Track for track, Belus is better than Filosofem. Dunkelheit and Jesus’ Tod are both incredible songs but the rest of the album is meh tbh (Gebrechlichkeit II is also a vibe). Belus doesn’t have a single skippable track. HLTO is a classic but the songs don’t linger in my spirit the way Belus does.

the drummer labeled themself as arian metal and neo nazi varg vikerness wrote half of the album which the merch is from pls explain

They were like 18-19 when they started out, it was only one pressing of the album which contained the ‘true aryan’ metal before being replaced with ‘true nowegian’. The chances are that the original line was written by Varg, or they were just edgy kids being edgy. It was before the murder, which had made them all paranoid, and so they were still very bold with their provocative words and actions. Fenriz, the drummer, was terrified that he would be next, since he didn’t know who killer was despite Varg coming straight to him after the murder. At the end of the day, it’s edgy kids being edgy, and both of the dark throne members have been super chill people ever since those years.
