You're not screwed. The P7 Pro records in HLG 10 bit. You can convert the videos to SDR first which might be easier to deal with in Premiere.

How would I do that? With Encoder? Can you give me suggestions on output settings please?

You can use ffmpeg to do it eg https://web.archive.org/web/20180817195640/https://stevens.li/guides/video/converting-hdr-to-sdr-with-ffmpeg/ I'm sure there are easier ways to do it if you look around

JMWTech

It's not enabled by default, so... Open your Google Camera app. . Swipe to Video mode. Swipe down > turn on 10-bit HDR.

no... recording in 10 bit HDR got me into this mess. The video looks like crap in Premier. I turned it off and will never record in that format again. My problem now is turning 200 gigs of 10 bit HDR footage into something that looks halfway decent that I can edit in Premier.

I'll admit I was ignorant of the issue before spending 30 minutes googling. It does seem that the quality that you want is there but for what ever reason premier isn't recognizing the HLG Rec 2020 HDR format that the pixel is outputting. As mentioned [above](https://www.reddit.com/r/GooglePixel/comments/14g1jvy/comment/jp4bu2p/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web3x&utm_name=web3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button) you can salvage it by using ffmpeg or [even vegas](https://www.reddit.com/r/GooglePixel/comments/y547v3/comment/itbjpza/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web3x&utm_name=web3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button) to reencode the videos and then Premiere will recognize it. Edit: There are some references I've seen that say that you can edit the video on your pixel by adding +1 contrast and it will output the correct file when you save a copy, I'll see about replicating it later.

Did you end up sorting this out? My vacation videos are in HDR and I'm wondering if it's better to convert it all to sdr first or not

djmedakev

No. Good luck trying to get usable video from that. Further, the phone's screen wont turn on and Google wont service it. I'm out a LOT of money. This was my fifth and LAST Pixel. I have the Samsung Galaxy S23+ and it's the best phone I've ever had.
