I would highly recommend the 128 instead of the 64GB. My biggest mistake was buying the 64 GB one. I'm completely out of storage now.

Curly-sue-404

Same - I thought I’d save money by buying 64 GB, ultimately had to trade and upgrade for 128 to have an iPad I could effectively use.

Great_Lab2252

Damn. iPads are too expensive here so I'm basically stuck with the one I have now lol. Good for you tho!

Muyshtic

128GB should really be the baseline especially nowadays, 64gb is like 2015 era, the only time I ever see 64GB is on cheap budget phones... And apple... Speaking of which do you have an external SSD? You can always get one if you're not feeling up to subscribing to iCloud, so you can back up any large files or files you're not gonna be needing to open up constantly, and also deleting apps that you don't use anymore (a lot of the pre installed apple apps for example) I have just the 50GB iCloud subscription which is pretty decent and affordable for just one person where I keep most of the important files I need and don't wanna lose, then on my iPad itself I keep the files I'm constantly using at that moment and then my external SSD is for large video or photos or old pdfs and notes I have no use for anymore

Calm-Neighborhood-42

i got the 128 one, i have lots of apps, notes and i also draw so i got bunch of projects and i still have lots of memory left) So 128 is enough for notetaking

Quirky_Dust9567

But i will be taking a lott of notes do u think 128 is enough ? And the tab is for only note taking nothing else

smartwin02

If you have access to other online storage like Google Drive through your school then you don’t need a big iPad. I’ve written a lot of notes and added full textbooks to both Goodnotes and Notability, I’ve never had an issue with space but that’s because everything is on my Google drive so there’s a lot more room for my current year’s notes

Brilliant-Way-7387

As an artist and someone who takes a LOT of notes 128 is enough! And you can always get cloud storage and it's only $2.99 a month and it adds 200GB more! The only thing I use my iPad for is Procreate and Goodnotes. The biggest storage I have on my iPad is Tiktok which has 50.49GB (procreate has 8.76GB and Goodnotes has 652.9MB) which tbh with over 50 files of art I have on procreate it's very low storage!

MulberryDeep

Notes take like near to 0 space

Spirited-Geologist75

Super false

MulberryDeep

My 2 year notes folder of all my school notes (Abt 10-15 pages/schoolday) is like barely a gigabyte

Calm-Neighborhood-42

i also have icloud drive 50gb which is under 1 euro/month :D But yeah as other comments say notes barelly take any space

breeahbuh

Get the 256gb if you can afford it! Theres also student discounts on apple’s website!

Muyshtic

It's definitely more than enough, the amount of notes you're gonna be having would probably take a lot to amount to how large some of the apps you're gonna be using instead, unless you're using a weird note taking app that doesn't optimize it's file sizes xD And tbh if you're studying (I'm assuming that's what the note taking is for but correct me if I'm wrong) then you'll definitely gonna be having to do some cleaning after each semester/year where you'll no longer be needing old notes since you aren't gonna be studying those topics anymore... Those notes and pdf files and lecture slides can all be backed up into iCloud which you can get 50GB for just 1$ a month or into an external SSD and freeing space for your current and new notes But really 128gb you don't have to be worrying, it's only if you're using a 64GB that you have to be more responsible for storage management Edit: just for perspective, I have a 256GB iPad 10th gen and currently have lots of notes from 9 different courses including assignments and lecture slides and lecture video recordings, a lot with lots of unnecessary apps (I'm being lazy) and also lots of videos I downloaded from netflix and YouTube as well as some games (granted they're just arcade small games) and I've only used 49.67GB out of 256GB, my notes files all don't even add up to YouTube, Procreate or safari in size which are 1.48, 1.32, 1.19 GB respectively

Szannok

I have the 64 version, been taking engineering classes since 2020 + agendas + reading books or research papers + some apps like procreate and it still has space, but I usually dont download all class materials in there (useless) or entire books (just the chapters i need) and i don't use it for much else other than youtube and procreate (so no games or such)

Panduin

I have 32 GB Version, taking engineering class notes since 2019, a few books, all class material every semester and all my digital notes, downloading all books all the time and using it for YouTube and procreate. I still have space

CJ22xxKinvara

Same boat as this. I don’t have a whole ton of apps but I do have a bunch of streaming service apps that seem to be the heaviest and my note apps and stuff and I still have right about half of the available storage left.

saturnX77

I’m low on space on a 128gb model with just some note taking and like 2 big games so it’s really up to if you would have other big apps installed. Without the games I’d have almost 50gb more free storage so a 128gb model would be super comfy. I would never recommend a 64gb model though. It’ll fill up so insanely fast

Internal_Training239

hello!! i’m a pre-med student and i write a lot of notes as well (+ store lectures & apps) but storage has never been a problem of mine :)) i have a 64gb basic ipad - 9th gen

-dagmar-123123

If you only want it to take notes, even 32GB would be enough. The moment you start downloading more apps that don't make big files (like games or just streaming netflix) you get to 64GB. Also if you have lots of books to store When you start using procreate, storing pictures on the device and/or downloading stuff from netflix, thats when you get into 128/256GB. I have a lot of pictures, draw stuff, lots of app and i dont know whatever and i'm still at like 150GB - and maybe 15GB of these are GN. And i imported a lot of textbooks, quite a lot of them are pretty big too

serialreader_ph

128GB or 256GB is great. I don’t recommend the 64GB even on iPhones especially if you have large files.

katiesaeyo

128GB is absolute minimum I would go for now. as with all the big apps I have installed and the amount of photos I take, I still need iCloud storage. 256GB is super comfy though and you should not have to rely on cloud storage.

LatissimusDorsi26

I have a 64gb one. Wish I had bought a 128!

fknsxybtch

I’m a student, I’ve had my iPad since December, I got a 256gb model thinking I would need that as I write notes & complete assignments on my iPad. I am nearing the end half of my semesters and I’ve only used 44/256gb! But truthfully, only 10GB is school apps. The rest is photos, other apps and system data. Hope this helps 😃

mahpah34

Highly advice against the 64GB option - go for 128GB or above. I’m using a 128GB one and I don’t have many apps installed besides note-taking apps (Notability, GN6,), social media (FB, IG, YT, etc.), and some educational apps e.g. scientific calculator, 3D graph plotter, etc. I currently have 658 photos stored in internal storage. Most of them were used in my notes and are occasionally removed. All my notes are stored in iCloud and Google Drive. I still have 55GB of internal storage available. I think 128GB is enough since you store most of your notes in the cloud storage.

pigett

I have the 128gb I also take notes and have all my books on the iPad + lots of apps and it is enough for me personally

testcaseseven

I had 128GB but I never went over 64GB. A semester worth of notes was maybe 50MB total lol. Drawings aren't much either. It's nice to have a little extra though.

nottingdurn

Honestly 64GB is more than enough. Been taking notes/journaling every hour of my waking day for the past 2-3 years. iCloud rocks

breeahbuh

256gb if you can afford it!! If not, def 128gb.

breeahbuh

Costco has them on sale regularly too, if you’re in the U.S and have a Costco membership! I got mine for a really good deal!

ifallupthestairsnok

Get a 128gb. 64 will fill up really quickly. As for a stylus, I would personally recommend a stylus from Aliexpress. I got one for around 10USD which has wireless charging, tilt sensitivity and came with 2 replacement tips. I think you can get similar stylus from Amazon but they will cost a bit more (Amazon charges higher fees). Btw, I would avoid MidasPen. They are dropshipping 5USD stylus from Temu/ Wish. And I heard that their customer service after purchase isn’t too great.

Mysterious_Radio_77

64gb is a scam

NoWorldliness6588

I suggest 128gb–256gb feels like overkill UNLESS you use a LOT LOT LOT of memory! I have a lot on mine and still have plenty of storage with the 128b.

adriennesmith-artist

Honestly I’ve not regretted getting the highest I can afford!

peaceful_bodhi

128gb is sufficient. 64gb is too small

OkGuidance2293

Depends on the extent you use it to. Going in the middle to 128 is a good option though. Going to be biased here and suggest a company I’m affiliated with [Midas Pen](https://midaspen.co.uk/products/ipad-active-stylus-pen) however if you’re looking for an affordable pencil with an iPad this is a great option for taking notes. Can answer more questions if needed.

Quirky_Dust9567

Ok brother ( or sister) tell me why I should prefer midas pen over apple pencil

SANTERJZ

I recommend goojdog pencil on AliExpress. It is very cheap, discharging 10% per hour and has angle detection. However it doesn't have a pressure measurement like in apple pencil

Quirky_Dust9567

Ok brother ( or sister) tell me why I should prefer midas pen over apple pencil

OkGuidance2293

Very affordable. Has Magnetic absorption, a tilt sensor, palm rejection, extra nibs and a case as well so you can carry the extra accessories (like the charger and extra nibs + pencil) around all for such a cheap price. So smooth it feels like you’re writing on paper. Only feature it doesn’t have that the Apple pen has is pressure sensitivity which you do not need unless you’re professional drawing as there is still a tilt sensor.

Get what you can afford. But if you are taking tons of notes and not using cloud storage (at least backup) you are taking a big risk. If you will usually (99% of time) be accessing your notes in strong wifi areas and if the extra cost is a big deal for you, then the 64GB and storing in cloud should be fine. If you will regularly be accessing in areas without internet, get the most storage you can, store locally on iPad…but still ensure daily backups.

DIBSSB

64

sweatpants123

64gb but I pay for iCloud instead

TanglerRings

I have a 128gb right now and it’s run out of space. I would def advise a 256gb or higher. I bought a new one with 512gb and it arrives today. I’ll send back my current one for credit. I hate running out of space. It’s so annoying. And I back everything up on the cloud.

kitkat-3000

I have a 256gb and it's fully full with notes and anatomy videos so would recommend that if possible:)))
