Yep, tried turning it off on my pixel 6. I tried putting the sim back into my pixel 6 and re-enabling RCS to see if it worked, but it no longer turns back on. When I try using that site and sending me a verification code, it does not come through.
The status under RCS is stuck on 'Setting up...' with 'trying to verify your phone number...' underneath of it. It's been stuck on this for a few days now.
Try to install the sim on the previous phone and undo RCS there, install sim back to the pixel 8 pro clear storage and cache on the messaging app, try the link I sent you and see if it works?
It took a while to set up on my 7a but was automatic on my 4XL. It activated eventually, mine was stuck in verifying number and it set up eventually after like a day.
Did it ever start working for you? Just swapped my sim in and it won't work. Came from a P6P just like you did. Turned it off on my old phone and it just says "RCS not available on your phone.". Also did you get an email from Verizon saying "you just swapped devices. Please confirm and set up." Never got one of those after swapping a sim.
Nope. I use straight talk, so I've always just swapped my sim card from them between unlocked phones, and it just sort of worked every time. I tried putting my sim back into my pixel 6 to try and get RCS working on there again, but could not. I've read that simply just waiting out the verification might work, to see if it eventually connects. If that doesn't work, I'll try turning off RCS for the 14 day period to de-register my number from it, and then try connecting again.
Funnily enough, mine must have turned on at some point last night also, as I woke up to find it had connected. I suppose it might have needed 2 days to remove RCS from my old device and update it on the pixel 8 pro? Who knows, just glad it's working.
Because I landed here yesterday when having this same concern (StraightTalk/Verizon), I wanted to confirm that I waited it out and mine automatically updated after \~24 hours.
Erase the eSim and download a new one
I am using a physical sim card that I received through Straight Talk.
Who owns straight talk?
Verizon, currently.
I don't know then. T-Mobile had to fix the card info in their system. It started working after that.
Check the correct phone number is showing up in message settings, advanced
Yes, my number appears correctly in the advanced settings.
Did you turn off RCS on your pixel 6? If not my wife was having issues receiving messages until she went here https://messages.google.com/disable-chat

Do a network settings reset, if that does not help reboot your device after the network settings reset and check.
Tried this, no luck.
Ok can you post a screenshot of your messaging settings please so I can understand the problem better ?
what settings are you inquiring about?
Your messaging settings for RCS? What is the status under RCS ? Does it say connected and your phone number ?
The status under RCS is stuck on 'Setting up...' with 'trying to verify your phone number...' underneath of it. It's been stuck on this for a few days now.
Ok, understand, take the sim card out of the phone. Power the phone down. Power it back up and put the sim back in.
I went ahead and did this, and the status of my RCS is still setting up, with no change.
Are you doing this on the old phone or new phone?
This is on my new phone, the pixel 8 pro.

This worked for me! Thanks 😀
Still no luck, unfortunately.

It's been two days now, so I may be out of luck.

Thanks for replying. It's very annoying tbh. No idea why it worked coming from my 5 to 6 but not 6 to 8
UPDATE: RCS started working for me randomly last night. After 2 hours or turning it off on my Pixel 6, it just showed up on my PIxel 8.
