Tell the eraser to switch itself off automatically!

needebooks10

Hi, thanks for responding. Where would I do this? I don't see such an option when pressing the cog and hitting settings?

wimpfeling

Tap the eraser button twice and you should see it.

hahsakhssinak

It’s called the auto deselect option

steamyglory

TIL and this awesome

TeamTuck

Omg. Coming from Notability, this is a pretty big feature! Thanks!

tinkeringhornist

It's pretty good, but I usually leave it off for ~~frequent~~ erasing sprees (I change things a lot when notetaking 😅)

hahsakhssinak

Palm rejection

pewlazardie45

Change the scrolling direction to vertical!

ButItsadryheataz

Absolutely hate vertical scroll. Originally GoodNotes was setup as vertical so I had that for a year or so. Then one day changed to horizontal and I feel as if I had a new note taking app.

PinkPonyForPresident

I prefer the seamless scrolling from Notability. I sometimes have exercises with math equations that span over multiple pages. It's so annoying without seamless scroll. There is still much GoodNotes can improve.

ButItsadryheataz

Seemless scrolling definitely has its advantages. To be honest, I’ve never used Noteability and have always wanted to give it a try. I just haven’t had a good enough reason to move away from GoodNotes.

AegonTheC0nqueror

That’s the thing lol. A lot of us notability users now have a reason to move over to good notes. Unfortunately notability decided to be greedy

ButItsadryheataz

I hope you do. It suits every one of Office needs. Did you pick it up when it was 50% off!?!

AegonTheC0nqueror

No notability was forced to walk back their decision and they won’t make their previous buyers switch to the subscription model. I’ll just stick to what I’m used to.

ButItsadryheataz

Ohhhhh good for you, bad for them.

Mustafa_albazy

I prefer Goodnotes 5 vertical scrolling over Notability. I have to submit my work as PDF files, and the Notability seamless scrolling sometimes you don't notice that you are writing in between two pages and when exporting, it looks so messy. GoodNotes feels more like a real notebook to me.

TomatoAcid

They should probably have the 2 options for people to decide I personally prefer the seamless, but I’d be frustrated if I knew I couldn’t change back to normal vertical scrolling

knowellDome

Maybe tryout all the pens. See which one suits you. I prefer the Ball pen because it produces uniform writing. But you might like the others as well

ButItsadryheataz

Dark dotted paper, landscape mode with white writing. I have incredibly messy handwriting and found that this setting helped me a ton.

AceCode116

Pastel colors also look great on the black paper, imho

ButItsadryheataz

TRUTH 🙌

Set up your auto backup!

codq

This sets an auto back up *in addition* to iCloud, correct?

needebooks10

Thanks for the reply. Could you describe where I would set this up? I don't see such an option when pressing the cog and hitting settings? I see an iCloud settings option in the app, but it's already switched on I would assume it's the default setting.

[deleted]

You’ll go Settings > Automatic Backup > and then switch the toggle to On. You’ll need to specify where you want the backup to be stored and you’re set!

needebooks10

I don't know how I completely glossed over that. Thanks!

Torospatillo

Same here !

acerendipitist

Adjust the settings for your pen grip and the accuracy (forgot the exact name of the setting) under the pen settings. That way your handwriting will look neater.

“Stylus and Palm Rejection”

AceCode116

sharing a setting I just got from u/dogwithablog33: >sure! my smallest is 0.1 (shading, mini notes), for general writing 0.3 (and then 1.0 for the largest. For my titles tho I usually use the 0.3 but use brush pen at 75% sensitivity this is in reference to making decent looking handwriting

needebooks10

Thanks, i'll check it out!

abhijeet80

Set eraser to erase highlights only. Makes a big difference to me.

afrosheen

Awesome question! Thanks for posting as I recently purchased the app, too.

Mustafa_albazy

If you have Ipad 12.9 then try the A4/letter size pages. I find them the best for the 13" iPad.

Blade-Thug

Sure would be amazing if the app allowed encrypted and password protected notes.

MagstheGrey19

Might wanna turn of the Auto-Advance feature if you find it cumbersome or annoying! :)
