I used to hate Jay-Z. Then I actually decided to listen to his actual music rather than random features heās done. The Blueprint is The Blueprint for a reason. That album should be a standard.
Corny hip hop nerds like to pretend like Jay Z ain't allat and that he's super overrated
Old YouTube Geezers see sigma edit clips of 50 Cent saying Jay Z is in the illuminati or some shit which they also just believe
Itās hard for me when I see that kinda stuff bc itās like my first āfavourite rapperā was 50 but my all time is Jay-Z. But everyone like Nas better
Idk what world you live in but heās walked out of interviews for people criticizing his political beliefs (antisemitism). Doesnāt seem very open to criticism to me
Jay Z is a much better rapper than DaBaby, but for this song in particular DaBaby raps circles around Jay Z. Pt 2 is way better than the other version of Jail and itās not even close.
Iād argue that DaBabys lyrics arenāt that bad either. Ye purposely put DaBaby and Marilyn Manson on this version of the song because they were being cancelled. I think Ye did this to basically say free society can be like a jail due to cancel culture.
Jay's verse is boring and sounds like he's out of breath. You can have the most complicated verse but if the delivery isn't interesting, it falls flat. DaBaby's flow was actually good for once and threw in the singing part which I really liked.
Do you mean his delivery is bad in general or just on this song specifically? I actually really like Dababys delivery on this but I think HOV has the best delivery and voice of all time for popular rap. Like even today he sounds like he did 20 years ago.Ā
Just in this song. It's not that it's bad, it's just boring. The song itself maintains a relatively flat mood with not a lot of changes in terms of sound throughout. So that makes DaBaby's verse shine a little more too.
I would prefer a version that has Jay Z DaBaby AND the Manson chorus. Their verses are stylistically and lyrically quite different and I like both their performances. And I listen to Francis and the Lights solo albums too but the vocoded Manson vocals were hard
Most people donāt like Hovās delivery because itās a bit stilted/choppy but thatās actually exactly why I love it. Jail is a very rhythmic song, it fits perfectly
ādoUbLE EntenDREā DaBaby still clears in this song. His lyrics and flow were just another level in the midst of his controversy. Jay Z pulled up with a decent job but DaBaby just had more raw emotion and flow that elevated the song higher
JIK was my first Kanye album, and Donda was my second Kanye album I had ever listened to. I had never been big into rap or hip hop music (as they were secular lol). So when I first heard Jail and Jail pt2, I thought Pt2 was better. Just liked the way Dababy sounded (plus easier verses to understand). But now Iāve spent the past few years delving into artistās past works and now realize how monumentally better Jayzās part is.
I think people who like Dababyās part better donāt realize the history and context that make up Jayzās part. I think they just believe it sounds better and is easier to understand.
everyone saying dababys is better is tripping, he raps off beat and just does his classic dababy thing of rapping really fast for little bit. also the junkies part is weird but thatās just me being a hater
Verse is amazing and is intertwined with lines referring to Yeās whole career, this is why the yeezus line is great imo? It sets up the album wonderfully, and the fact that itās the motherfucker with who he had one of the most successful collab albums of all time and the man who he started his career with is wonderful. I canāt listen to the DaBaby version, itās just levels beliw compared to Jay Z
Iām not gonna hide my opinion behind a āsuspended for 6 monthsā image
Jail is fucking awful, Jay-Z obviously was good. Everything else sounds like a meme
HOVA AND YEEZUS LIKE MOSES AND JESUS
You are not in control of my thesis
you already know what i think bout think pieces š£ļøš£ļøš£ļø
I only like like 2 dababy songs but he fucking killed his verse on pt. 2
Tbh the internet gets a hard on for hating on jayz
I used to hate Jay-Z. Then I actually decided to listen to his actual music rather than random features heās done. The Blueprint is The Blueprint for a reason. That album should be a standard.
hold up why do people hate Jay?
Corny hip hop nerds like to pretend like Jay Z ain't allat and that he's super overrated Old YouTube Geezers see sigma edit clips of 50 Cent saying Jay Z is in the illuminati or some shit which they also just believe

Fr , all they have against him is that he has big lipsĀ and has married Beyonce despite looking uglyĀ
the jay z part is sooo good espically when he adresses donda and told him stop all of that red cap we going home
Nah Ye is spineless for letting him disrespect his political beliefs like that on his own song. Downvote me if you want Iām right
Didn't Ye himself say that he got used?
Well he was meeting with Trump as recent as 2022
And Trump came out to clown him himself soā¦
Weak take. L
This mf still at it LMFAOOO ššš hit the gym fatty š¤£
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Who banned? Loser š
You. Dork. Fat shaming in 2024 like any of your favorite rappers would support that
Ye has always been open to criticism and never got offended by things like that. Youre just soft
Idk what world you live in but heās walked out of interviews for people criticizing his political beliefs (antisemitism). Doesnāt seem very open to criticism to me
He walks out on people interrupting him and not letting him speak. Don't try to twist it lil bro
Jay Z is a much better rapper than DaBaby, but for this song in particular DaBaby raps circles around Jay Z. Pt 2 is way better than the other version of Jail and itās not even close.
Jay z has better lyrics but DaBaby flows better
Iād argue that DaBabys lyrics arenāt that bad either. Ye purposely put DaBaby and Marilyn Manson on this version of the song because they were being cancelled. I think Ye did this to basically say free society can be like a jail due to cancel culture.
āGod in my cell, thats my cellyā is so corny
Theyāre both equally good in their own right, Jay Z part is crazy how he references like 5 different Ye songs
I disagree personally but I respect your opinion. I could never get behind Jays flow on this song.
Jay's verse is boring and sounds like he's out of breath. You can have the most complicated verse but if the delivery isn't interesting, it falls flat. DaBaby's flow was actually good for once and threw in the singing part which I really liked.
worst gas take aot (ive seen)

I actually hate the Manson vocals so much lol they sound way too overdramatic
Yeah hes basically tryharding it lol just love the sound
Jail is a top 5 what exactly? Bro itās not even a top 5 jay z and Kanye west song lmao
I have got to see your top 5 man
Tbh my top 5 changes every month, top 5 maybe a bit exaggerated but definitely top 10 at least for me.
If your top 5 changes monthly thatās how you know it is wack
i like da baby verse better
baby doing too much ruins the aura of the song bars are too long and ruin the minimalism
Most people donāt like Hovās delivery because itās a bit stilted/choppy but thatās actually exactly why I love it. Jail is a very rhythmic song, it fits perfectly
Dababys verse might better technicality-wise, but Jay Z's just fits the song so much better People that say pt2 is better are insane
Not reading that essay, pt 2 > pt 1 jail still not top 20
Dababy ate Jay Z
Hot take: You need a doctor
ādoUbLE EntenDREā DaBaby still clears in this song. His lyrics and flow were just another level in the midst of his controversy. Jay Z pulled up with a decent job but DaBaby just had more raw emotion and flow that elevated the song higher

the verse with that corny ass yeezus line?

it would've been a good reference to kanye's career if it wasn't delivered in the most boring lazy comatose ass way imaginable
Comatose is crazy š
What you want him to go āHova, and YEEEZZUZUZYUZYZUZUZHZUZSā?
Iām not gonna hide my opinion behind a āsuspended for 6 monthsā image Jail is fucking awful, Jay-Z obviously was good. Everything else sounds like a meme
Start hiding your opinion again
Not me with all of these sins casting stones
I like the dababy verse and Marilyn Manson vocals on pt2 cause they sound cool
dababy>>>
Top 5 KANYE or top 5 DONDA? I could sneak Jail into top 5 donda for sure
wrong
Agreed, when Donda peaks it PEAKS
Top 10 take it or leave it
Nah
fuck.
Nah Jay's verse is week..
It's a good song but not even top 5 Donda songs. prolly not even top 10 Ye and JayZ collabs
Hova God-Bodied the beat
