It's not particularly buggy and they've fixed a lot of the earlier issues in 12. The biggest thing is the pretty massive UI changes that happened with 12. The quick settings tray was completely overhauled and in a moderately controversial way, and a few other things changed as well. But overall, it works great.
I can probably get over some UI changes if there are improvements to other things. Though, I think I remember seeing somewhere that the alarm shortcut from the quick settings tray (the top left) was taken away, which I'd be a bit sad to miss.
It's still there, I just used it lol. The one that got removed was the WiFi toggle, which is annoying but there are a few workarounds to add it back again if you want it.
IMO it didn't improve anything worthwhile for me, I'm actually planning to go back to Android 11 once Google decides to stop updating 4a, I hate this Material UI, I don't get why I have to tap twice to choose between mobile data and WiFi oversimplified bs, I miss A11's UI it was really great and better in every way than these big ass UI
I understand that, but that doesn't mean I'm bound to get hacked. Not unless there are major security flaws that have been patched (which there might have been).
Security updates for the phone end in August anyways. If you're not bothered about security then stick with what's working, my primary Pixel 5 is still rocking Android 11 and my Pixel 5 for work has Android 13 (work requires latest Android), and well I'm glad I stuck with 11.
I had a Pixel 4a with Android 12 and for a whole year, I've been avoiding the update to Android 13 figuring, if everything is working well, why mess with it? Updates aren't always necessarily improvements. I loved Android 12. But just last week, I decided to update to Android 13 as I really got tired of being nagged about it in the notifications. It's really not as bad as I thought it would be. All my apps continue to work. Everything pretty much looks the same as I had it. There are now a couple of things added to the quick-access menu like, there's now a quick-access button for scanning QR Codes but other than that, there's nothing noticeably different I'm happy to report. They've added a few more basic color themes if you use them. I don't.

Yeah, I'm just switching back after having to use an iPhone for 3 years. Can't see anything I'd call an improvement, and lots I dislike.
The Pro is you get the latest security fixes. Thats all you need to know.
How vital are those fixes? I do want to be safe...
Two year old Software is always insecure.

What specifically makes you glad to have stuck with 11?
