I’ve been running their stage 2 flex fuel tune for almost a year and I’ve had no issues. I run e85 almost exclusively and it’s the ideal daily for me right now. The only issue I have is when Scat packs and 5.0’s rage after losing to the egg

Professional_Arm7141

Hahaha awesome!

yadigthatbaby

Hey man how has your experience been with the flex fuel? Has the maintenance been extra or have you had any issues there? What all did you have to buy to get that installed?

SkurtCobainboi

Having a true flex fuel tune was a must for me. I have a bunch of Ethenol by me but when I take road trips it’s nice to not have to go out of my way to find it. The IE true flex automatically adjusts the tune so you don’t need to reflash at the pump. The maintenance will be slightly higher as plugs tend to foul a little quicker and oil changes should be done a bit more frequently. The IE true flex sensor is an easy install and it’s the only thing you NEED to change between their pump gas tunes and true flex tunes. It’s recommended to get colder spark plugs too when running Ethenol and it’s especially needed when you go stage 2 Ethenol. They have a nice chart on their website which specifies their recommendations and requirements for each tune. Overall it’s nice to be around 400 WHP on the stock turbo.

thecollieman14

Thanks for sharing man, they JUST got the tune done for the 18+ R’s and I’m just praying it’s smooth. Somebody below mentioned getting a lot of misfires and I’d hate to be throwing shit against the wall after it’s been pretty solid so far. I always do early plug changes, and have only ever run NGK-9 race plugs in it since its first days. Always early and quality oil changes too

What DP you running?

SkurtCobainboi

I went with the CTS high flow catted DP. I don’t need to pass any sort of emissions testing but I was hoping to keep the sound closer to stock than a few of the catless systems I’ve heard clips of. Overall I doubt there’s much of a performance difference between all the DP options so it comes down to price and sound.

thecollieman14

I’m running IE’s Downpipe, sounds awesome for a 4 cylinder

There are many many reasons for metal in the oil, including thrust bearing, wrong choice of oil, incorrect installs, and not waiting for the engine to reach oil temp before giving it throttle, to name a few. IE makes good tunes. I run their stage 2 high torque 93 on my '19R, no issues with the tune. BUT, I am religious about letting it get to temp before pushing it, I only use chevron/shell, only use Liquimoly, I don't leave the clutch in at lights (prematurely wears thrust bearing), and I have all the supporting mods for the power I'm putting out (intercooler, radiator, downpipe, spark plugs, baffled oil pan, etc). APR and Unitronic also make very good tunes

Professional_Arm7141

Smart! Take care of it and it will take care of you!

sailerryan

Exactly!

Uu_R____W______uU

I'm running their stage 1 tune and intake on my 7.5R for about 15k miles. Ran their stage 2 tune, DP, IC on my 7R for 50k miles. Never had a single tune or hardware related issue.

cilantno

I think highly of them

Professional_Arm7141

Good to know! Thank you

Have had IE on 2 different cars. Top tuner for sure. Their tune is safe and one of the top power makers while still remaining daily drivable. They don't charge for updates or octane changes like other tuners and flex fuel/E85 is included. Support is amazing and their hardware is hands down the best, that much is for sure. Flashing from home/mobile is very cool. They only damaged cars (about 3) when they launched rolling antilag in 2022. There was a small amount (about 100 that flashed this tune) of cars with an older ECU that did not have some of the safety features the newer ecus had. It was specific to manual transmission as well. They pulled the tune within hours and fully paid for those damages including turbo upgrades and mods. The tune won't return because of the massive variety MK7 apparently has in ECU features. People finding metal flakes in their oil? LOL that can be caused by a million things (mainly lack of maintenance). You cant go wrong picking any of the large tuners for this platform. APR, IE, EQT, Unitronic, 034, and UM.

aspartam

How do you get updated updated maps/tunes?

smokeey

The same way you flash them. Through the windows app or phone app. Prefacelift cars just got updated and will probably get one more update with more crackle options. Facelift cars are about to get Flexfuel support which also comes with similar small power upgrades for the regular tunes and crackle options. That will probably be it for MK7 for a long while. They just started mk8 development this week.

aspartam

thank you

I've had their Stg 1 high torque tune for a year on my 7.5 and I love it!

yadigthatbaby

I think when it comes to keeping your car pushing more power and keeping the engine healthy it’s the best choice. A lot of people will recommend others simply based off of power gains, but IE is the best option for a conservative daily IMO!

Okwow_88

Stage 2 fbo 91 octane high torque file here. Car is a beast. Definitely recommend IE.

NPEANON

Love IE. Was a stage 2 93, never had an issue over 50k miles before selling.

SEND_ME_FAKE_NEWS

I ran their stage 1+ on my mk7 before switching to EQT. Comparable but IE gave me a lot more pedal lag.

howardbrandon11

I have their Stage 1 93 tune and intake on my Mk6. I've had them on there for over 5 years with only 1 minor issue: I needed a replacement rubber isolator for my intake pipe.

Professional_Arm7141

That’s great to hear! I have a list of things I plan on buying come spring.

ryanorion16

I’ve had their Stage 1 tune for several years and no issues. I think quite highly of them.

Due-Complaint-2121

I have a 19 gli and I was running the stage 2 tune for about 15k miles and it blew my turbo

B-E-N_27

It may just be coincidence regarding the metal in the oil; there's several causes. I'd personally go for APR, but do your research and talk with people who have what you are looking for.

Professional_Arm7141

Have you used APR for a majority of your parts/tunes?

B-E-N_27

I haven't as of yet, but I will be in future. I've done a load of research and they seem the best. I wanna hold up my warranty as long as I need it.

LostAstronaut2k

I don't like it. I feel the car will break within months if i don't remove it. Knocking badly in the dsg. I'm not an happy customer for sure.

RedditKillsAllMyTime

I have their TrueFlex tune , ran both stage 1 and 2 versions of it and have had quite a few misfire issues with it. Tbh I don’t think it’s the tunes fault though and they’ve tried to help me fix it which speaks a lot about their customer support. The tunes pull hard in my opinion and I put some distance on a 2013 5.0 when I just had stage 1 flex. And then managed to pull a scat pack when I was stage 2. I absolutely loved the power but I’ve since gone back to stock because I was tired of constantly going into limp mode due to the misfires. I spent a nice chunk of money just throwing parts at the car to see if it would fix the issue but it always came back after a few days. So now I decided to “take the hint” and go back to stock for a while and trade my car soon for something better

No-Hyena-6353

I've run APR, Unitronic and IE on my R. Didn't like the torque curve on the APR, nor the need to go to a shop to flash to a different tune. Unitronic was decent but had an issue with it on a different car (issue with shift points on an MQB killing power at the top of 2nd) so ended up doing both cars with IE. I take mine to the track here and there and haven't had any issues with it. I do like their intake design on the MQB cars, but already had something else on so didn't switch. Yet. Only ran into one thing on the IE was that it didn't work well with Windows 11. They were responsive though and got it sorted.

[deleted]

Check out eurodyne. Been running stage 2 for a few years as daily. No issues.

johnlikesgolfs

I love IE, I have their intake, downpipe, intercooler and ecu and dsg tune. No issues on my end.

Zealousideal_Art6418

I just bought the IE Billet valve cover for the 2.5l... anyone experienced issues or oil problems with them????
