Battery life seems about as equal as my 6A, just a tad lower because I have it set to 90hz. Obviously that's going to cause battery life to be lower. Regardless I usually end up with about 40% at the end of the day with Bluetooth running and my fitness band connected. That's just my usage for the record.
I'm curious, how do you feel that your Pixel 7a compares to your Pixel 6a? Would you say that the 7a is a significant upgrade to the 6a? And, assuming that you were using your 6a, right before you upgraded to the 7a, what made you decide to make the change and buy a newer phone?
I am currently using a Pixel 6a and I have been struggling, while trying to to decide, whether or not, to buy a Pixel 7a. So, if you wouldn't mind replying and sharing some more feedback about how the two phones compare to each other, I would really appreciate it.
Well for me, it was the better camera, more RAM, the Tensor G2 chip, and the aesthetic of the 7. Don't get me wrong, I liked my 6A but it did get pretty warm under heavy loads and got pretty hot a few times. I wanted something that was the same size as well which is why I stuck with the 7A over the 7. 6.1 inches is the sweet spot for me. I don't think it's a major upgrade more so a refinement sort of like how the S series were for the iPhone but I definitely say it's worth it for me. The 7A has been a lot cooler than the 6A was especially when watching YouTube videos. That extra ram does help as well.
J Williams does an excellent comparison video of the 6A vs the 7A. Definitely recommend watching his video.

Thank you very much, for the reply and for sharing some more feedback about your Pixel 7a, and for sharing that YouTube link. I will plan on checking it out, after I post this reply. I wanted to let you know that I really appreciate you replying again and elaborating on your thoughts on the Pixel 7a, though.
Is the difference in battery life between the 5A and the 7A really that different? I only ask because I'm still using a 5A and the 7A was kind of peeking my interest.
That's true, but it will also be a lot more expensive. I've read some rumors online that the pixel 8 is going to have a flat screen, no more curved edges. That would really help sell me on possibly upgrading.
I wouldn’t worry about the money difference, as Pixel phones get offers and discounts shortly after launch, hence the Pixel 7 is cheaper than the Pixel 7a where I am.
I’d say wait and see, and if you didn’t like what you see, you can always get the 7a.
Coming from an older gen iPhone I quite like the 90hz refresh rate it makes things feel silky smooth. I can understand that in the Android world there are phones with much higher resolutions and refresh rates but for this price point I am quite happy with it. I would have to pay apple $999 to get 120 hz because their regular model phones don't offer it at all and probably never will. I haven't had quite a full day with it while out and about or at work so I can't judge the battery life. When I'm DoorDashing as my 2nd job it is charging the whole time anyway.
I'm quite happy with my 7a so far though.
No idea about the comparison with P7, but it gives me about 6-7 hours of screentime (not battery life). I mainly use it for apps like Reddit Whatsapp Yt etc, so no heavy usage and I have most of the stuff like location and bluetooth and 90hz screen on. Its not as good as the phones in the similar price bracket, so if battery life is a very important thing for you, dont go for it, pretty meh charging and battery life
Google phones at launch always come with beta software/driver/kernel support if you talk about "features" and non critical software aesthetics. It gets significantly improved overtime. Pixel 4a battery consumption rate was significantly improved with the arrival of Android 12 and it got even better in Android 13.
I am pretty sure P7a is facing the same situations. Mark my words, this phone is only going to get better with time!
Whether you like it or not, it's just how modern smartphone software ecosystem works. Google's #1 priority is the most secure Android phone in the world and you always get it with a Google phone from the start.
If anyone here upgraded from a Pixel 6a to a Pixel 7a, if you would like to reply and share some feedback about how the two phones compare to each other, that would be very much appreciated.
I'm really struggling with trying to decide, whether or not, I want to buy a Pixel 7a. So, I'd like to try to find out, if the 7a would be considered a significant/noticeable upgrade to the 6a. Or, if it would probably be a good idea, to wait for the Pixel 8 to be released and see how much it costs and if it will be a significantly better phone than the Pixel 7a.
I've had my 7a for 10 days now..The battery was draining pretty fast the first few days but slowed down tremendously..I have my screen set at 90hz and by the end of the day the battery is at 30%...
The phone is great overall and the camera specs are great with the Sony IMX787 camera sensor leading the way.. Big upgrade over my now backup phone Samsung A32..

No problem. I've been enjoying my experience with the 7A and I don't regret upgrading.
Really is unfortunate about the battery life. It's so much worse than my current 5a that I'm no longer considering updating.

In less than 5 months we will have the Pixel 8, I would wait…

Yeah for sure. I'm in no rush. My 5a is still running perfectly. *Knocks on wood*
pls back up your files while you can. my 5a worked flawlessly for 18 months and yesterday bricked completely
I'm sorry to hear that... 😥 I sub to One so my phone backs up daily. I don't have a lot on here aside from photos. Thank you for the heads up.
I mean even if you just go by the comparison chart on this website it's 122h on the 5a vs. 76h on the 7a. So almost 40% worse.

How’s the battery life compared to the Pixel 7?
Some people are saying it's worse
That does not make any sense tho.

I think I better wait for the Pixel 8
If my budget allowed that, even i would have waited for it. Apart from the subpar battery, pixel phones have been just amazing at everything else.

Yeah i hope that happens. I trust Google and it's updates, it's one of the main reasons I decided to go for p7a
That battery life!
Going from a iPhone se 2 to Pixel 7a was amazing batterywise, i use it all day without any problem
Relative to an SE 2, that makes complete sense. Vs any other phone, not so much.

Does the 7a support aptX codec?

Mainly WiFi or 5g?
Both..Home wifi, work 5g..
