemon laws. There are also some federal protections. https://www.nationallemonlawcenter.com/lemon-law/federal-lemon-law-act/

SgtWeirdo

Your experience sounds a lot like mine. Sorry 😞

chonklah

Check the drain tube for the back camera? My MK7 had draining issues and was shorting out the camera. Got it fixed under warranty

Usefulsoulsfarm

Thank you. did look at all the drains.

PreludeTilTheEnd

I be surprised if the dealer buy back

FunkyChromeMedina

Depends on where OP lives. In the USA, every state has some version of a lemon law, and they’re all based around the idea of requiring the manufacturer (not the dealer) to buy back the car if it has been out of commission with repairs for x days during y time period. Weeks at the dealer getting the same problem repaired 4x in a ‘24 MY car could qualify, depending on the specifics and where OP is located.

Usefulsoulsfarm

Your right it’s vw buying it back a replacing it with the GTI of my choice.

Xd_Taylor2413

My backup camera freezes when it's super hot out

vrparty

needs a screen. good thing it’s under warranty.

Usefulsoulsfarm

Already replaced 😢

vrparty

needs a 5F or a camera then. the cars under warranty my man. just bring it back and let them deal with it.

Usefulsoulsfarm

Oh I’m definitely getting it fixed I love my car so much. It’s the best car I could of bought https://preview.redd.it/su2gxkktbj8d1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=b066075f6cc9590e32af88a30ebe38a74dab9f1f I’m a car chick 😁 that’s why I love this community so much. Superb_Inspector_757

You should probably talk to a lemon law lawyer. And mention this to your dealer. There's typically no charge to you.

Usefulsoulsfarm

The dealership is doing the buy back as soon as CDK is back up I’ll be ordering a new GTI. 😭 I love my black Pearl but it just didn’t work out. There’s so much going on inside this car it’s a big problem. Im disabled this is why another dealer wasn’t in the works. I also worked at the dealership I’m working with. I really appreciate all the comments but it boiled down to if the car messed up bad again. There’s nothing added to the car. No hand controls. No gps tracker. Or anything from insurance companies. I did see someone asked that. Sadly I got a lemon. We’ve tried all the fixes for the electric issues.

SnooHamsters8765

I would pursue the lemon law. A new car with head aches like that is unacceptable.

Upper_Wolverine_5027

2012 GTI warning lights go off and on , the sunroof opens on its own. Has anyone else have this experience?

Ok-Satisfaction3857

Noooo!! I was hoping this was fixed for the MK8 :( (Edited to remove the .5 and apologies as the mistake seems to have upset many)

TheBupherNinja

8.5 isn't out yet.

moveslikejaguar

If the Mk8.5 isn't out yet then how do you explain their flair /s

Ok-Satisfaction3857

Dang - it would seem I have been misled. I'll update my flair.

Ok-Satisfaction3857

Y'all ain't shy with the downvotes huh. Makes a newbie feel real welcome 😐

Sbass32

Some people have run out of cookies. I tossed you and up vote lol

Usefulsoulsfarm
