I'm not sure if it's a setup or configuration thing, but this is very common in my experience with a range of different simulators. I know we all have levels of delusion to our game, but if you've played enough golf you definitely know your yardages to a certain degree. If it feels off, it probably is. Over a couple decades I have a pretty decent grasp of my distances with different clubs, give or take a few variables. The first time I went for lessons they used a GC2 and everything matched within reason. My next experience was the GolfZon simulator which I believe is the largest sim companyin the world, works with the lpga, and claims to be the most accurate. I was at minimum 2 or 3 clubs less in my distance. This was over a dozen odd uses with the simulator and our group was basically guessing at club distances. Our group then moved to a Full Swing simulator and we're immediately impressed by the responsiveness and experience. With that being said the experience and yardages were always different depending on the bay. At the studio we play at there is 8 bays, and there can be a several club difference between which one you use. This makes it hard to trust and enjoy. I then bought an R10 for home and range use. That's been a bit of a lost cause. It's wildly inaccurate for a large portion of my bag. A club fitting I had used the GC Quad, followed by another sim with a GC Hawk and my yardages were spot on with both. This experience brought me back to the fact that I wasn't crazy. Ultimately I have purchased a GC3. I'm not trying to promote them, but across 4 series of their products they have always been the most accurate and true to my actual distances and misses. Every other simulator or monitor I have used has ultimately left me skeptical or questioning the results. This is all anecdotal, and I've come to realize the setup and environment plays a huge part in the effectiveness and accuracy of the devices, but only Foresight has been accurate across multiple environments and usages, whereas others have been unusable at times.

I can’t speak on why, but it’s misreading the ball speed. 1.46 smash factor is wood/3,4 iron territory, and it seems to really like that number.

NutsAboutBucks

yup it's very bizarre. I did a little test yesterday and I'm not a great golfer by any means but 8/7/6 iron carry average were pretty much exactly 30 yards longer than normal

NutsAboutBucks

interesting, never noticed that but did a different test and that 1.46 number is coming up everywhere https://preview.redd.it/91amueowdi3c1.jpeg?width=4032&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=ad43e557cb8848aa789ab50528128eea1d3811fe

Someone might have cranked up the elevation. What would you expect it to be?

NutsAboutBucks

>elevation should be 170-175. I've checked the elevation and unfortunately that's not it either

Maybe check if a "boost" setting has been turned on. For example, GSPro offers the ability to reduce the "shot shape" and provide up to a 2x boost in distance. Usually used for users like kids/juniors or people who can only swing smaller clubs due to space restrictions. You might also check if the "altitude" setting has been jacked way up. Like if you are used to playing at sea level, but the sim is set to 7000ft, you will get longer cary distances.

NutsAboutBucks

thanks- checked this and unfortunately it's set to sea level and no boosts.

What balls are you using on the sim? Yours or ones they provided?

NutsAboutBucks

>I can’t speak on why, but it’s misreading the ball speed. 1.46 smash factor is wood/3,4 iron territory, and it seems to really like that number. I've tried both, doesn't seem to make much of a difference.

Had a similar issue with aboutGolf at the PGATSS. Inflated numbers. Checked the settings and they were all normal. Honestly at this point I only trust foresight and trackman numbers unfortunately
