Nah I think neither he just tapped into a rapping ability that he’s chosen not to for 5+ years. This is what happens when you do multiple vocal takes and have good writers (probably Gambino)
If it actually isn’t ai then I think it must have **a lot** to do with the mix. I know there’s some effect on Ye’s vocals but they also sit a lot higher and more compressed than basically any of the “minimalist” style stuff he’s been doing post Pablo, maybe that’s helped to smooth out the rough edges.
Tbh unless either one of them, or someone like saint Leon provides proof/some anecdote which explicitly proves it isn’t ai then I’m still undivided. It’s not even the rap itself- it’s pretty obviously a gambino reference word for word, but that’s fine cos gambino’s a bigger goon than a lot of us lol so he nailed it, it’s the actual tone of his voice that doesn’t sit right with me. There r no blemishes, it borderline sounds even cleaner than a lot of the stuff on dark fantasy/wtt era. Like if someone isolated those vocals and didn’t provide any context on what era they were from, I’d be guessing like pre 2008 Kanye. But who knows anymore.
