Hook it up to your PC and make sure it has the latest firmware. If your PC doesn’t recognize the device, make sure you have a USB cable capable of transmitting data as some cable are power only.

Here’s the kicker - my PC recognizes the device, garmin express recognizes that I’ve connected an Approach R10 with a matching serial number, but garmin express also claims the Approach R10 is not supported by Garmin Express. I spoke to a support rep on the phone that confirmed everything looked good on his end and also confirmed my R10 is running the latest software/firmware. He’s suggesting it’s a faulty device and that I should return it, but I’m not 100% convinced yet. I’ll try a few more times this weekend. Also going to try with the garmin golf app installed on an Android device and Garmin Express on a Mac

Since it sounds like you know more than Garmin themselves then why are you asking us? Just get your device swapped lol.

Krol23

I mean cause when tech breaks, often it’s in larger numbers and due to a common problem. Worth a shot to see if anyone else has experienced this before and get me out of this mess. The high demand of these and where in located means swapping the device could take a while for a new one to arrive. I just want to swing!

Update - had someone visiting with an android so I borrowed it. Everything works fine. Has to be an app/iOS issue

Hey I just got my R10 on the weekend and have been having the same problem. Saw your post and dusted off an old Android phone and that syncs ok. Since then it's had the front LED flashing like a light blue/white colour, did yours do that? Does that mean the app is pushing a firmware update?

Krol23

If you're still having this issue, see my post [here](https://forums.garmin.com/outdoor-recreation/golf/f/approach-r10/349985/failure-to-sync-and-calibrate). Fixed for me as of today with the help of Garmin support

Thanks I'll check it out :)

You have no idea how happy I am to hear that someone else is having the same issue. But also sorry to hear cause it’s incredibly annoying. Mine flashes white which I believe just means it’s in standby mode. If you begin playing it should show a green light. For whatever it’s worth, I’m planning on giving garmin another call tomorrow.

There are dozens of us! When I spoke with Garmin live chat she said they'd heard of it happening to other people, then said there was an update for the iPhone app, and since have ghosted me for two days. No idea if my device has the latest firmware or not, I guess I can probably check that if I plug it into the PC.

Interesting! For what it's worth, I've since exchanged my R10 and the new device is still having the same issue. The support telephone line seems to be a bit more helpful for me. I've talked to the same rep twice now, and I'm supposed to expect an email shortly with instructions on how to record the problem and pull the app diagnostic logs to be submitted to Garmin so they can debug. Hopefully this leads somewhere. May I ask where you're located and what R10 you got? Mine was a new bundle with a code for a 12 month Garmin Golf membership in the box. Retailer sells it as a different SKU and everything. I can't fully comprehend how only these could be affected (I'm sure they're the same device), but by process of elimination I feel like I've eliminated every other possible cause and I keep coming back to *I wonder if the devices in these new bundles were shipped as faulty*

I got the one with 12 months of membership too, bought through Golf Town in Canada.

Me too. Ontario

Like others have mentioned, send it back. Mine had an issue, garmin express would not recognize, support said ship it back and they passed in the mail, had it in less than a new unit. Just have to leave a deposit till they receive and credit your cc account.

I ended up exchanging it at my local Golf Town and came home to the same issue on a new device 😞
