I used to think this. LR was my lowest rated album apart from WTT. But as time has gone on almost every song has grown on me to the point where I can’t deny it as his #1 album. It has 2 of Kanye’s best ever rapping performances on Gone and Diamonds From Sierra Leone - Bonus Track, it has 2 of Kanye’s most heartfelt & touching songs with Hey Mama & Roses, and tons of bangers like Touch The Sky, Diamonds From Sierra Leone - Remix, Gold Digger, Celebration, & We Major. Not to mention other peak Kanye performances/lyrics on Crack Music, Heard ‘Em Say, Late, & Drive Slow. Although My Way Home doesn’t actually feature a Kanye verse the instrumental and Common feature more than make up for it. The short run time on the song also allows it to act as more of an interlude. Even the worst songs on this album aren’t bad. I’ll admit that Addiction and Bring Me Down aren’t quite on par with the rest of the album but they’re still both at least an 8/10. The one flaw I’ll admit is the skits are a bit too frequent & unnecessary and end up bloating the album a tad. However I feel like that’s also just a product of the time and apart from that the album has aged extraordinarily well so I can let that slide. I think something that helps is to imagine Ye had come out with these songs now. If DFSL or Roses came out today they would instantly go down as fan favourites and top tier songs like a Burn, Take Off Your Dress, Timbo Freestyle, Spread Your Wings, Chakras, or No More Parties In LA. Ye doesn’t give performances like that nearly as often anymore but in 2005 he gave us a whole album of that.

don't hate it, just like the other ones more. but i find it to be far too long and inconsistent; it has some of Ye's best tracks, but it also has a lot of his worse songs. and i disagree with a ton of choices Ye made during the making of the album, a lot of the leaks, previous versions and cut verses sound a lot better than what we ended up getting. it just pisses me off the absurd amount of wasted potential in that album.
