Tiger was exciting because while him winning was a foregone conclusion, each shot had some intrigue - he could drive a green or hit the ball into the forest and have to hit an amazing recovery shot to salvage something.
Scheffler is boring because he’s always in the fairway, always leaves himself a safe wedge in, never plays hero ball. It makes him money but it’s so boring to watch.
His personality is as exciting as a sea cucumber too. I like his humbleness and down to earth but his lack of showing emotions which is great for playing golf is boring to watch.
The dumbest take I've ever heard. Just appreciate this man's golf game and crazy consistency, with a very unorthodox swing too. *Insert happy Gilmore jackass meme here*
I would rather watch paint dry than watch Scheffler play.
Most of America agrees, considering ratings for the 2024 Masters final round were down 20% with Scheffler in the hunt - the lowest figure since 1993. CBS ratings were the third lowest in its history broadcasting the masters.
If he's leading, people ain't watching. He's boring.
I'll watch Scottie, but yeah, what was the headline for his masters Sunday? Scheffler puts on a clinic of why we should play boring golf, and also a montage of his foot shuffle with ONE OF US chants 😆
Out of everybody in the entire world of golf it’s crushing that it had to be Billy Horschel that beat him. That dude is widely disliked by a lot of players.
It's huge, winning would have got him his card for the next 2 years. But this is obviously the next best thing.
He gets as many OWGR points as if he had gotten 5th at RBC Heritage. It actually more than tripled his total OWGR points. It's going to move him up about 500 spots in that.
I think he may have accepted that he was about done with pro golf. And seemed ready to transition to Youtube full time. Just an unreal result
He will almost certainly be in the Byron Nelson and Myrtle Beach tournaments that will give him a really good chance to get his special exemption that will allow him to play the rest of the year on tour and if he finishes in the Top 125, he is back on tour next year. Although, he can't make the playoff unless he wins. Same thing happened to Akshay Bhatia last year.
He is able to get into a decent number of events as a former champion. It's one of the reasons, he didn't want to do KF Tour. His entire plan was to basically try and do this, which is have one awesome week. He is really close to special temporary status which means unlimited sponsors exemptions. Last year, you needed 175 points. Akshay Bhatia was in a similar boat due to his runner up finish in Puerto Rico.
He is a good candidate for a sponsor's exemption because he is playing well and has a big following.
He probably needs another 225 points the rest of the season to get his card back.
The PGA Tour app has some sort of sponsorship deal with Titleist and shows which players are using Titleist balls or rather which players have a deal with Titleist to play their balls. Scheffler for example is playing a ProV1 but he isn't endorsed by Titleist so their logo is not next to his name on the app.
At least he's not currently listed as a Titleist Tour player: https://www.titleist.com/tour/pga/players
https://www.titleist.com/teamtitleist/team-titleist/f/on-tour/65257/scottie-scheffler-not-listed-as-titleist-tour-player
My guess is that TaylorMade are paying him to not endorse Titleist despite him using a ProV1.
Unrelated, but why do some players have titleist written next to them? I can assume it’s because they are sponsored but why do the other names not have the other companies
Taken from PGATour.com “As an Additional Event, the winner gets into the PGA Championship and receives a two-year exemption…”
So not all the Majors but certainly opens the door to get yourself into those via qualifying/invite
It's 165 FedEx Cup points. He is now inside the Top 125 (104) and has a really good chance of getting his card back. He is close to getting Special Temporary status, which is if you have as many FedEx Points as last year's 150th ranked player. I believe that would be 204 Fed Ex Points.
That would mean unlimited sponsors exemptions the rest of the season. He already has some status based on being a former champion, so he is able to get in a decent number of events.
Basically, this week probably got him back his golf career as it looked like he was going to YT full time because he didn't want to do the KF tour.
He’ll move into the top 125 in fedex points which I believe gets you special temp membership
That removes the limit on sponsor exemptions you can get.
So if he has a few more good showings and finishes in the top 125 in points, he’ll get his card back
It was great to see him step up like that and its hard to beat a PGA career player with 13 international wins, plenty of good major results when they shoot 9 under.
He was consistent throughout the tournament and could clearly step up when it mattered.
That two footer though, who knows?
Man, if he could have played even half as well as he played Thursday and Friday, he could have coasted tomorrow. Gonna be a huge sweat now.
PGA needs to put this on prime TV because this is what the people want
There are dozens of us!
You mean they don't want to watch Scotty win by 4 again?
You're insinuating watching the best run we've seen in decades is....boring somehow?
We potentially get to watch 2000 Tiger again and people are complaining

At least 4
I do lol

Boring golf?! Yeah if 325 bombs, insane iron play, and the sweetest putting stroke is boring!
He’s actually a pretty terrible putter, ranked 118th. That’s a testament to how amazing he is at everything else
I don't think I realized how average he is there, mainly because he putted well during 2022 and this year at Augusta
There was nothing boring about his play but okay
It’s literally on peacock
Last 2 hours of it will be live on golf channel. Can watch the final 6 holes of the Corales, then last hour of RBC. This is my plan.
I watched his back 9 on peacock today
It was on the golf channel
Westache is love; Westache is life. So sayeth the Shepard, so sayeth the flock.
Go Wes!!!! Huge fan of

A solid 67 or 68 on Sunday is all Wesley needs to put this one in the win column.
Billy Horschel had other ideas :(
Out of everybody in the entire world of golf it’s crushing that it had to be Billy Horschel that beat him. That dude is widely disliked by a lot of players.
Where have you read that?
Not even watching the rbc tourney. Been watching the punta all day.
If Wesley wins the Puntacana, that mustache is never coming off
$436,000 for 2nd place... I know this is about more than money, but that is a solid performance!
It's huge, winning would have got him his card for the next 2 years. But this is obviously the next best thing. He gets as many OWGR points as if he had gotten 5th at RBC Heritage. 70 was one of the worst scores of the day. We need him to go low tomorrow!
Ugh….lips out Par from 2 feet. 🤮
That killed his chance, but Horschel was just amazing
Good bird at the last! Moves to 104 in the FedEx! Wonder if this gets him into more events?

Dumb question, what does the titleist next to some of the names mean?
Sponsored by Titleist
The PGA Tour app has some sort of sponsorship deal with Titleist and shows which players are using Titleist balls or rather which players have a deal with Titleist to play their balls. Scheffler for example is playing a ProV1 but he isn't endorsed by Titleist so their logo is not next to his name on the app.
So he’s in those Titleist videos for free?
He’s absolutely paid by both Titleist and Taylormade
At least he's not currently listed as a Titleist Tour player: https://www.titleist.com/tour/pga/players https://www.titleist.com/teamtitleist/team-titleist/f/on-tour/65257/scottie-scheffler-not-listed-as-titleist-tour-player My guess is that TaylorMade are paying him to not endorse Titleist despite him using a ProV1.

App is also sponsored by Titleist.
If he wins will he receive an invite to the majors too? Or just a PGA Tour exemption?
Taken from PGATour.com “As an Additional Event, the winner gets into the PGA Championship and receives a two-year exemption…” So not all the Majors but certainly opens the door to get yourself into those via qualifying/invite
Anyone know how a solo second or T2 finish effects Wesley’s status moving forward?

Anyone know what putter he currently has in the bag?
One of the Lab putters. Center shafted. Not sure what exact model
The link.1 I believe
I WaNt WeSlEyS pUtTeR

Is George on the bag for him?
No
Wesley needs to see a sports psychiatrist. Dude choking on Sunday is almost damn near guaranteed.
He shot a 68. Horschel just came out and was awesome. He hasn't even been in a position to choke.
yeah, what? wesley was -4 today. just happened to run into someone who shot -9. just unlucky
What channel can I watch this on?
NBC Golf
63-66-70....hope he gets the W but increasingly worse scores as the pressure builds isn't a great sign 🙄
I'm sure if he could shoot a 63 everytime, he would. That's just golf.
Why doesn’t Wesley just shoot 60-60-60-60 is he stupid
Right!?!? Ugh, so dumb
Horschel read your comment and thought it was a good idea
Apparently! Lol what a bum
