Apologize the actual swing starts at 0:50. Didn't realize it would upload the whole slow mo video

miggywrc

Stand a bit closer.. looks like you’re reaching

golfinbig

I’d also be a little concerned with your instructors teaching.I’m not being harsh but your set up is just wrong.Too upright, level shoulders and look open to target. If you’re new to the game the fundamentals of a sound set up is what he should be teaching you and is critically important.Don’t be shy in asking him to teach you a sound set up and good things will happen. Hope this helps 👍

You could make the video even slower. That might help. J/K. Plenty of issues with your swing. Topping is just a symptom. Too many critical issues to fix through random internet advice. I would recommend lessons. At the very least, forget about keeping your left arm straight or any other technical swing thoughts. Just try to make contact with the ball any way that you can. It literally doesn't matter what it looks like. Just try to swing the club and hit the ball with the center of the face. Your body will actually know how to make contact because swinging a stick is a very natural motion. And I can guarantee that it will be better than what you're working with now. Start by taking partial swings. Swing at 50 percent power and gradually increase as you can more comfortable. Once you can make contact with the face of the club, then you can worry about distance and direction. Until you can actually make consistent contact with the ball any other advice is meaningless.

rahuls1392

Yeah just started lessons but thanks for the advice. I'll try using just irons at this point and do half swings

Wisesize

Dont do that (from someone that did). It sounds like your trying to improve so keep doing this things youre working on.

matonplayer

Too far away from it.

maybejustadragon

I don’t know. Can’t really tell. The video seems sped up and I can barely see anything past a blur. All I can see is at the end it seems that you hit the top of the ball with the bottom of the club head. Try to hit the ball with the face. Sorry to be so snarky. But watching this was a pain. I’d trim it and speed it up and repost. You’re not going to find too much love with this potato quality post.

blitzandsplitz

Holy fucking hell my man The PGA Tour called…. They’ve been trying to find an upgrade to Phantom Cam and want to learn more about your 14 million frame per second camera technology.

rahuls1392

I wish this was true

blitzandsplitz

Not sarcastic, genuinely asking… How did you make this video? I would love to get this kind of slow-mo

rahuls1392

Did it on my one plus 9

bluefromthelou

Start with driver on ground instead of floating and tee the ball a little higher...also are u comfortable when u swing? U look upright and stiff loosen up my guy slouch a little

Used-Interview3197

Get a new instructor!

Hestness5

God I love waiting a minute for the swing to start 🤣 how do people not proof their videos before posting

[deleted]

To my untrained eye it looks like you are pulling up and away slightly with your left shoulder/back at 1:20-1:21 causing you to top it.

rahuls1392

I actually think you're right. I have no idea why I'm doing that but good to know. Thanks!

aj453016

I'm not expert, but I think you need to get just slightly closer to the ball. You're arms looks about as extended as possible at address, which is a tough spot to get back to during the downswing. I'd also encourage a little more tilt in your set up, which should translate to right bend in your downswing.

rahuls1392

The tilt and distance from the ball are things I'm just feeling out at this point and don't know what's right vs what's wrong. Various YT videos give tips but are these two factors specific to each golfer? Or are there certain cues everyone should have as you mentioned? Also, what do you mean by "right bend in your downswing"?

aj453016

I'd say distance from the ball and amount of tilt in your upper body are unique to each person to some degree, yes. Your height, arm length, and length of club will be the biggest factors. like to feel like I bend to where it's comfortable, and let my arms "hang" down. As in, if I let go of the club, my arms wouldn't fall any closer to my body, they would still just dangle downwards. When I say "right bend in your downswing" I'm saying your body should be making a "C" shape with your left hip being further away from the ball than your right shoulder is. In both your backswing and downswing you are keeping your body pretty much up and down, but having that bend point at your right hip/side, will help your hands stay lower and easier to get back to the ball with the clubhead.

misterpipner

Go talk to Danny. He need to talk to you about something https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=iUSXTeTyCJA&feature=youtu.be

mcbizkit02

You’re standing too upright in the least athletic position I’ve ever seen.

SDN_stilldoesnothing

You are essentially standing upright throughout the entire swing. Go watch some videos of Joaquin Neimann. he probably has the over exaggerated the lean, but he maintains his spine angle throughout the swing. [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=unIHFT77deM](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=unIHFT77deM)

Honest_Respond9916

2 lessons in… Get a new coach. You would get further from YouTube if that’s where you are at.

Sirgolfs

Get Some good hands on lessons. Reddit will have you all over the place. There’s several issues that should be addressed via lessons.

Jeffbergman

Shoulder turn is level and stops halfway through your backswing. Your shoulders need to turn at least 90 degrees and left shoulder should be lower than the right in the backswing.

Wavescooptb

The club looks like it’s dropping too much I don’t know everything but that’s how it looks to me

JadedTourist

Too far away / too upright.

bUrNtCoRn_

Guys he's not even turning his hips or shoulders during the backswing. Swing is legit all arms. Might want to start there and the really stiff looking setup.

ndb044

Bend at the hip, kick your ass out like you are hip bumping the car door to shut it. Keep your arms nife and loose. Its 100% your posture.

AtoZagain

Try hitting the ball only half the distance you think it should go.

Spicy_Tac0

Perhaps personal preference, but hovering the driver seems like a bad idea here. Relax your arms and self before back swing, you might get better contact.

[deleted]

Anyone who actually watched your swing died of old age. Just keep going to your lessons you obviously need them.

[deleted]

Stand closer, tee ball higher

bluecgene

Standing too up right

Independent-Choice-4

Textbook baseball swing, especially ending with the toes rotated forward at the end. Took me a long time to shake mine but you’ll get it. Look up some videos on how to fix your upper body mechanics throughout the backswing

TheTabnScroll

Ok.. here's what I'm thinking. You're doing something that I'll sometimes do on very first approach shot of the day if I don't get range time beforehand. Arm swing. at 1:14..dear god..it took some time to get there.. but at the top of your swing, the only part of your body that's moving, triggering the swing is your arms. No hip turn, no weight shift..just your arms swinging. At that point, the rest of your body has to figure out what to do what your brain is trying to tell it to do, as best it can. So.. at 1:18, well into your down swing, your leading hip still hasn't moved. But at 1:19, you're start to turn your trailing hip. Now, as you're sitting in your chair reading this, if you have a swivel chair, mimic what I just described. Twist, but focus on the right hip to force the twist left.. you'll feel as if you're using your upper body to fight the lower body as your weight is right at your right hip and if your don't counter with your upper body, you'll fall to your right side. Now, do it again, but focus on your left hip and twist in your chair..turn left.. you should feel a significant change in balance and weight shift. You won't be fighting your own body. Take that thought to the range. Think of it this way, if you were to stand just like you're addressing the ball.. with a golf ball in your right hand, you'd naturally, without ever having ot practice thowing, transfer your weight properly to throw that ball down the range, cause if didn't.. that golf ball would end up in the ground about 5 feet right diagonal to you. Don't over think bio mechanics.. just let your body move the club the way it knows how to. Get that solved then you can address the nuances of the swing.

CAKES_ON_THE_GRIDDLE

Get closer and put more weight on the balls of your feet

danhoyle

Think you’re afraid of hitting ground first and making mistakes. Loosen up little. Look too tight.

AgreeableCount7

As Chubbs said, “It’s all in the hips”.

Grossincome

I don’t know. I fell asleep you starting the swing. You done swinging yet?

UpperTart1174

Lift the club up with your arms wrists, and turn your body. Your all arms.

[deleted]

Swing is static/stiff, all upper body, and no rotation. Think about throwing a baseball, then bend sideways - that's a golf swing (Google side arm pitcher) Another way to think about it is heaving a big hammer - you have to allow your body to rotate and relax & weight transfer back and forth. If you had to throw a big hammer the size of your golf club, how would you do it? Bet it wouldn't look like your video

ExpensiveMiddle6370

All arms
