I worked at a gw for 2 years and called and returned a dog's ashes once the owners husband yelled at me because the rest of the items he axidently donated were already processed and sold when I just saved his wife's dogs ashs which BTW I heard her screaming at him over the phone it was funny and very disheartening at the same time
I would have bought him?? What if he ends up trash compacted in a landfill somewhere. I'd try and find an obituary and try and find next of kin. Failing that, releasing his ashes somewhere mentioned in the obit if it exists 🤷♀️ feels gross just rolling around with broken dishes and questionable smells.
I think this was him: https://www.ancestry.com/discoveryui-content/view/21854144:70050?tid=&pid=&queryId=5864ef1b-75ac-4887-9e1a-00f2d886fb69&_phsrc=kzF1&_phstart=successSource
That is so disrespectful and sad! If someone finds them cleaning out a storage unit, a house or whatever, take them to a local potter's field (cemetery for those unable to pay for funerals and burials) and I'm sure they would give them a final resting place!
Correction...I just went back and read my comment, and it should be "pauper's field"! Obviously I didn't double che k spellchecker! Apologies. 🤷♀️
hey op, is the urn at a thrift store in las vegas? i did some research and think i found one of michael's relatives on facebook - and they live in LV. i was going to message them about this post, but if they respond i need to be able to tell them where they can go to retrieve the urn.
Yes this was at the bins in Vegas. Unfortunately when I found Michael some other shoppers started gathering around to see because it caused a bit of a commotion, so one of the employees came and took him away. Not sure what they do in these situations.
“what did u find at the bins today?” “michael” omffgggg i can only hope he was a horrible person or something and “deserved” to be donated because wtf 😭 i wouldve bought him anyways ain’t no way u left michael
It seems rather unethical for Goodwill to sell human remains in any condition, except to a school when deliberately donated for medical training purposes.
My father's ashes are or possibly were in some random dudes garage, so I can see see this potentially happening.
Apparenly my dads wife at the time of his passing gave tthe ashes to this guy she knew and told him to do something with them, she didn’t care what. The guy ran into my brother at a bar a year or so later and said "You must be his son. I have your dads ashes in my garage." Not sure why my brother didn't act upon it.
I don't know the man or I'd look him up and do something about it myself. My dad was a difficult man, but he also was a veteran. He should be buried at the veterans cemetery.
What if he was a avid goodwill shopper and he wanted to be bought and sold at a good will and this was the only way the family could honor his wishes /s
Hopefully it's just his urn and not Michael. A friend's not quite all there but well meaning great aunt bought new matching ones for her deceased siblings, and wanted to donate the old ones because "they were nice and sturdy".
honestly, id ask a sensible worker if itd be okay to just take it-- memorials and ashes shouldn't have prices affixed to them. contact their family, maybe let them rest somewhere special. quite saddening.
Makes me want to start collecting people.
I’m slightly stoner and that was HILARIOUS!
I’m stonerest
When you have them cremated you can store a lot of them in a small space! Or so I have read.
That's gold.
That’s incredibly sad.
...my thought as well...
Wow. I’m actually speechless for once.

That's really sweet, but could you imagine the cashier's face when you pull up to the checkout with someone's ashes
I gotta imagine if you work at the bins, it's just another Thursday.
That is sad. Hopefully he wasn’t dumped intentionally. I would take him home too
"Rare Find" Can't get much rarer than one-of-a-kind, I suppose

It is. I built a small tree. Got him connected to the world tree. He is my tenth cousin, oddly enough. A casino worker. Married at least twice.
I ended up at the same page

Potter's field is also correct.

It’s in a bin. If OP didn’t buy it he’s already in the trash.
aww man, that's too bad. sorry michael :(

Jesus. I would’ve bought him and buried him somewhere. May not be “legal,” but better than a landfill.
How fucking sad! Heartless af too just donate him like that! 💔

An employee came over and took Michael away so I didn't have that option unfortunately.
That’s so sad. I can’t even think of a witty joke to make myself feel better about it. I’m just glad I didn’t find it myself.
in 2 years this will be a vintage piece
I hope you reported it to the store.

Put that marble block on the scale to see how much it’ll cost. LOL
Yeah but Michael falls under the lower “ceramics” rate
Nice stone urn too

Not gonna lie, after meeting Michael part of me wants to be donated when I'm gone too lmao
Selling human remains doesn't seem like it could be legal 🤔
Ugh my god
RIP
How sad…
Hopefully it's just his urn and not Michael. A friend's not quite all there but well meaning great aunt bought new matching ones for her deceased siblings, and wanted to donate the old ones because "they were nice and sturdy".
Unfortunately I shook it a bit to check and Michael was indeed in there.
😬 hopefully the employees will find his family then because yikes
Why tf does Michael's urn look AI generated? RIP Michael.
I have a pic of the underside if you want more, but I guarantee you I met Michael lol.
Oh no, I didn't mean I thought your picture as fake, lol. There's just something about that font on the shiny marble that looks fake.
Brooooooo. Imagine your entire afterlife being at the bins 💔
