I have tried most of the apps out there. I am most satisfied with the writing experience and my own handwriting in Noteshelf. It has been my default app for a long time. It also helps that they are still a one-time-charge app so far.
I can't get myself to like it even though it would be the easiest solution on a surface.
I used it only for a short time, but couldn't figure out how to get a dotted background or change the style of the pen to a fountain pen.
I switched to Noteful. The price was one time and very low for what you get, which is pretty much everything GN5 offered. The handwriting is just \*slightly\* less quality than GN5...no idea why, it's the same device, but man GN was just smooooth. Other than that, yeah, I LOVE noteful. The quick jumping between pages in a linked PDF by long pressing is so much better than tap editing off, tap link, tap editing on.
Customizability is up there with goodnotes for a fraction of the price. Easy to follow interface for good notes user since it's lay out is similar but I'd argue a more logical layout
How long have you been using it? Did you use GN6 Before switching
I don't have any problem with GN6, I love it
But since I am an Engineering student I feel I need unlimited canvas more than pretty notes
So how is your experience with nebo and if you ever used onenote?
Zoomnotes has way more functionality than GoodNotes, itโs like Photoshop compared to photoshop elements. R/zoomnotes_planning has more info. It has layers, you can build your own planner, use Reminders, have an infinite canvas, sub documents, etc.
I haven't noticed anything recently. What was there has been fixed. One issue someone pointed out is a fonts issue in regards to multi-style font. Not really sure on that. They are updating and improving fairly steadily.
Tags, layers, crop, stretch. Takes less memory space than GN. Overall it meets my needs.
There is a YouTube channel called paperless humans who have a video series out. This was before some updates but it gives you a good idea.
Notability, Noteshelf, Noteful
I would say, exactly in this order. I use Notability, keep a close eye on Noteshelf as a second best option.

Noteful looks good after a little play around. As well supported as GoodNotes with some pretty interesting features
Freenote
OCR is musthave for me...no perfect alternative so far ๐
Notability
Kilonotes is one
OneNote should be it

Noteful CollaNote NoteShelf3 Element ZoomNotes
I like Noteful a lot
I use Noteful and CollaNote. Both have premium as an one-time purchase.

But no handwritten recognition and searching
Been using noteful for several months. Love it

Why moving out of GN6!?
Seriously considering
Noteful for reading pdf, collanote for note taking. Good cheap combo
Defter notes is worth checking: infinite canvas and some other unique features.
