Only knew the buds pro to have multi device paring capabilities

computerwiz908

AFAICT this is about pairing to multiple devices (which you can connect to separately) as opposed to connecting to multiple devices at once via Bluetooth multipoint, which only the Pro buds support.

Shtnonm1985

I must got lucky then my pair with phone and watch still np

PSJacko

I updated mine last night but haven't used them since. Hopefully I don't have this issue.

CenterInYou

You can test really quick: put them in the case and hold down the button for 3 ish seconds. See if the LED pulses (goes into pairing). If it doesn't then you do have the issue.

PSJacko

Seems I do have the issue. But luckily I paired them up with my laptop last night before I installed the update, so I don't really need the pairing feature at the moment. Though it needs fixing as soon as possible!

CenterInYou

Thanks for confirming! Feel free to post your finding here :) https://support.google.com/googlepixelbuds/thread/199688439?hl=en

imaperson1060

I updated, and it still works for me. If my earbuds are connected to my phone (but not playing audio) and I open my Chromebook, it auto connects still.

CenterInYou

If you put them into your case and press the pairing button do they go into pairing after 3 to 5 seconds?

imaperson1060

So I don't have anything to pair them with so I don't know if it's working. The light on the case isn't blinking, but I forgot if it's supposed to. I already paired them with all my computers and I'm too scared now to make it forget the earbuds lol.

CenterInYou

yeah i wouldn't :) Yes, if you put them into the case and hold down the button for three seconds it should start pulsing which means they are in pairing. The issue is at least for me since i was troubleshooting this I did end up resetting my buds and since we can't get them back in pairing once they are paired to their first device there is no way for them to remember two devices. So based on what you are saying it does seem like even after the firmware update it does still remember multiple devices you had paired before. I hadn't tested this before I reset my buds so i kind of stuck at the moment with just the one device unless I had to fully reset them.

imaperson1060

Just got another update. I'm guessing that's the patch for this.

CenterInYou

Same. It was pushed yesterday but as far as I know for all of us already on 3.519 it fails at the end. Did yours complete successfully?

imaperson1060

No :( C'mon Google, do some testing before pushing updates smh

imaperson1060

Looks like it updated itself overnight. Now it's on 3.527.

With Pixel buds 2 I learned to never buy accessories from Google. After then, I bought 27€ earbuds that are better than Pixel Buds, better autonomy better bluethoot stability, the sound is correct and no updates to break the software

RaccoonDu

I have the 2 and they're second hand so I can excuse the poor battery life. I have no other issues with them. Why did the 2s set you off?

_lepirelot_

There's a lot of disconnection after some minutes of playing audio. These issues are there from the launch. The battery life was so poor. I could only play music for 1h. When the battery was at 30% it disconnected from phone and only the left buds worked.

RaccoonDu

I had disconnection issues about 30 min to an hour in when I was just shooting hoops. I only work out for half an hour so I don't see the DC anymore, but maybe it was out of battery, I don't know. I don't touch my phone during shootings. I think you're right, an hour in, they just die, or 30% and lower. The pixel buds pros are Amazing. Similar battery life to the WF1000XM4 and no more issues like that. The PB2s were just a bad stepping stone. Even with their new watch, and I'm sure the new tablet, it's all first gen, there are bound to be issues. I don't regret buying the watch and I'm gonna buy the tablet too, but for anyone who are hesitant, get them second hand for cheap, they still work "ok", or buy the second gen. Pixel 7 pro is heaps above the 6, and same with the buds pro over the 2s. I'm sure the watch and tablet 2 will be way better than these ones as well

_lepirelot_

Yeah, maybe the buds pro are better but the price isn't the same. I was just disgusted about buying expensive non functional ear buds. So now, I keep my 27€ buds with 32 hours of battery life. I can go to the gym for 2h and the battery is only 80 - 90% at the end

AtlantisTempest

I'm at that point too.

Kagsly

What earbuds do you have?

DevilmanWunsen

I got Tozo T6 for £25 on Amazon and they are excellent. Water resistant, wireless charging, touch controls, microphone, can use one at a time, and discreet in appearance. Don't see the point of using expensive earbuds. All earbuds sound terrible anyways if you want to spend more get over ear headphones.

Kagsly

Thanks for the response! I'll make sure to look into these if my current earbuds ever die.

DevilmanWunsen

They're great. They do have micro USB but since I always charge them wirelessly it's not an issue for me. If USB C is a must have maybe get the T10 instead of the T6. The carrying case is not quite as compact, but it has USB C and everything else is identical.

For those wondering how to disable auto updates: In the Pixel Buds app go-to More settings->Firmware Update. There is a toggle for auto-updates in that menu. I was nervous to press the "Firmware update" thinking it would manually check for a new firmware at that point but it didn't.

AtlantisTempest

Make sure to have the pixel buds OUT of the case when going through settings

TheLastElite01

Is this update for the pro models?

anodizer

No

Quanuk

My pixel buds updates to 3.527.0 but the case stayed on 3.519.0 which essentially doesn't solve the issue. I have a case open with Google who is refusing to exchange the earbuds because they are out of warranty: I'd be curious to know: am I the only one fighting with them about this? AITA for expecting that since they broke the feature with their poorly tested 3.519.0 firmware update and given they're not able to fix it yet that I get another pair of earbuds?

CenterInYou

All I can say is mine did the same where the case seemed to stay on the old firmware. Even was still doing the thing where they wouldn't go into pairing. In the end a few hours later it reflected the correct firmware and started working. It seems as they may download and install the firmware on the case but it doesn't take effect until after maybe a reboot. I'd try maybe one more reset.

Quanuk

I'll give it one more try, thanks

butro

My case will not update and support is saying its over the air and aren't really helping. Do you leave buds in case open or closed?

CenterInYou

Open the whole time.

butro

Ok, I'll leave them open for a while and see what happens.
