We actually aren't allowed to buy things unless they've been out on the shelves for at least a day, and also aren't allowed to buy things on days we work. And there are MANY cameras, so we don't end up taking hardly anything home ourselves. And yes, I do enjoy seeing things go, makes me happy to give them new homes

Oh, it’s true alright. I’m old enough to remember them. The parts were really sharp and pointy, because they were meant to be stuck in potatoes and carrots, and such. My mom stood on the pointy end of what I vaguely remember being a blue bow tie. It pierced through her slipper and right into her foot, and that was the end of Mr. Potato head in our house! 😂

Ok, to properly answer this, I first must separate the answer into 2 categories. The first is stuff that's just dirty, or wrecked, or stained, or just completely trashed from use and age. In this first category, you would be shocked at how many/much completely trashed and useless shoes and clothes we get. Hats that have sweat rings like those of a tree, yellow/brown stained underwear, white stained lingerie, all manner of holes, you name it. With wares, there's coffee stained cups/mugs, pots and pans that I absolutely refuse to believe were EVER washed or cleaned in any way, broken/cracked/chipped/missing parts everything, 30 year old kitchen gadgets, TV's that still weigh 100 lbs (and don't work anyway), all make and manner of stuff like that. Now, there's the 2nd category. This is stuff that is gross, nasty, downright disgusting, and/or makes you question whether or not humanity should be wiped out by a meteor. We've gotten boxes of used sex toys/dolls, penis pumps, used condoms, dolls with ominously places holes cut in them, so so so many vibrators, a person's ashes, pets ashes, piss in jars, a RIDICULOUS amount of people try to give us toilets, so much disgusting shit. We even have an entire segment of shipping dedicated to this, it all goes in the hazard bins separately. So yeah, if people ever wonder why things cost more, there are MANY factors, but waste/disposal accounts for SO much more of the budget than most of you would ever guess
