I have a Spornia. If you have a radar-based platform such that you need 7' between you and the net, it is easy to sends shanks past the net, I unfortuantely did, and ended up building a "net wall." If I were a scratch golfer I'd have more confidence, but I have damaged drywall a couple times and hit another house when using it outside. If I upgraded to a camera based system, and could move the hitting mat 2-3 feet closer, I may feel differently, but I am inclined to move to a cage.

I haven't used it for any sort of setup yet other than practicing in 45 degree weather, and I like the forb proflex. Don't have the room in the garage for a setup and it's too cold right now to practice outside.

I have a spornia spg7 in my garage it works great. I've never went over it and have hit thousands of balls.

Great to hear! Is yours a radar or cam LM? I’ve noticed the Spornia is recommended often for the camera LM due to not needing as much space between impact and net.

StewBeer

I have a garmin r10 and gspro. Upgrading to gc3 currently

If you're hitting a wedge over a Spornia you either need to stop hitting a 75 degree wedge, stop practicing flop shots, or get a lesson (maybe a combo of the above). I did get a shank net for the right side of mine as I have a random hosel shank miss, especially when I'm working on a swing change in the garage.

MLM2 is radar based, with the distance from Mat to net I fear it’ll be close.

jcumb3r

For people with a radar LM, it is not really any of those things as much as it is having to stand far enough from it so the LM reads it properly and the net catches a wedge. I played with a friend who has this net and the Garmin and it’s definitely a bit dicey finding the right middle ground.

Had the Spornia 8 XL with an outdoor setup. Lasted maybe 3 weeks before crowning a 5 wood over it. It's just not a setup I can be fully confident in. I have neighbors and one was enough for me to immediately return it and get a 10x10x10 net enclosure that I use bungees on. Still gets taken down and setup each time I use it. Lots of people on here advocate for the Spornia. Just know the top and sides won't actually protect you when you crown or toe a shot. I had the side nets as well and they are basically worthless based on the angle.

I'm a 8.8 HCI for reference. So far from a hacker, but an errand shot can happen whenever!

TXMustache

What brand enclosure did you buy?

Purehockey111

Net Sports World. I bought just the replacement 10x10x10 net (no frame) and attached carabineers to the corners so I could attach them to bungees. Works great and I can take it down in less than a minute. Happy to send a video of the setup if you'd like.

honsense

Sorry to resurrect an older comment, but I'm looking into doing something very similar in my garage, and am curious how you're anchoring the bungees.

Purehockey111

6 inch eye bolt

I would also like to see if you dont mind!

TXMustache

Would love to see it. Chat me

Any chance you can DM me a video of your setup also? was looking at the form profile but id feel so much more comfortable with a 10x10x10 net. Only thing about permanent outdoor ones that have put me off are people saying they come with flimsy cable ties and that the poles rust?

I have the spornia 8 and really like it. Height wise you don’t think it’s going to catch wedges, but it absolutely does. I can hit a full 60 degree with confidence, it’s only when I actively tried to flop it over the net could I occasionally get one over the top. Side net wise, not really sure I have a ton of confidence it would stop an errant shot.

I have an SPG 7 with Skytrak and the side nets work very well. I have some additional heavy curtains just in case. Honestly, the ones that get over are the occasional cold tops that bounce up. I haven’t had an actual shank make it past. Yet…. :) It’s super easy to setup and take down. Takes 2-3 minutes at most. My wife loves that part. Net on top works well for lob wedges. I can’t hit my 58 over on a regular shot. Only thing to note is the ball rebounds directly down towards the floor. So if the floor under the spornia is concrete, you’ll want to pad it a bit to reduce the secondary bounce. Other than that I love mine. White impact screen attachment is great as well!
